Still trying to pull the crossbow bolt out of his chest, the green-skinned bandit never sees Millsy coming and goes down with a cry of pain as the large cat tears his femoral artery.

In the future, to avoid confusion about if you mean your character's right or left vs the map's right or left, let's just try to use cardinal directions. If the map doesn't specify, North is up.

Also, Finnrick, I'll answer the implied question about how many attacks Millsy gets in discussion.

Artair's Readied attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Slashing: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

As the first green-skinned warrior steps up to attack the charging dwarf, he's immediately cut down. The second one looks between Millsy and Artair, uncertain who to attack.

1 Millsy, 2 Artair: 1d2 ⇒ 2

He finally settles on the dwarf, swinging his own axe at his head.

Greataxe vs AC19: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Slashing: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

The blow causes blood to gush from a brutal cut in the dwarf's gut. The creature clearly looks surprised that it doesn't immediately drop his foe. 12 damage to Artair

Everybody is up. There is one remaining, uninjured opponent.

@MCCL: Try to post with your alias rather than your main profile.

The rest of your journey that day is uneventful, and slowly all signs of civilization fade from view. With his excellent knowledge of the surrounding forest and the aid of the map, Finnrick has no trouble finding his way. As the sunlight begins to fade and a cold wind begins to rattle through the leafless forest, thoughts of making camp for the night start to pop into your heads. Once again, Finnrick manages to find what appears to be an excellent spot to camp. The ground is level and three sides are surrounded by a thicket of bushes.

This would have been a survival check, but it was only DC 10, so Finnrick would have autosucceeded with his +11.

There's plenty of wood nearby, and soon you have a roaring fire with a stew made from your rations cooking over it. In the distance, you can hear the sound of wolves howling to each other. Over the next hour, the howling seems to grow closer before falling eerily silent.

Any of the people listed in the spoiler above with Kn(Nature) can attempt this check.

Kn(Nature) DC 11:
This is a wolf. They generally hunt in packs and are rarely alone unless they're scouting. In fights, they generally try to trip their prey to make it easier to rip them apart (after all, your throat is closer is you're prone).

This particular wolf looks half-starved. Likely hunting has been scarce recently.

Since it's approaching night time, something you'll want to think about/discuss: are you sleeping in a bedroll or a tent and are you taking watches. Remember that you all need 8 hours of sleep and Erazmus needs to have those hours be consecutive for his spell casting. When you sleep, anybody injured will recover 1 HP (1 HP/character level).

Jaed starts looking around the camp for something. "I think we have some rope and I have a grappling hook. We could use those with some bait to make a trap in case those wolves come to visit us again. I'm going to start preparing it."

Do I need some kind of ability check to prepare the trap? Maybe the disable device skill also applies when preparing a trap?

"Etam, could you just put some sticks and dried leaves, as you suggested, to the East of our camp, please? The other flanks look covered by those bushes."

"As for the watch, Runvald could go after Etam if he is not too drunk and can stay awake for a couple of hours. As Finnrick breaks his meditation he had time to think about the moral dilemma that he was put in earlier in the night.

On one hand I understand why Jaed shot that wolf, he could have been a threat, but on the other hand I wish that he hadn't done it. It looked to me to just be hungry. I'm sure I could have helped it with a bit of food. I guess in the end Jaed did what he had to and I suppose it was the right choice.

"Jaed, can I help you set up some traps here is a length of rope and some of my rations as bait. Maybe a branch pulled down and either a snare or it could snap up the grappling hook. I would prefer a non lethal trap but I will help out with anything."

Finnrick hands over his 50ft. hempen rope and 1 ration.

"And we may want to build a smaller fire towards the entrance to deter the potential wolves. It would be better if we could scare them off and not have to fight any."

MotW NPCs Definitely not a vampire Slides | Knowledge Checks

For relatively simple traps, like the ones hunters might use, survival is fine. Jaed can aid with his Disable Device, but you probably wouldn't be able to use that as the base skill. For more difficult traps, Craft (traps) would be needed.

Finnrick is able to set up a fairly sturdy trap. He feels confident it will be able to handle any wolves who go after the ration held in its center.

Feel free to modify the map to put your traps (and/or tents) where you want. Thus far it sounds like you're going for a snare type trap?

I put up a trap on the map, Jaed feel free to move it wherever or add more. And the order looks good to me.

Also posting watch details because I won't be on until tomorrow morning.

During Finnrick and Millsy's watch Finnrick spends his time near the fire holding a small stone just big enough for his Sling and casting light on it every few minutes to keep it glowing. Millsy stalks about the camp trying to stay hidden.

That order looks good to me but I think the last watch can be shared by Artair and Erazmus because we only need 10 hours of rest. And yes, I was thinking about a snare (didn't know how it was called). I suppose we'll be ok with one trap, we don't want to surround ourselves of food that can attract more animals, right?

"Finnrick, you are more experienced with traps and animals than me so build whatever pleases you. I don't mean any harm to any wild animal... as long as they stay away from me."

After helping (or better said watching) Finnrick setup the trap Jaed sits next to the fire.
I should keep this fire to a minimum, we don't want to attract any more beasts.

Jaed rests his crossbow over his legs, unsheathes his short sword and leaves it next to him, prepared to whatever could happen. After everyone goes to sleep he just stares at the darkness of the forest, waiting for his watch to be over.

I'll look up if standing qualifies as a "move" for drawing a weapon after work.

As for Millsy, I'm not sure a creature with an Int 2 of can tell you if there's more wolves other than the two that you can see. Especially without sniffing about the area.

@Finnrick, in the future, you should actually move Millsy on the map.

The wolf to the South dodges past Jaed's blow only to run straight into Millsy's claws, which rip out its throat.

Meanwhile, the northern wolf doesn't fair much better as it barely manages to avoid having its heart pierced by Etam's spear, which seems to be calling for blood this day.

Artair, Runvald, and Erazmus still have their actions this round. There is one wolf remaining.

@DM I would have but I am posting from my phone and I can view the map but it won't let me move my character for some reason.

Ahh, ok then. Yeah, I think that's a known limitation of google docs on mobile.

Male Human Wizard 1 | HP 7/7 | AC 12 | CMD 12 | F +1 R +1 W +4 | Init +1 | Per +2

Force Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

With Erazmus' last force missile of the day, the second wolf also goes down.

Out of combat. If you want, you can stabilize the dying wolves or you can just let them die.

M Dwarf Drunken Master Monk (favored)

After a nice pull on his bottle of whiskey, Runvald felt in true form. He gracefully stumbles around Artair and over the corpse of the dead wolf to engage the remaining wolf.

I think I'm correct that I need an acrobatics role to avoid attacks of opportunity in this situation? Im also posting from mobile, having trouble with the map. Basically, I'm movinf to the square to the left of the Wolf corpse.

acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

fist, flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 2 = 131d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Runvald's attack would have just barely missed.
