Esteriande d'Litran |

Esteriande feels her stomach churn in revulsion at the Skinsaw Man's depravity and blasphemy. For Aldern she has a little compassion ... but not for this monster ...
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Immune to fear, +4 to all within 10' of Esteriande vs fear.
Are we on new initiatives?

The shriek causes most of you to cower from the Revenant's wrath except Esteriande whose faith in her Goddess helps her withstand it and miraculously Inikai who seems to weather the effect well.

![]() |

The shriek of frustration, of justice too long denied, and suffering held too close to heart, until it withered and corrupted all that was good within, tears through Marak, leaving him trapped in an echo of the creature's tormented despair.
Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Alisebett |

Ali currently has +2 to her will saves plus the 4 from Esteriande gives her 13. Don't know if that's enough but here's the Init anyway
Initiative:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Romon |

Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Seldom in the course of RPG history has one PC done so little to garner a full share of experience. :-)
Ohh. and what Set said about Marak. Sincere flattery and all that.
EDIT: By which I mean Romon is a shattered shell of a half-elf for a while.

Esteriande d'Litran |

"In ze name of ze Rose!" Esteriande follows the spirit of vengeance, closing with the Skinsaw Man, her flickering blade flashing and her eyes grim with the pain of the betrayed heart.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 (+2 Smite Evil, -2 Combat Expertise factored in)
Damage: 1d10 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17 (+5 Smite Evil, +2 additional strength factored in)

DM Wellard |

Naria does pass it..just.It's a really nasty power. Pity it's mind affecting and therefore useless against her undead husband.
Esteriande's blade sinks deep into the Ghast's body.(total Damage 34)
He in return unleashes a furious series of attacks on Iesha trying to break her grip all off which fail miserably.

Esteriande d'Litran |

Esteriande delivers another furious blow, abandoning her defensive stance:
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 Damage: 1d10 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
... but has to adjust her swing as the Skinsaw man shifts Iesha into the path of her blade.
(Well, natural 1 always misses <pout>)

Esteriande d'Litran |

Oh yes! The only problem is we may have to fight her after he goes down. It's his turn now, then Inikai, Muchorak and Nalia I think. Don't know what his hit points are but I imagine they aren't looking good about now.

Inikai |

Unless Naria takes him out first:
Inikai curses in Taldane and Shoanti as his satellite fires three more streaks of light at the skinsaw Man. Why won't he fall? the young man thinks to himself.

If his AC is 32 or less then that's an extra 35 damage from my smitey goodness ...

Esteriande d'Litran |

"Go gently to Pharasma's arms, and may Shelyn grant zat ze love you 'ad in life be rekindled pure and unbroken in ze next world, for 'ee zat dies pays all debts," Esteriande prays softly. "If zat is not to be, may you rest in peace and such 'appiness as you may find, in 'ze name of ze rose, so may it be."
Despite her combat fury, the devotee of the Goddess of Love looks with sadness and compassion on the two ruined figures.
"We should lay zem in a grave, zey deserve zat at least."

Inikai |

She is as compassionate to fallen foes as she is ruthless in dispatching them. What an odd womanthinks the young man who hosts the remains of an obliterated entity in his mind.
"My lady, while I certainly respect your commitment to the tennents of Pharasma and Shalyn, perhaps the most we could simply give them a water-burial in the pool we passed earlier. It would be the simplest and safest approach. If we were to dig graves for them it leaves us open to ambush, especially those inside the hole."
However, after seeing the amount of damage that she dish out, Inikai is NOT going to simply refuse to go along with her plans.
Did Mr. Skin have any booty other than his sword?

Esteriande d'Litran |

"Oui, mon ami, it would be painstaking work, but ze body parts could pollute ze waters, zey are ... unclean." Esteriande thinks a moment. "Zer is much wood, cloth and oil in ze 'ouse, we could build a pyre outside. Ze wind will blow ze ashes into ze bay. Or we could build it in zese caverns, zere is sufficient ventilation."

Muchorak "Windstriker" |

Muchorak looks at the two forms with disgust, "Burn them and this home. Cleanse the land of this darkness with fire." Looking about the room and seeing no immediate threats he sheaths his blades.

Esteriande d'Litran |

Esteriande starts to search as well, both the fallen bodies and the room, talking as she does so and scanning around the cavern with her detect evil ability.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
"Zere is more to zis 'ouse zan a den of ghouls," Esteriande says. "Zere is an evil 'ere, fused with ze very bricks an mortar, I 'ave felt it since I was brought into ze mansion. Somezing ... malignant, and as you would 'ave eet, old." She's 134 years old, older than the mansion!
She looks at Muchorak.
"I do not disagree zat much of zis place should be cleansed by fire, but zat ees not the ze best solution. Eet will only mask ze true problem and destroy many works of art in ze process. We need to save what can be saved, build a pyre for zese poor souls, and see to eet zat zis place is cleansed in ze spirit. If we do not, zis evil will only fester 'ere, and one day return to threaten ozers in a new form."
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Assuming that Esteriande can still detect the lurking evil of this house, does she know what spell or action may purify it? Based on that roll, though, I suspect she is clueless.

DM Wellard |

You find a distrubing collection of ephemera which all concerns muchorak..including a collection of drawings which show him as a physically perfect specimen..
The painting is crudely daubed with blood and other less salubrious materials to turn it into a crude approximation of the Ranger.
Mixed in with the drawings is a letter the text of which reads..
Aldern—
You have served us quite well. The delivery you harvested from the caverns far exceeds what I had hoped for. You may consider your debt to the Brothers paid in full. Yet I still have need of you, and when you awaken from your death, you should find your mind clear and able to understand this task more than in the state you lie in as I write this.
You shall remember the workings of the Sihedron ritual, I trust. You seemed quite lucid at the time, but if you find after your rebirth that you have forgotten, return to your townhouse in Magnimar. My
agents shall contact you there soon—no need for you to bother the Brothers further.
I will provide the list of proper victims for the Sihedron ritual in two days’ time. Commit that list to memory and then destroy it before you begin your work. The ones I have selected must be marked before they die, otherwise they do my master no good and the greed in their souls will go to waste.
If others get in your way, though, you may do with them as you please. Eat them, savage them, or turn them into pawns—it matters not to me.
—Your Mistress, Wanton of Nature’s Pagan Forms
The fungal growth on the wall and the box remain to be investigated.. your intentions please

Inikai |

How big is the box? Are there any other exits from this room?
"I can move things from a short distance without touching them. This could provide us a measure of safety rather than having to come right upon them."

Muchorak "Windstriker" |

Was the letter read aloud?
Turning to Esteriande, "Your words are still strange to me but I think I understand. If the house must be purged another way then let us set to it. And once it is done the house can be their pyre."
EDIT: After discovering the contents of the letter
"What is this Sihedron ritual?" He turns his question to Inikai and Marak. "Many more questions arise from that letter but I think it best if we take it in small bites."

Inikai |

Just checked ealier posts and saw that the puzzlebox is fist-sized
"That fungus is probably dangerous. Let's let it be."
Inikai's sattelite spins in place and the puzzlebox rises from the floor to the level of a man's out-stretched hand. Then it slowly floats toward him and stops about five feet away.Mage Hand Inikai looks closely from this distance to see if anything is noteworthy in the box.

![]() |

Hmm Set hasn't posted for a bit here
Sorry, was feared throughout the melee, and the only thing Marak thought to say, that we should burn the house instead of dragging the bodies out, Muchorak had already said!
"Was the symbol found in the warrens with the sinspawn and ragewell not also called a sihedron?" Marak says, studiously pretending that he didn't spend the entire combat frozen in horror...

Esteriande d'Litran |

"Dangerous?" Esteriande is trembling with revulsion. "It ees ... words cannot describe! Malignant, perverse, an anathema to ze living - zis must be the 'eart of darkness of zis place! Do not approach it!"
Esteriande turns away.
"Zis is a different matter," she reads the letter aloud:
Aldern—

—Your Mistress, Wanton of Nature’s Pagan Forms
"So, an occult rite, to be performed on certain victims? Ze only purpose I can imagine is one of necromancy. Once our business 'ere is concluded, I zink I shall desire to exchange words with zis 'Wanton of Nature’s Pagan Forms,'" Esteriande notes grimly. "Is zere anything else in 'ere zat may indicate where in Magnimar I can start searcheeng for ze 'Brothers' an zis 'Wanton'? And yourselves, if you wish, but I do not wish to presume your involvement."

Alisebett |

Shaking off their paralyzation Ali and Lunas growl a bit but seem otherwise unharmed.
Curious, but also very wary of, the abnormal fungal growth, Ali approaches it, but not very closely, and begins to sniff and consider if she has ever seen or heard of anything the like of.
Knowledge(nature):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Perception:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
While doing this she also opens her senses up to any emanations of magic about the room.
Detect Magic
Not sure what to make of the letter and Big Bear's involvement in all of this, the Wild Druidess shifts to Gnome form and moves over to the big ranger, holding his hand as she says fiercely
"You no worry Big Bear, Ali, and Lunas!, no let no no-good'ems take you away for bad bad things!"
Then, wrinkling her nose at the stench and gore all about them the pretty little Gnome suddenly claps her hands as an idea hits her. Scrunching up her nose in concentration Ali begins to use her natural racial ability to clean the clothes and forms of her companions of all grit and gore and changes the smell in the room to a much more pleasent, natural forest scent.
