Once done with Rizzardo's wound, and learning about the man, we'll move on to talk to all the Chelish men, heading to speak with Ermolos next.

I don't have the game materials with me right now. I will have to handle the conversations with the various people in the room once I get home tonight. (about 4.5 hours from now).
No problem. As i'll be in bed by then, i'll look forward to checking in on the game tomorrow morning before my RL game kicks off at 11AM. Expect to see me posting from about 6/7PM GMT+0.
P.S Sorry if me and V have added more workload :P it seemed a very IC thing to do.

No problem what so ever. If I didn't want to make these people available to talk to, I wouldn't have mentioned them by name. :) Besides, you all are making very quick progress through the module. In fact there is only one more part to the planned encounter portion of it. There are a number of possible side encounters/missions that you could do yet.
Did anyone do anything with the letter from the Lord Mayor to the Paravicar?

Morghrim Maestros wrote:P.S Sorry if me and V have added more workload :P it seemed a very IC thing to do.Did anyone do anything with the letter from the Lord Mayor to the Paravicar?
The letter suggests two things- 1. That these 'Bastards of Erebus' are enemies of the Hellknights and thus our allies, or 2. They are a plague and a hindrance to the city; and it would aid our cause to be known as the ones who dealt with them for good. Either way, Morghrim suggests investigation is in order.
Valeron Legis |
Yeah, I kind of guessed that Talomyr wouldn't have gone through the trouble of giving us glimpses at all those NPCs unless there was _something_ we should've done with them. Probably should have talked to them more before releasing Arael, but we were bloodthirsty!
Morg - I like it.. maybe we should use some of these NPCs to spread rumors that the Bastards of E. have thwarted Westcrown's authorities, just ambushed fully armored Hellknights, and talk up how something must be done
Wart |
Wart relaxes a bit when Fiosa explains what Janiven and Arael have done for the halfling community. He thinks for a moment and raises an eyebrow, searching Fiosa's face for an underlying answer as she speaks.
"If they have gotten others out, how come you haven't left? Is it something to do with that House Mezinas?"
Knowledge (Untrained) Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 for what Wart knows or has heard of Andoran.
What do the Halflings of Golarion refer to themselves as? Hin, as in Forgotten Realms?"
Wart will definately want to investigate that third potion in the morning. Just checked the Spellcraft rules, and I only get 1 check per day.
EDIT: Cleaned up the post a bit, and added bit about potions.

Sense Motive - You don't feel there is anything amiss about the answer Fiosa gives you.
Knowledge - You know that Andoran is a democratically country on the Eastern border of Cheliax. More importantly perhaps from your perspective, slavery is illegal in Andoran.
Nothing other than halflings, in Cheliax, halflings are referred to as slips, but that is a more derogatory name than anything else.
DM Talomyr |
While tending to Rizzardo's wounds, you strike up idle conversation with the Varisian man.
"I ended up in Westcrown, really more on accident than anything. You see I was a stow-away on a Chelish ship, and was discovered. Fortunately for me, the captain was a bit kinder than the average Chelish captain, and only kicked me off the ship here. Since then I've been trying to make a living doing odd jobs here and there. As far as how did I end up here?" he says, motioning with his hand around the room, "Well you've seen Janiven, haven't you? Let's just say any opportunity to stay closer to her is one I'm gonna take."
"Don't get me wrong, the others here are good people too, especially Ermolos. He reminds me so much of my little brother."
The only thing that sound odd or off about what Rizzardo tells you is saying Ermolos reminds him of his younger brother...Ermolos is a fairly large, heavily muscled man.
Do you have more that you'd like to ask Rizzardo, or are you ready to move on to the next person? If you are ready to move on, who's next?
Kevorin |
Kevorin wrote:"I can help with that, too," Kevorin pipes up from his spot against the far wall. "I'm a terrible liar." Bluff check :1d20+6 Doesn't even crack a smile. What are you suggesting Kevorin help with? Morghrim and Valeron's suggestion?
Sorry, he meant the spreading of the lies that the Inglorious Bastards of Erebus were responsible for the ambush on the Hellknights.
Valeron Legis |
"Well your help today means things are back on track with Arael back in the fold," Valeron smiles at Rizzardo as he finishes tending to the man's wounds. "Your valor in the face of battle would make The Inheritor proud, I'm glad to share sides with someone as brave as you."
After getting a sense that Rizzardo was fairly trustworthy, perhaps noteworth due to a crush on Janiven, the Iomedan heads to speak with the muscled Ermolos. Wonder if that one was a warrior, or a smith with his size.?
Did we ever decide on name for the Resistance? Children of Westcrown?
DM Talomyr |
A name has not been decided upon yet, though Children of Westcrown is the default, unless you all come up with something you like better.
Valeron and Morghrim make their way over to the large, muscular man, who you see walk with a bit of a limp upon closer inspection.
Ermolos was one of the other rebels who went along to help free Arael.
(The other two were Sclavo and Larko)
"I can't thank you and your friends enough for bringing Arael back to us." he says extending his hand in friendship.
Knowledge(Local) DC18:
"Why did I join up with Arael? It's what my father would have done if he were still here."
After being asked what he does, he responds, "Well I've been an apprentice to the blacksmith, Pavo Wintrish. Had to find something to do if I'm going to eventually earn enough money to go to Thuvia to see if I can find my old man."
As you might expect with Morghrim's 29 on the Sense Motive check, there are no falsehoods being spoken here. After speaking to him, even though Ermolos is a large as he is, his manner and speech tell you that he is likely no older than 17-18 years of age.
Wart |
Wart nods at Fiosa's words and sincerity.
"You have a good heart Fiosa. I see that in you, and I thank you for being here and helping. It is always nice to see another halfling! A few more questions, if you will allow me, and then we should return to the others lest they start to miss us. How did you get involved in all of this? And, while we are on the subject, what is your status with your...hmm...employers is a preferable term I suppose."
Insert Fiosa's answer here
"Hmm, well, thank you for your time, and I hope to be able to be of service to your group here. Shall we return?"
Wart departs to the other room, hopefully with Fiosa, but regardless, he walks back into the other room. Inquisitively he looks about, then sighs as he notices that no one seems to react as if his presence or absence wasn't even noticed.
"What can I do to help the situation now? Also, if you all will allow me, on the morrow, I will examine that unidentified potion. I find that time provides a fresh perspective, and perhaps tomorrow I will have the acuity to discern its nature."
"Actually," Wart pauses as he subconsciously stands on his tip-toes to seem taller, "if you have no further need of me, perhaps I will retire for the evening. I am exhausted, and have much to study tomorrow while we hole up. Though I am always up for a spot of adventure."
Valeron Legis |
Where'd the little halfling wander off to? Valeron wonders, for a moment.
Seeing Morghrim give him a knowing nod, the Iomedan feels the boy is forthright with him.
"Someone who knows their way around a hammer and anvil is no doubt going to be very useful to the resistance, do you know your way with a sword yet?" Valeron asks the boy. Seeing there is some ambiguity in the question he adds "... in combat, of course?"
Morghrim Maestros |
Before the boy has a chance to answer, Morghrim abruptly interrupts and says- Well lad, if a blacksmith's apprentice ye be, I have a side project for you. This breastplate I wear? I need it to be stripped of the markings of these foul Hellknights. Just wearing their insignia makes my skin crawl...

"I could, but it will take some time. Pavo's shop is on the other side of town, and it's not likely wise to be carrying around Hellknight armor to modify. I'll have to take and make the modifications a piece at a time."
Turning his attention back to the original question, after answering the interrupting dwarf.
"Just barely. Really more about judging balance and whatnot, rather than fighting with one."
Valeron Legis |
Valeron thanks Ermolos for his time and offers up. "We did pick up some longswords today. Every man should learn how to use a blade for self-defense."
He wanders over to Cadwyn, and asks the warrior if he would be interested in seeing who among the group wanted some pointers in self defense.
Kevorin |
Kevorin will use his skills at deception to assist various resistance members in spreading the lies about the involvement of the BoE in the attack.
Knowledge (Local) (to know where to go to spread such rumours): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

DM Talomyr |
Morghrim questions the leaders of the resistance about the Bastards of Erebus, showing them the letter.
Arael takes the letter from Morghrim, and takes a few momement to read it over...
"Hmmm...interesting. To answer your question, the Bastards of Erebus, at least to the best of my knowledge, are a band of murderers and theives that use the name to strike fear based on the connection to the Nine Hells. You see, Erebus is the name of one of the Hells, the third layer to be exact."
Janiven takes the letter from Arael and briefly looks it over before commenting...
"If the mayor is so interested in getting rid of these 'bastards', perhaps our little group could take up the mission that the Hellknights don't seem concerned enough to care about. Could certainly earn us some good will amongst the citizenry."
After hearing Janiven's proposal, Arael turns to the party...
"You all certain proved yourselves capable warriors, would this be something I could convince you to do on our behalf? On top of what ever reward the Dottari may have for you for taking care of the bandits, I could sweeten the pot a bit. You see, I'm somewhat of an alchemist, though not as accomplished as your friend, Wart. If you supply the materials, I would certainly be happy to create whatever potions you needed."
To put into simple terms, Arael has the Brew Potion feat, and will make potions for you if you supply the materials. (i.e. you get potions at the cost to create them as opposed to them normal sale price.)
Wart |
Wart nods, stuffing more crumbs from a stale trail ration into his mouth, "Yes! That's great that you make potions! Perhaps we can work together? My knowledge is limited, but I am willing to help and learn!"
Working his way through the lonely room, now that the others have left, Wart licks his fingers absentmindedly, "You know, it is kinda morbid, but after stealing from those goblins and Hellknights, I do actually have a bit of coin to spend...I kinda like the thought of stealing from the Hellknights and spending it to help the resistance against them....anyway, are we allowed to go out, or should we send a runner to do various miscellaneous shopping trips? I can prepare a list, or I could take a list from others and go out...who is going to care about one more halfling..."
Wart sighs at his own comment.
"Regardless, I do have some things I want to work on, and that training you mentioned yesterday Valeron, interests me. I also need to take time and learn a new extract formulae, and I would like to spend some more time with that potion from yesterday that I could not identify."
EDIT: Also, how much is a wand of CLW, and do we have enough as a group to get one/how much is each persons recommended donation?
Valeron Legis |
Based on Kev's spreadsheet, if we sell most of our goods, we can definitely get a wand.
Also, now that it's morning I assume Kev's smear campaign against the Bastards happens, along with our trip to sell all the non-incriminating goods.
I suppose as part of poking around town, Valeron will ask about to see what folks can tell us about where the Bastards might be hiding about, or who their leader might be.
Here's a couple rolls for different districts, or what-not:
Diplomacy (for Gather Information): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Diplomacy (for Gather Information): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Before calculating shares, I need everybody to quickly post what loot they've claimed for themselves, then I need to know from Talomyr how many swords, armours, etc. they gave to the resistance. If everybody could send me an e-mail address, I can register you as able to edit the site yourselves, so you can indicate in the "Tentative Owner" slot the stuff you've taken by putting your character name in the blank.

Claimed the masterwork breastplate and masterwork mace- put a warhammer and scale mail into party loot. Haven't claimed any potions since we got given some each from Janiven.

Can you re-post a link to the share site too? :)
Valeron Legis |
Valeron thinks back to the prior night, and how many of the rebels looked like they would be capable in combat of using a sword. Ermolos, definitely. What about the other Chelaxians and Garundi?
I assume we'll probably keep ~3 melee weapons and ~3 crossbows to arm the combat-capable members of the resistance.
Assuming Cadwyn is good with it, I was hoping to arrange in the prior evening a chance to do a combat-training workshop this morning, with at least Ermolos, and after a vocal offering to anyone else in the room, whoever chooses to show up.
Kevorin |
Selling all but 3 of the longswords, scale mails, light crossbows, and heavy steel shields, the chain mails, wooden shields, armours and dogslicers from the goblins, and the masterwork heavy mace, that comes to 1104GP given the 60% resale rate Talomyr quoted. That would equal 184GP each. If somebody is taking the full plate, or one of the other valuable items, the should probably not get a share of coin, so those coin shares may go up.

Based on your observations, you would guess that the rebels might be suited for martial combat in the following order (best to worst): Ermolos, Rizzardo, Sclavo, Larko, Mathalen, Yakopulio, Vitti, Fiosa, Amaya, Gorvio, and Tarvi.
In the module, there are suggestions for what classes these folks might likely fit the best in, there are no duplicates and only the classes from the core are listed.
Valeron Legis |
I nabbed a masterwork longsword, so you can deduct my share accordingly to cover it's value.
A group purchase of a CLW wand would be 62.5g each. We should probably have Addie, Wart or Morg carry it, since Valeron can always channel energy. I'll happy contribute my 62.5g share to it's purchase as part of the day's shopping events.
.. the following order (best to worst): Ermolos, Rizzardo, Sclavo..
Looks like these three get some training in the morning, if they are up for it.

Ermolos, Rizzardo, and Sclavo each happily accept the opportunity to train with the group's warriors.
The soft-spoken Sclavo in particular seems to hit it off with Valeron, combining conversations about the Inheritor along with the weapons training.
Morghrim Maestros |
Morghrim assists in the training, although the only martial weapons he feels qualified to train the folk in are warhammers, battleaxes and glaives. He's a gruff and unforgiving teacher who utilises a strange mixture of fear tactics, grudging encouragement and humiliation to train them.
I'll happily take the Wand if you wish, although I can cast CLW anyway.

Rizzardo seems more keen on learning how to use the battleaxe and warhammer than a longsword. In fact, after working with these weapons for a bit he seems to have a natural gift for wielding a weapon in each hand.

Addie kept a light crossbow and 20 bolts from the Hellknights that we encountered in the sewers.
I will happily chip in for the CLW wand. Addie can cast CLW, but must memorize it beforehand. I'd be happy to use the wand if you all want, since Addie tries to stay on the outskirts of combat.
