Whoops, sorry Noro. I completely missed that you linked a concept. I'd have to drop a 'no' on the equipment (early firearms only, and you'd have to be from Alkenstar with a good reason to be in Torch), and on a more personal note, I'm a little leery of 'rape as backstory' as a whole. It's something that I've very rarely seen handled well, and that simply isn't an issue I ever want to bring into a game. I had a bad experience a while back with a GM who sprung it on the party, and it was enough that I haven't gamed with him since.

Hunters can totally work for SnS. You won't have your pet at first, but you can acquire it pretty early and it will help at times. Something amphibious or some way of geting a aquatic animal on land reliably would be necessary.
How about a bird companion? Perhaps a particularly vicious albatross? :P
Totally doable. There are some cramped quarters, but not too many.
Spoony, I need to send you a link to a roll20 game of S&S. The DM does a live stream of the game each week and he had the viewers give one word suggestions for quests and one got pieced together as "flaming, fiendish dire albatross".
They now have a character who reskinned the Kirin style as flaming albatross style. This conversation just made me think of that.

Well, I finally have some time to breathe. After no less than four Christmas celebrations (my mum's family, my dad's family, my stepmother's family, and my future in-laws), New Year's (in which I drank two glasses of bourbon & coke, watched three episodes of Doctor Who [including the Lonely Child] and went to bed at half ten), my mother's wedding, the bushfires (which are only just under control after raging across the hills for five days), and getting the olds ready for the honeymoon, I've been bushed.

I’m sorry to necro the discussion in the GM’s absence, but seeing this story on 4chan(!) and listening to the respective Youtube videos just made me think of Horatio. Specifically, it gave me the image of Horatio and Pavanna standing on the stage of the Sandpoint Theatre, duelling away with their violins and generally barding it up, performing “Devil Came Down to Sandpoint” and “Devil Came Back to Sandpoint” as duets/mini-plays. Horatio would naturally take the role of Johnny, with Pavanna as a/the devil, and other members of the party chipping in with SFX and vocals (perhaps Saroune as the narrator/lead singer?).
It’s a semi-random idea for a stretch of RP, I know, but the idea sounded so infectiously cool that I just had to share it. For whatever it’s worth.
