Just to amplify on this, now that I can use a landline at the library: my region of NZ has been having 'some' heavy rainfall in the last few days. My town is not one of those flooded, but the region's fibre-optics have been damaged and the ISP for my home is one of those that needs to wait for the repairs. The timeline for getting it fixed is currently unclear, and the library's computers are not available at the times when I'm usually free to post.

... and after all that fuss and drama, they got the system fixed less than a day after I made that post.
Still, I’ve got it pretty good compared to many: my house is dry, warm, powered, and now ’netting again; similarly, my town isn’t full of mud and silt, and I can drive to work and back (and so can the supply-trucks). Much better than those poor beggars in Whanganui, where the final clean-up may not be done for months, or the folks still blocked in by slips or wash-outs clobbering their access-roads.
Huh; for a ‘there but for the Grace of Deity’, that was remarkably gloomy.

Man, I'm looking forward to the school holidays... I have no idea whether I'll still have my job after them, but you know what, I don't think I even care as much as I should anymore. Every time I make progress with this kid, he just... he just throws it all back in my face. =(

Okay, today brought me one unadulterated ‘woo-hoo!’, one ‘oh, that’s nice’, and one ‘woo-hoo!’ with a ‘d’oh!’ corollary.
‘Oh, that’s nice’: yesterday’s outage of my home DSL was fixed before midnight. Here’s hoping it stays fixed. (Getting my phone/fax-line would be nice, too. The insurance company should have something to say about the claims on my rental property by now....)
Unadulterated ‘woo-hoo!’: my little brother Luke made it to Sweden okay and is getting settled in at Motala. He’ll be one of the competitors representing our country in the World Triathlon Championships on Saturday. (I didn’t mention it earlier partly because I didn’t want to jinx it and maybe get his plane MH17’d.... )
Second ‘woo-hoo!’: that No.6 plane I raised such a fuss about a couple of weeks ago? Has been located safe and sound!
‘D’oh’ corollary: ... because it never went anywhere. All the power-tools and chisels and such it should have been amongst are still missing, much to my vexation. However, the plane itself was never in that box, and just got uncovered at the bottom of another bin hidden under some plumbing gear. So now I feel kind’a like a dumbass.

Yeah, just got distracted with some other things. I need to make a map for the Jade Regent game and set up the one I have for the Wrath of the Righteous game. I just haven't done it, so things have ground to a halt while I get my act together.
I just need to sit down and do those things, unfortunately, I recently picked up a new hobby, and I've got an idea for a video game that I'm working on, so yeah.
Sometimes I wish I got paid just to surf the web. I'd be rolling in dough then. :D

Well, as you may have noticed, I've not been posting regularly in game for a few weeks. I was going to try and get things rolling again this weekend, but as you can see, I haven't made a lot of progress on that front either.
That said, I'm not abandoning this or any of the other three games. I will, however, be taking a break for a bit. I have some vacation time coming up on the 13th and 14th of July, so I'll be using that weekend to get ahead with some preparations and to resume posting. I know this is frustrating, but I'd rather take a short break and get back into things than to get totally burned out and not come back for a few months.
Sorry to do this, but it won't be long.
No worries, mate. Take the break, clear your head, and come back when you're ready to move us on. Spoony's drama can wait. =)

This afternoon, I saw a pair of Youtube clips wherein MegaBots Inc. called out Suidobachi Heavy Industries, challenging them to pit their Kuratas against the MegaBot Mk.II in the world’s first-ever duel between commercially-built giant robots. And Suidobachi said “You’re challenging the Japanese to a mecha fight? Bring it, baby!”
A third Youtube clip showed teenagers reacting to encountering dead-trees encyclopedias for the first (and possibly last) time.
... can somebody tell me precisely when the exact hell I got teleported into the future? :-X

Honestly, I remember going from VHS and cassettes, to DVDs and CDs, to digital movies and music in less than 15 years. From the time I was 10 or so to now.
Imagine what it's like for our grandparents. They went form vacuum tube radios and radial piston planes all the way to iPads and scram jets. It's an amazing thing how quickly technology has progressed in the past 100 years.

What a time to be alive.
Bad news time...
I know I just tried to get this going again, but I don't think I can do it and do some other things that I want to do, and that could potentially lead to a career shift for me. So, I'm putting this game, and all my other ones, on indefinite hiatus.
Why?
Well, to keep it brief, I've been working on a comic idea the past week or so that I've had for a few years now. I work on it when I get home which is when I'd normally write GM posts, since those posts take more time and when I'm at work, I can't take that amount of time from work to do even one post, much less four of them. So, as much as I want to keep this and the other games alive, I'm going to have to shelve it.
I am really sorry to you guys, and I hope that I can get these going again one day. I just don't know if or when I can.
All that said, if you guys are interested. I'll be releasing the comic on the web. and if you guys want to see it, I'll post a link to it once I get it going. As I said, I hope that one day, I'll be able to come back to these games. Until then, I hope you guys have a good time and enjoy yourself.
While I am sad to see this happen, I totally understand needed to prioritize. I hope your endeavor is a smashing success.

but yeah, something had to give and GMing was the thing that got the axe. Again, sorry about having to do this. I will PM all of you a link when it goes live, but that will likely be months away since I'm still developing the look and feel of the comic. Tone, thankfully isn't that hard. I mean, the whole thing gets kicked off when a little grey alien stills the main characters' project they were about to unveil, and it looks like a lunchbox. (The project, not the alien, although I could have lunchbox aliens...)

... and now it turns out that this ‘ad’ was actually for a sci-fi series called Humans, based on that very premise: robotic servants that can almost pass for flesh-and-blood. So once again I’ve made a great deal of fuss over a misunderstanding.
That said, I do stand by my proclamation of ‘future shock’. When I was a toddler, I used to read from a printed encyclopedia. For learning, partly, but mostly for fun.
These days, my two-year-old niece spends her days with her head buried in her iPad. Will she ever learn a proper appreciation for information that comes from ink on paper, or the feats of imagination that hardcopy requires and inspires? And if she doesn’t, will she realise what she missed?
Same here. Parenting ain't what it used to be, I'm tellin' ya.
Seriously though, this rate of tech advancement is redefining the nuances of just about everything.

Introduce her to roleplaying, that will spark an imagination like nothing else I've run across. Obviously, I wouldn't start with Pathfinder, but something where she's playing the heroine of her own story would likely get her interested.
That said, My head was buried in books about dinos, space, and rockets as a kid, and never really grow out of that. :D
Also, I have no kids nor nieces and nephews. I'm jsut speaking from my personal experience, so if what I'm saying is stupid, just ignore it.
Speaking of introducing people to roleplaying, I have a friend that was like "Do you play D&D? I've always wanted to learn but nobody around here plays."
