Let it so known that the bearers of this charter, having delivered the northern reaches of the Greenbelt from the scourge of banditry, having provided detailed maps of the lay of the land, and having done no small amount of work in the exploration of said land and the culling of hostile monsters and indigenous hazards, are hereby granted the right to rule.

The nature and laws of rule are theirs to define, and the wellbeing of this new nation is theirs to protect.

In accordance for providing a stable nation to the south of central
Rostland, let there be a generous stipend of funds, support, and advice provided to this fledgling nation as a token of Restov and Brevoy’s goodwill, such that future relations between kingdoms might be mutually beneficial.

So witnessed under the watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and by the authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.

"Good thinking Ivo, if they know they are surrounded, they will be a lot more likely to accept Theodore's chance to surrender. I think if Torsten could get close enough to send a few to sleep that would be the best way to do it, and take a few out of the fight before it even begins too."

Jacobus was not comfortable at all with the halfling's tactics.

He told him so, "What you are attempting to do is very honorable but these people have no honor. This is very dangerous. What if you go up to them and offer your terms and then get four-five arrows for your troubles?"

He was really looking out for the halfling, "How about your listen to Razarak here and we take the bandits down with as little bloodshed as possible and then you offer your terms?"

If Theodore is likely to be offline for a day or two then I suspect Tove, Jacobus and Razarak will win this argument by default. Which means that we try to sneak up, I open with sleep, then Theo offers terms. If anyone disagrees please speak up.

Hey all, got a couple of minutes available.

I look at Razarak and Jacobus and nod, "That can work, a decent compromise."

I only try to offer terms to start with as I can't Challenge if I haven't offered my terms. Have a good day all.

Happy with the outcome of their conversation, Jacobus slaps Theo on the back, "Trust me, I don't like killing any more than you do but you must take care when dealing with bandits."

He then goes to the east side of camp and takes his post close to the campfire but well outside the bandits hearing range or so he hoped.

He tried to see and hear what he could...

Jacobus and Razarak take the long way around, taking up a position on east side of the bandit camp. Likewise, Tove, Theodore, and Rufus take up their positions from the northwest.

From their new position, beyond the four red-clad bandits, Razarak is able to see a woman walking around the camp. A pair of hand axes set at the woman's belt.

Ivo sneaks into position ready to strike. Torsten and Strauch follow the stealthy gnome in a not so subtle manner, reflexively causing the gnome to wince, fearing his cover blown. For better or worse, Torsten and Ivo see the same fierce woman wandering around the camp.

One of the red-bandits cocks his head, appearing confused before saying, "Where the f#$~ did the damned goat come from?", point in the direction of Strauch.

The woman replies, "The goat's not alone. Some kid who's about to have a really bad day is with him. ALARM!" as she unhooks the two axes from her belt.

Two of the red-clad bandits stand up and pull morningstars from their belts, while the remaining red clad bandits stand and ready their shortbows. You hear sounds of others in the woods to the west of the bandits you have seen thus far.

3 and 4 have morningstars, 1 and 2 have bows.

Tove's heart sinks as she hears the voice of the woman calling out, realising that Torsten and Strauch have blown their cover.
No surprise attack then.
At least she now knew they where her friends were on the other side of the bushes.
"Erastil, bestow your blessing upon us, guide our hands and strengthen our hearts in the face of these brigands."
Tove says a quick prayer, casting a blessing over herself and those closest to her. Ivo, Torsten, Strauch, Theodore and Rufus are in range, I think (I can't see Rufus on the map but I'm assuming he is with Theo).

The two remaining bandits in red fire their bows at Strauch and Jacobus, both rather ineffectively.

Given the shape of the 10 ft burst "template", you could not get 1, 3, & 4 in the area of effect. I will go with you targeting 3 & 4.

Theodore rattles the head of one of the bandits again, but fails to knock him out, while Rufus bites at the same to little effect. Jacobus takes a defensive stance, preparing for the onslaught of attacks heading his way. At the same time, Razarak creates a small bolt of electricity that veers just wide of Kressle. Strauch just barely misses landing a shot on one of the bandits as well.

On the other side of the camp Tove fires her bow, but the arrow glances off of a low hanging branch falling well shy of her intended target. Ivo is able to remain hidden, mostly due to the chaos of the ensuing battle, while Torsten aids Strauch and finishes his spell, causing one of the bandits in front of Theodore to fall asleep, even more fortunate it was not the one that Theodore has nearly subdued.

Kressle does her best to batter her way through Jacobus's defenses, landing one massive blow under the inquisitor's shield and deep into his side.

Strauch's opponent likewise drops his bow and pulls his morningstar, landing a solid, but less effective than he would hope strike on the goat. One of the red clad bandits drops his bow and pulls his morning star as he moves to join the attack on the goat, landing a thunderous blow to side Strauch, the only thing keeping him up is the protection granted by his master.

Still woozy from the two shots to his head the remaining red clad bandits takes an awkward swing at Theodore but hits nothing but air. The bandit in the tower, having watched Kressle's foe fall targets Strauch. The bandit's arrow strikes true, but he is dismayed to see the arrow bounce off of the goat's stony hide.

Jacobus takes 11 damage! Strauch takes 5 damage after DR!

The remaining bandit in blue move closer to battle with two each taking aim at Tove and Torsten. Neither bandit's arrow is able to find the Erastilian priestess, but one arrow does manage to strike Torsten in the leg.

Torsten takes 4 damage!

Raz moves in to support jacobus, after casting a spell on himself and a faint shimmering appears before him before it disappears.

Cast shield, then moves 10' to better maneuver for his next attack

Torsten casts an anxious glance down at Strauch and calls out to him, "To my side of the fight, boy," as he jogs forward, throwing an evanescent spear at the bandit who shot him in the leg. The goat takes a nip at one then circles around the bowmen on the ground.

Targeting blue 5 and red 2 respectively.

Tove looks around frantically. She considers staying in cover and taking a few more shots at the bandits from the relative safety of the edge of the camp, but she can't ignore the cries of her comrades. Her friends needed her healing hands.

She bursts out of cover and runs through the clearing. Ducking behind one of the two stumps and coming up behind the foe fighting Theodore.
Taking two move actions to get into position while avoiding threatened spaces.

Jacobus commands Kressle to flee, fortunately for the party Kressle seems to comply with Jacobus's command. Meanwhile Ivo and Torsten combine to drop one of the blue clad bandits. Bleeding out, it is doubtful if the bandit will see another day.

Raz casts his protective spell and moves in toward the battle while Tove takes up a postion opposite of Theodore.

Theodore swings and misses his target, but Rufus manages to trip the bandit, putting him on the ground next to his sleeping brethren.

Strauch lands a headbut one of the bandits before moving back toward his master.

One of the red clad bandits takes a swing at Strauch while the other moves toward and swings at Razarak. Strauch is missed by his assailant, but Razarak's finds his mark, smashing into the sorcerer's shoulder.

Razarak takes 6 damage!

The archer in the tower takes aim at Jacobus and fires an arrow into the inquisitor's leg.

Jacobus takes 2 damage!

The recently tripped bandit takes a swing at Rufus while still on his backside, but fails to connect. Meanwhile two archers target Torsten, fearing a fate similar to their companion. One arrow strikes true, sinking deep into the wizard's left leg.

Torsten takes 7 damage!

The final archer targets Ivo, catching the gnome in the shoulder.

Ivo takes 5 damage!

RETIRED

Ivo takes a wild shot at one of the bandits (#4) and then ducks behind the stump for cover. (Like, trying to actually get a cover bonus to AC from it.)

With a guttural roar, Raz's hands seemingly sprout claws, which he then uses to claw the bandit who decided to go toe to toe with him;

Claw attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Claw attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

And roars again in triumph as he lands a solid hit with one of his claws.

The claws seemingly dissolve back into his hands after he slashes at the bandit.

He then takes a 5' step back towards the rest of the party.

Tove watches the carnage unfold around her and feels compelled to act out. Erastil's power flows through her as she channels positive energy out from her holy symbol.
Erastil's light flows out to all in need within a 30-ft radius, healing their wounds.
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 6

I'm sorry I can't channel selectively, I don't know what I was thinking picking Improved Channel instead. But given the choice between healing a few bandits or watching you all die, I have to cast now.
Red 2 and Blue 2 are out of range, everyone else in the clearing regains 6 HP.

Greenbelt Map Roll20 Link

That was a good exchange. The bandits with a red x are dead and beyond healing, so you helped your entire party and only healed two of the enemy. Well done. If it was really your intention to take selective instead of improved, make the switch after this combat.

Thanks for the opportunity to switch! I'll try to make do without it for the rest of this fight, I'm glad it was just two in the radius for now.

Yes, the healing was much appreciated Tove.

Torsten staggers with relief as Erastil's golden glow passes over him. A moment later he's ready to throw a spear again and does so, then readies his quarterstaff as he steps forward to meet another of the bandits. Strauch lets out a loud snort as he attacks the bowman distracted by Jacobus.

Torsten attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 + 1 bleed

Strauch attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Blue 4 took that spear. I forgot to add flank for Strauch but it would have missed regardless

I also think it was a good move. I should be able to tank nicely against the mooks but the leader was just killing me (literally?). :)

I smile as Erastils power washes over me and my wounds start to heal up. Feeling refreshed and revitalised I swing my blade at the fallen foe.

Dueling Sword Attack (Non-Lethal): 1d20 + 5 - 4 + 1 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 4 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 25
Dueling Sword Damage (Non-Lethal): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

I can't see the map on my phone, if this bandit is down, I shall get Rufus to move me to the next target that is threatening a squishy character.
