Owwwwwwwwwwww

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Couple things, Olivius.
1. Horatio isn't Varisian.
2. What more does he have to do for you to stop loathing him? :P

Olivius_Telraven |

Olivius thinks he's varisian due to his musical abilities. He'll figure out the Korvosan roots as soon as he's thinking straight. Which he's not right now. It may not manifest until he gets a good night's sleep, but Horatio did just earn some respect. Standing up to a three armed freak that just downed Noro takes stones.

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Well, that's all fair and makes sense. I look forward to the eventual admission that Spoony isn't that bad after all. :P

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

So... You guys missing those +1's yet? :P

Pavanna Alazario |

Would’ve been nice to have, yes, but Pavanna seems to have scraped by without the IC. Not that she’s inwardly anything less than frantic at seeing H on the floor, of course, but right now she has to put her job in front of it. :-S

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

And when she doesn't have to put her job first, and has the luxury of freaking out a little? :P

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Dammit Olives! You can't draw inspiration from Spoony being knocked into negatives! You don't hate me THAT much! (I hope.)

DM-Salsa |

I can see Horatio and Olivius in a buddy XX comedy. (Replace XX with any genre and/or noun.)

So can I. It's too funny not to picture.

I totally can! I was the last man standing there for a moment! If that's not inspiring I don't know what is!

Pavanna Alazario |

Oh, my. Ronnie, I think Horatio might’ve got out of Korvosa just in time. Unless you feel like integrating bits of this into his backstory as well? ;-)

I saw that the day it was announced. What's more, I made the foolish mistake of bringing it to Salsa's attention.
Am I a fool, a masochist, or both?

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

What can I say, I like seeing my characters Earn Their Happy Ending.
Spoony is a particularly special case. In terms of how willing I am to see him put through the gauntlet, I'd say he's somewhere juuuuuuust below Neile, but well above Aramis, though she's pretty unflappable. (For why it's worth, Nic and Mickey hover somewhere around the middle.)

DM-Salsa |

Lucky for you, I'm a bit strapped for cash, and will be for a long while. As for the module, I'm not even sure I will integrate it since I don't know what the plot is.
That said, I need to prep for the next bit in the CotCT game.

Pavanna Alazario |

... should I say ‘sorry’ for running off at the keyboard again? I always feel like such a “look at me!” diva when I write those long posts. [blush]

Noro Kas |

well it was nice to know that you eventually recognized Noro needed help.
except I do have to wonder about some things...possibly Horatio will no be noro's punching bag anymore.... eyeing a certain tiefling.
of course that is all ooc knowledge at the moment

Olivius_Telraven |

YAY LEVEL 3! I've waited so long!
I just did some number crunching, and if we wanted to hit level 20 at the current overall rate of level gain, we would achieve it in Feburary, 2040...
How are we doing HP again?

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Salsa, would it be possible for me to retrain my 1st-level feat? Because that +1 dex modifier isn't going to make me much more useful in combat. I'm thinking I'll just embrace my Spoony side and accept that my actual combat usefulness is as the soundtrack :p
Also, it would be great to move faster, but I guess that's the danger of PBP. My own flakiness isn't helping...

Olivius_Telraven |

HP: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
That comment wasn't intended as a stabbing criticism or anything, just an interesting tidbit I calculated because of my own curiosity. If this game lasted until 2040 I would be happy. :)

Olivius_Telraven |

Feat: Combat reflexes. I now come into my own, kinda. I threaten out to 10 feet, constant AC 21, and have 4 AoO/rd. Come at me, bro.

Pavanna Alazario |

Well, if she raises it IC, Pavanna’s going to cite ‘triage rules’ again. In a crisis situation like that, trained para/military operators (like Pav) know that the worst-hurt who can still be saved get first priority for treatment; those beyond helping, and the ones whose wounds are survivable, have to wait. By the appearance of things, and the OOC numbers, H was (slightly) worse off than Noro, so he got the first dose of healing — and Pavanna turned her attention to Noro as soon as H was back into positives, so accusations of favoritism are (mostly) unfounded. ;-)
hit points: 4 + 1d4 ⇒ 4 + (4) = 8 Maxed out, nice! :-D
Speaking of retraining first-level feats, GM, I’m inclined to trade out Pavanna’s. Arcane Strike sounded like a good match for her semi-paladin feel at the outset, but it’s turned out that juggling two different choices for swift actions is a PITA, and I think archaeologist’s luck covers the ‘pseudo-smite’ feel quite well enough anyway. Especially now that she has a cleric level and access to spells like magic weapon and weapons against evil.
I’m thinking her first-level feat would go over to Fiend Sight (from the ARG), and her third-level feat will probably be Deific Obedience. (Well... personally, I think Fiend Sight fits Pavanna’s background as a first-level feat, but a case could be made that Scribe Scroll might be the better mechanical option.)

Noro Kas |

it wasn't the order of treatment, noro doesn't care if she is last healed.. it is something else that i may be reading between the lines

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Noro's getting jeeeeeeealous :P
I'll try to get a post up tonight - it's been a bloody rough week.
Reroll? Oh dear... You know my luck...
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 1) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 4) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 6) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 1) = 6
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 2) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 2) = 11
Oh for f%%%'s sake! Seventeen, fourteen, thirteen, ten, nine, FIVE?!
Salsa, my luck is truly abysmal...

Pavanna Alazario |

Maybe 6+3d6 (drop lowest) might work out better? If the GM approves, of course.

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Oh, look! I found the perfect .gif for how I feel right now! :D

Pavanna Alazario |

/me hugs Ronnie
Look on the bright side! I...
... you...
... erm...
... uhm...
...
... oh, I know! The official work week will be over in a couple of hours! You can go home and take your mind off all those hell-children and nightmare parents for the weekend! <.< >.>
And we’re third level now, and that’s not nuthin’.

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Well, my work week is now finally over. I can spend my weekend recovering from the cold I caught from the nightmare-children, and playing with Jacob's cats. But first, the low-down on what Spoony gets:
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 7 hit points, new spells (saving finale for extra spoony support; mending because holy s+#@ he's going through shirts like they're going out of style with all the stabbin's), feat (lingering performance, so if he goes down again, Olivius gets two rounds' grace to remember his bonusus :P), and skill points. Since I get ten of those (6 base +1 int +1 human +1 FCB +1 craft/perform/profession, as per Salsa's rules), I'm spreading them out as follows:
Knowledge (planes, dungeoneering, engineering, geography), Linguistics (taking Thassilonian, under the assumption that it can be picked up), Perception (2), Perform (strings), Sense Motive, Spellcraft.
As you can see, I've pretty much embraced the "spoony support" role. :P
Salsa, if that's what I'm rolling, I think I'll stick with what I have. >.>

DM-Salsa |

Let's go with Pavanna's idea. 6+3d6. Or as I said, I could roll if you want.
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) + 6 = 17 => 16
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4) + 6 = 12 => 11
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6) + 6 = 18 => 15
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) + 6 = 18 => 17
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6) + 6 = 18 => 16
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5) + 6 = 19 => 17
You're welcome to use those, by the way. :D

** spoiler omitted **

O_O I... I think I will take those, mate. Now to figure out how to assign them, and how to justify a sudden power boost in-game :P

Olivius_Telraven |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Horatio decides that all his life has just been a series of failed attempts to escape the nastiness that has surrounds him. He now sees that there are things, evil things, that deserve his real, full attention and that the half-way effort he has put forth thus far isn't going to cut it anymore.

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

I like it!

Asuriel Arktaros |

I've been going through some stuff recently and with Asuriel turned into a statue I've not been checking in here as frequently. I'll get caught up by the end of this weekend.

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

If this is what you mentioned elsewhere, I for one understand. Hope you're travelling alright, mate, and I'm sending long-distance hugs if you need them.

DM-Salsa |

You're in my thoughts and Prayers Asuriel. Here's to everything turning out all right.

Saroune Anzoletta |

HP: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Change Log:
+6 hp
+1 to Fort and Reflex saves
New Spells: cat's grace, scorching ray
New Skill Ranks (8 ranks): +1 Appraise, +1 Knowledge (arcana), +1 Knowledge (geography), +1 Knowledge (history), +1 Knowledge (planes), +1 Perform (dance), +1 Spellcraft, +1 UMD
New Feat: Combat Expertise

Horatio A Aldebrandt |

Reckon I'll be changing around my ability scores as follows with those too-good-to-be-true rolls:
STR 15
DEX 17
CON 16
INT 16
WIS 11
CHA 19 (17 w. +2 racial mod)
There, that looks better! :P
