Treiden hops lightly from foot to foot dancing around the creature. Every step a dance of steel and blood cutting deep into the creature. While Kerumi weaves around to flank the creature with Treiden's dance. But even that does nothing to aid in getting past his shell. Nemeia taking the oppurtunity from Kerumi's failed maneuver to flank, draws her sickle and drives it deep into the shoulder of the hulking menace. Nalita slowly moves to engage the creature. As the creature releases a noxious cloud that seems to move through the group, having no ill effect yet.

And with that the beast goes down in a lurch. Crumbling to the ground. The Oni to the side of the Emissary slams his fist on the chair. The Emissary smiles and claps at the performance that just occured. Around you in the grandstand you hear murmurs of approval.

More to come tonight when j have a chance to look at the module again

Bathing in the eye of the crowd, Treiden gives a deep bow as he continues juggling his sword and scarf in an aesthetically pleasing manor. Its overwhelmingly clear to everyone that he absolutely lives for the attention garnered by the crowd. Given his display, it would not seem out of line to assume that the only reason he signed up for the tournament was for this sort of attention.

Performance Check (Multiple hits (?)): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Sheathing her own sword, she mutters to the group. "I may speak too soon, but thus far the competition has been lacking." She then offers a bow to the crowd.

Kerumi first bows to his fallen and crumbled opponent, then to the magistrate and after taking a cue from his comrades, he bows to the audience.
"I am sure, Nalita, that many who made it past the first round may be saying the same thing."

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

"I'm not sure what the goal of this exhibition was, any one of us could probably have taken down that creature single-handedly."

"We can hope that the next 4 days of trails will eventually scale to your liking," Treiden interjects as he blows a few more kisses to audience members. He casts a pell of prestidigitation on his gilded mithral blade before returning it to the scabbard hidden in the unnaturally deep pockets of his vest and gives a final bow before turning his attention to the group. "Today is the first of many days events, I guarantee the next coming matches will push us to break our projected limits. Think of this as a formal meet and greet with the contest goers. Now they have a name to cheer for."

Sorry for the delay had some life to take care of

After the day's events-32 official matches as well as many exhibition fights and tests of skill-draw to a close, competitors progressing to the next round are treated to a great feast. Long tables filled with food and wine are set about the pavilion grounds while the crowds are entertained with drumming and dancing. As soon as the sun sets, the Emissary's monks put on an impressive fireworks display over the cove.

Feel free to enjoy the celebration or use the time to explore the island, though Mathyson again suggests they get rest before the next day's events.

Treiden takes full pleasure of the luxuries provided by the organizers. He asks several groups of locals to show him around the island to any favorable locations before he sets off on his own to process and reflect on his current position. It had been a great many years since he allowed himself to openly display himself in such gatherings. And how great it is to go under his own name again!

He watches the fireworks display contemplatively with this and a similar vein of thoughts for some time before eventually trailing off to see what interesting trouble the rest of the group has likely found by now.

The celebration is wonderful as is the food. You happen to notice Risha from the boat sitting with an intimidating and scar covered hobgoblin, all drinking from their own wineskins and turning down offers of food or drink from the monks serving the feast.

Treiden swaggers over to Risha's table and takes a seat across from her without waiting for an invitation. The night has so far been exceedingly good to him. Many congratulated him and the team for their prowess in the day's show and quite a few lingering gazes from some beautiful women had boosted both his confidence and his consumption. "RISHA! My darling!" he calls out excitedly raising his glass over his head, "May I inform you that you and your esteemed guests are doing yourselves a most grievous disservice. The wine, O my the wine, it's a peculiar vintage of fermented cherries and honey. It's quite divine actually! Never has my humble palate been sated such marvelous flavors." He rises again to his feet and summons another server with a pitcher of wine and demands he reward them with the same treat as his.

Lantern Lodge

Risha looks at you and says, Darlin', you are quite the master with that scimitar, but unfortunately I only drink the wines from my own vineyards. and refuses your offer politely.

"My dear you flatter me," Treiden blushes. "Truly, these monks have spared no expenses on tonight's entertainment and cuisine. A ripe shame that you not indulge yourselves." He smiles at the group pushing his charisma to its limit.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

"Though now, I'm afraid you've piqued my interest. I myself have owned vineyards back overseas in Varisia. Currants and blackberries made for quite decadent desert wines though the master of harvest was likened to heavily sampling our product. Never quite made it to overhauling production."

Bluff: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31 (that's completely untrue)

"Please, do tell me of this wine you value so much so that you would shun away any suitors. A fresh glass as well, I would love to sample a taste."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

Day Two, dawn comes and the emissary's monks walk from tent to tent with hot and bowls of rice porridge sweetened with sticks of sugarcane. New flags fly above the pavilion and the arena is set for the next event. The number of remaining contestants is half the number who began yesterday, but many of those who were eliminated now fill the grandstands, making the crowd seem even more overwhelming.

You are not scheduled until late morning today, and can spend the morning watching other contestants and go about your business after a restful nights sleep.

Kerumi watches these first matches of the day intently, taking note of who progresses and how they fight. Paying close attention specifically to Risha and her hobgoblin associate.

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

Nemeia prepares a dex mutagen, and extracts for the day. She saves some extract slots for choices she might need to make later today.

4 (3/day) Invisibility, Greater, Fluid Form
3 (5/day) Haste (x1), Protection from Arrows, Communal, Resist Energy, Communal
2 (5/day) Barkskin (x2), Invisibility (x2)
1 (7/day) Shield (x2), Detect Secret Doors, True Strike

She then watches the other contests, to see what she can learn about her competition before she might have to face them. She takes notes during the fights.

Female Samsaran Bladebound Magus 11

Nalita will spend the morning preparing spells, then proceed to watch the fights as well.

Treiden will spend whatever time he can spare in attempts to woo and/or impress Risha. When he feels he has assaulted the poor girl enough for one morning he retires to undergo a lengthy stretching regime followed by a light breakfast, topped off with a glass of chilled wine.

Lantern Lodge

Risha fervently keeps her distance from most other competitors.

Before your competition another test of skill is to take place. Monks quickly set up an archery range. Then wizards come out and cast spells on the targets. The Emissary then address the remaining contestants I ask for a test of the hand and eye this time. Your team will be given 10 arrows to shoot and will be assessed by which area of the three targets you hit. You are not permitted to dispel the magic. Please choose which teammates will take which of the 10 shots and good luck to you all.

There are three targets each farther away, some appear farther than others. The rings from outer to inner are White, Black, Blue, Red and Yellow. Please let me know which of the targets you are shooting at Target 1 is closest and easiest, Target 2 farther with concealment, and target 3 farther and more concealment.

Female Samsaran Bladebound Magus 11

"The rules do not specifically ban the use of magic to assist us as far as I can tell, perhaps I can be of some skill. I do possess magic to aid my aim."

The highest I can actually get my Ranged Attack is 8 BAB, +1 Bow, +3 Arcane Pool, +20 True Strike for +32. The Arcane Pool on my bow will last 1 minute, and I can Spell Recall True Strike if needed, though I only have 8 points in my Arcane Pool. So I probably shouldn't take all 10 at all. And it's quite possible for someone to be able to get higher than +32 as well.

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

Spellcraft to identify the spells being cast on the targets.

Target 1 spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Target 2 spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Target 3 spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

"I have one true strike prepared, and can prepare 3 more very quickly. With my mutagen, I am confident in my abilities with my bow."

I'm at +37 with true strike, and can prepare up to 4. True strike will let us ignore concealment, as well. If someone has better than a 37, I can give them true strikes instead of using them myself. By my reading of the infusion rules, I can even give someone an infusion of a spell like true strike, which normally is only personal target.

Lantern Lodge

Male

2nd one has concealment and 3rd one has displacement. The first has nothing.

"I'm sure I could help with an enchantment or two as well."

I can add See Invisibility which negates concealment. I could also through heroism and/or good hope. Who actually has prof with bows?

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

Whoops! Good point, I use a light crossbow, not a bow. I can provide 4 true strikes for our best archer. I could also borrow a bow I suppose which would be -4 due to non-proficiency (so +12/+32 if unenchanted) if I'm somehow the best archer even non-proficient :)

Female Samsaran Bladebound Magus 11

I do have proficiency, which I already accounted for.

I just checked and found that bards have short bow prof. Since the two of you have the same mod I'll support either. Most good buffs of mine are for melee so I won't bother volunteering but I'll be happy to buff whoever is shooting.

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

Treiden would be at +34 with my true strikes and a mundane shortbow. I would be the same as Nalita but don't have to burn arcane pool (which she might want to save for the fight) to get that +32, just the true strikes. Nalita is probably the only one strong enough to wield her bow; is there a bow Treiden or I can borrow, or is there time for me to run to a store and buy an off the shelf masterwork bow? In any case, non-alchemists with true strike prepped who can shoot bows should probably take their true strike shots. :)

Female Samsaran Bladebound Magus 11

Oddly enough, I forgot to purchase a strength enhanced bow (doh!). I just realized reading your post. Apparently my failure can be of assistance.

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

Hmm...yeah, I could use that then. That would be +13 non-proficient, +33 true strike.

Lantern Lodge

Male

They will provide a bow for you. Whatever order you are taking your 10 hots in please post the attack

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

OK, I can take 4 shots with true strike ignoring concealment chances, so those should be at the farthest target. How many of those shots can you take Nalita? And can anyone else ignore concealment?

Any non-true strike shots should probably be at the closest target. I can shoot at +13 after the first 4 shots.

Anyone who wants to shoot, please post what you can do, so we can decide on an order and shoot today...anyone who will be buffing others, please post what you'll provide as well.

I have potions of true strike I could give out, I don't foresee them being necessary for me

Female Samsaran Bladebound Magus 11

I can take the other 6 if desired. It will cost 6 of my 8 arcane pool, but all in all, I used 1 point yesterday. It could be a pain, it could do nothing, and I don't mind a gamble :)

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

Nalita: You can do true strike x6? I can borrow a potion from Kerumi and do 5, and brew a replacement tonight :) Then we can go 5 and 5. If all of our shots will be true strike and ignore concealment, we may as well just take turns and put them all in the farthest target (unless it was made clear to us that we are supposed to change targets)

Female Samsaran Bladebound Magus 11

I could theoretically do 9. Spell recall. It just will burn 1 Arcane Point each time. Plus I'm wanting to use 1 Arcane Point to make my Bow +4 when I shoot, which will reduce it to 8 times (once memorized, 7 for the remaining Arcane Pool). But I'm fine with the 5 and 5.

Arcane Pool lasts for 1 min so you should be able to get a few attacks with each use. I'll cast Heroism on you before you begin. Unfortunately it won't stack with Good Hope because they both provide a 'competence' bonus. For some reason I thought this game would be mostly us competing with each other. I'm now wishing I wasn't so greedy with my spells.

Female Samsaran Bladebound Magus 11

Yea, 1 minute of my bow being +4, then recall True Strike 4 times for the four attacks after the first.

Fair enough. In the case that the two of you are going halvesies I'd rather cast Good Hope so you both enjoy the benefits. Conversation should probably be moved to the OOC...

Lantern Lodge

Male

I am not going to post again for an update until the shots have been fired. I will be around to answer questions you may have.

With a hand on each woman's shoulder, "My champions. My beautiful valkryies. I guarantee your spectators will be in for quite a marvelous showing of archery this afternoon. I trust that you both will carry our team's greatness to higher levels with this test." The area on your shoulder where his hand is resting grows warm and soon the sensation spreads throughout your whole body, inspiring and leaving you excited for action (cast's Good Hope).

As he begins to turn away he stops quickly and pulls the silver snakeskin belt from around his waist and hands it to Nalita. "Feel free to take this as well. It has always given me a feeling of litheness and agility. It may be helpful to the task at hand," he informs her with a pronounced smile. He then walks away, adjusting his pants to the new fit.

Belt of Incredible Dexterity +2. Best I can do to help out. Good luck, gals!

Dark Archive

Tiefling Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 11

Well, rather than alternating, lets just do 5 and then 5, so that all of your shots / spells fit into one casting of your bow being buffed

Nemeia bows to Nalita and thanks her for the use of her bow, and fires 5 shots at the farthest target, each one using true strike.
