Muchorak nods his thanks as his wounds fully heal then moves to the edge and gives out a low whistle for Ursus...the bear hearing his masters call eagerly comes and scales the wall.
Taking 10 on the Handle Animal with Ursus for a 29 and Ursus taking 10 for the climb is a 17

"Well, we warned 'im," Esteriande sighs when she sees the fallen Ettin, then turns to Naria. "Zat was very effective, Naria, merci. I suppose ze funds will 'elp restore ze fort. Now let us progress."
Romon
The funds will help restore the fort? What about us? We got expenses! Daddy's little girl needs new shoes.
Romon shakes his head.
"Let's wait here, quiet-like. If we're not bee-swarmed, we can sneak ahead and Muchorak and I won't have to storm the spear topped ramparts."

Marak places his hand on his holy symbol, weighing the value of waiting, and perhaps finding their way forward blocked, having given foes time to fortify their position, or rushing forward and perhaps finding their foes at the height of their power, defensive magics ready, instead of allowing them to waste their power for an attack that only comes on our terms.
Has a foe *ever* wasted all of its defensive magic at the first sound of trouble, and been left diminished and unprepared for us when we belatedly arrived after binding wounds and sorting loot? I think not. he chides himself.
"I would prefer that we move forward now, before any doors may be shut before us or defensive fortifications readied for action."
Romon
"Or we can do that too. In which case through the tulips as quietly as we may!" Romon fairly skips to the northern cliff face and presumably scales or slides if need be the rocky surface.

Muchorak moves over to Ursus and ruffles the fur on his head then looks at Marak, "Keep an eye on him brother." Is all the ranger says before he bounds off after romon...

Marak stuffs ettin's loot in his haversack, if no one else has taken possession of it, although he hands the scroll to Naria. "This seems far more useful for you, than any of the rest of us."
He casts detect magic and checks over the area, to see if anything was missed, and specifically the phylactery, before following the others up the rope.
Spellcraft, to ID item, if applicable 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

"Might find more of two headed friend at the top of these stairs as well." Muchorak moves back to the rest of the group and whistles for Ursus to come.
Taking 10 on both handle animal and Ursus' climb check.
"More stairs ahead." Then the ranger returns back to Romon.
Alisebett
DireAliWolf cleans herself off as best as possible then loves, or flies, off after the others, using whichever mode of locomotion seems most appropriate.
Thanks for the dmpc! Will be away camping, Again, for another week or so. So please continue. Lunas will indeed continue to guard, senses alert for any trouble.
Romon
"Here's a troubler? If you're building stairs anyway, why not build them all the way from top to bottom? What's with these small cliffs?"
Apparently not truly troubled by the question, Romon skips forward up the stairs.

ok moving along.
You scale the stair s and the natural light grows again until you come out at the western end of the dam itself.
The upper walk of Skull’s Crossing is relatively clear of rubble, though a three-inch layer of water has pooled across much of its surface.
Here and there, sections of the dam’s surface have crumbled away, although this damage appears relatively old. A tower of skull-shaped
domes sits at the center of the dam’s walk. To the north surge the choppy waters of the Storval Deep, while to the south, the slope of the dam’s face drops away nearly three hundred feet to a muddy lake below.
Half a dozen ogres are apparently trying to destroy the dam with their ogre hooks directed by a larger tougher looking one who is sitting on a block off stone. You can tell that they are tired because of their laboured movements and they don't seem to have spotted you as yet.
Naria Yamyra
Twitch "There trying to destroy it......" Twitches again "A millenium old priceless wonder that has survived Erosion and natural disaster and there trying to destroy it...." A third twitch her voice getting angrier as she talks "No one damages a historical sight on my watch."
If in range she hurls a fireball at the Ogres attempting to get as many as possible. (760 foot range right now)
Fireball damage 9d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 2, 1, 3, 5, 5, 3) = 34
Dc 20 reflex for half
Muchorak "Windstriker"
"Going out there could be a death a sentence," The ranger points out the water, "We will need a way to lure the ogres here or secure our footing..." He stops as the small one finishes her casting. "Hopefully that will bring them here."
How far away are the ogres?
Esteriande d'Litran
"Indeed," Esteriande murmurs, and plies her bow at the survivors. I assume the enlarge has worn off.

If the ogres are within 190 ft. and he can get a bunch within the blast, Marak will lead with an explosion of corruscating holy energy.
holy smite, 20 ft. blast like a fireball, evil targets take 4d8 damage and are blinded for 1 round. Will save DC 20 for half damage and no blindness. (More damage for evil outsiders, less for non-evil foes, none for good targets.) 4d8 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 6) = 19
If the ogres are not within 190 ft., Marak calls upon a blessing invocation.
bless, +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saves vs. fear for 9 minutes

The fireball and the holy smite each catch 3 ogres. Funnily enough both miss the leader
Fireball

Ogre 2 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (9) - 3 = 6 DEAD
Ogre 3 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (6) - 3 = 3 DEAD

Ogre 5 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Blistered
Ogre 6 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Blistered
Anyone else want to post for the surprise round?
Romon
"Why lure them here when we can just kill them there?"
Romon targets the big guy carefully. "Hey you all overlooked one."
+1 Composite Shortbow (+2 Str), 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 ... damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Given the probable range penalties his second shot doesn't have much chance. I guess initiative is in order too.

Marak grips his holy symbol and calls upon Nethys' favor.
bless, everyone gets +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saves vs. fear for 9 minutes. This should take effect before Muchorak's attacks, bumping his results to 19.

Romon waits for the ogres to close before loosing his arrows, firing at the first one to break the 30' mark.

Ali Hawk takes to the Air.
Esteriande and Inikai hold..Muchorak and Romon both put two arrows into the seemingly stunned leader and Naria polishes off the last ogre the force of the missiles blowing it over the wall for a boneless 300 foot fall.
The leader stands up and moves towards you but his movements seem leaden and he looks tired.indeed he is staggering towards you at a rate even Ali gnome could almost outpace.
Range to Ogre 80 feet 35 damage

The Ranger looses two more arrows at the Ogre...

So, is he dead? Or trying to surrender? If neither, AliHawk will do this...
From the air, AliHawk dive bombs the orc leader. At the last moment she flows to DireWolf form, crashing massively into the hated orc, her teeth sink into and rip out a huge chunk of it's throat.

Sorry, I was waiting for the ogre's response to Randi.
Romon nocks another arrow and waits to see what the ogre replies.
Anything other than 'thank you, kind paladin. I will certainly avail myself of your kind and fair offer' or some such will win the ogre two more arrows.
