If you guys are lacking alchemist fire, the swarm is basically invulnerable, so let me know what you'd want to do flavor-wise and perhaps this is run loosely out of initiative.

Grand Lodge

male Human Fighter-1, Rogue (Knife Master)-2: HP (28/28): AC (18/touch=12/flat=15): Saves (Fort=4/Ref=5/Will=0): Initiative +4: Perception +7: Sense Motive +0

I got 2 alchemist's fire. will that be enough? I didn't use a move on my turn, so perhaps I could pull one out for next round's attack?

The Exchange

HP 42+12/84; Rage available 14/21; Reroll at +4 0/1; Infernal healing 49/50 Barbarian-6; DR 3/-;AC 17; Fort +10(+12); Ref+5; Will +6; Perc +9; Init +2; resist cold/1

Iso also has a single flask of alchemists fire. But probably wouldn't think to use it until someone else does first. Hey, low initiative - it works for a change!

Sovereign Court

Male Human Druid 1; HP 13/13; AC: 16, CMD: 16; Fort +3, Ref +2, Will +4;

I was planning on buying swarm-stuff with the proceeds from this adventure. If you guys can handle it I'll try to protect the girl, otherwise I saw we grab her and run (cowards never die).

Grand Lodge

male Human Fighter-1, Rogue (Knife Master)-2: HP (28/28): AC (18/touch=12/flat=15): Saves (Fort=4/Ref=5/Will=0): Initiative +4: Perception +7: Sense Motive +0

anyone got a decent dex? I'd hate to waste it because I couldn't hit it. I can hand you the item, and let you "do the deed"!

Sovereign Court

Male Human Druid 1; HP 13/13; AC: 16, CMD: 16; Fort +3, Ref +2, Will +4;

I'm +2 to hit ranged.

The Exchange

HP 42+12/84; Rage available 14/21; Reroll at +4 0/1; Infernal healing 49/50 Barbarian-6; DR 3/-;AC 17; Fort +10(+12); Ref+5; Will +6; Perc +9; Init +2; resist cold/1

+3 to hit ranged here. I suspect we may need multiple flasks anyway. Just make sure we are back from the swarm before throwing so we don't splash ourselves.

GM Rolls:

Swarm: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Round 1
17 Fronar : Inspire courage
16 Gaius : Stabilize on girl
9 Spiders : Swarms on Race
3 Iso :
7 Race :

Round 2
17 Fronar :
16 Gaius :

Fronar begins another inspirational dance while Gaius tends to the girl's wounds. Hundreds of spiders begin leaping at Race, scrambling under his armor and biting him. At least, that's what you all assume is happening beyond the large curtain that separates the two rooms. (Race takes 1 damage)

@Race: You also need to make a DC11 save vs distraction to avoid becoming nauseated and a DC11 save vs poison or take 1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage.

Silver Crusade

Max HP: 40; Current HP: 27 AC: 21 (touch 13; FF 19); CMD: 18; F/R/W: +5/+3/+3 (+4 vs fear); Perc: +4; Initiative: 5;

Fort vs Distraction: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Fort vs poison: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Of course. :)

Can Race at least grab and pick up the box?

The Exchange

HP 42+12/84; Rage available 14/21; Reroll at +4 0/1; Infernal healing 49/50 Barbarian-6; DR 3/-;AC 17; Fort +10(+12); Ref+5; Will +6; Perc +9; Init +2; resist cold/1

Hearing the screams Iso moves through the curtain (I8), pulling out the flask of alchemists fire.

"Sorry Friend Race

He shouts as he throws the flash of liquid fire (splash weapon at swarm G8)
range touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
miss: 1d8 ⇒ 6

The fire still lands on the swarm, but unfortunately also on Race!(f7)

fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 <= add 50% to swarm if I remember correctly.

Grand Lodge

male Human Fighter-1, Rogue (Knife Master)-2: HP (28/28): AC (18/touch=12/flat=15): Saves (Fort=4/Ref=5/Will=0): Initiative +4: Perception +7: Sense Motive +0

Fronar moves just through the curtain and tosses the alchemist's fire at the swarm. Sorry Race, we can heal you though. At least you caught the Saving Finale.

Fronar's performance comes to a stop as Race feels a surge of inspiration from Fronar, make another roll for the failed save!

alchemist's fire: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

1 fire damage to Race caught in the splash

The box is easily picked up, but it's just a decoy/trap left here, so it's not the box you're looking for.

I'm also not going to worry about running this super tight (i.e. you can't draw a weapon while you move unless your BAB is +1, and you also couldn't draw an alchemist flask while you move...)

The swarm continues to focus its feasting on Race while the other Pathfinders dig through their gear for alchemical fires.

Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

7 damage total done so far to the swarm.

@Anyone who has one: Go ahead and lob your final alchemist fires... the magic number of damage to do is 3 (or 2 with an alchemist fire since it does 50% more).

The Exchange

HP 42+12/84; Rage available 14/21; Reroll at +4 0/1; Infernal healing 49/50 Barbarian-6; DR 3/-;AC 17; Fort +10(+12); Ref+5; Will +6; Perc +9; Init +2; resist cold/1

Iso rips down the curtain and frantically starts trying to set it on fire with his tinder box.

survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Once alight he prepares to throw it over the swarm of spiders.

Improvised area of effect fire damage. DM can determine how much damage a flaming curtain does to a swarm of spiders

Silver Crusade

Max HP: 40; Current HP: 27 AC: 21 (touch 13; FF 19); CMD: 18; F/R/W: +5/+3/+3 (+4 vs fear); Perc: +4; Initiative: 5;

2nd Fort Vs poison: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Looks like he was just destined to fail that save.

So the box isn't any bigger than the evil one? Rats. I had hoped it would act like a shield. I guess they'll have to take the box and the girl and let the Pathfinders sort it all out.

Escaping the spiders and friendly fire of his associates, Race snags the box and runs back in the room.

Then he drops the box and starts shuddering and rubbing at himself to get the few remaining spiders off himself. A few girlish "Ewwww"s may also ensue.

Grand Lodge

male Human Fighter-1, Rogue (Knife Master)-2: HP (28/28): AC (18/touch=12/flat=15): Saves (Fort=4/Ref=5/Will=0): Initiative +4: Perception +7: Sense Motive +0

Fronar hopes his last alchemist's fire is enough to do the trick. He grabs it and throws.

alchemist's fire: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

cross your fingers, "anything EXCEPT a 1, anything EXCEPT a 1, anything EXCEPT a 1!"

damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Of course... 1

Thanks for the leniency DM Panic, but for the record, I did post that the alchemist's fire was "drawn" the round before, so Fronar had it in his hand before moving and throwing.

Silver Crusade

Max HP: 40; Current HP: 27 AC: 21 (touch 13; FF 19); CMD: 18; F/R/W: +5/+3/+3 (+4 vs fear); Perc: +4; Initiative: 5;

Seeing that the spiders are still there, Race grabs the box above the doorway and suggests an alternate strategy. "RUN!!"

@Fronar: The move action to draw was for Iso, not Fronar. It's all good, I don't want to hang up on this last fight that you guys almost skipped, though. And I don't want to punish you guys any further... I like Iso's flaming curtain idea.

As the spiders continue to feast on poor Race and he continues to feel their venom course through their veins, a joint assault by Fronar with his last alchemist's fire and Iso with a deadly flaming curtain stamps out the little creatures' lives.

Once again the room is quiet, yet this time has something of an odor of burnt spider.

Race discovers the metal box in the entry seems to be nothing more than a decoy and hurls it to the ground in frustration while the four Pathfinders and little dinosaur approach the pulsing metal box above the portal and scratch their heads at its purpose.

A closer inspection of the box above the arch seems to indicate it is more cylindrical in shape than rectangular.

Iso leaps up and rips the box from its location at the apex and tears it open like a tin can.

Inside, he sees the sort of the pulsing magic.

It's a brain. Fully intact.

He feels a slight tingling inside his head.

Yesss... you will be my next vessel... replace my lid and suggest to your companions nothing is wrong and I will show you ultimate power.

No Will Save needed. Do your thing, Iso. :)

Silver Crusade

Max HP: 40; Current HP: 27 AC: 21 (touch 13; FF 19); CMD: 18; F/R/W: +5/+3/+3 (+4 vs fear); Perc: +4; Initiative: 5;

Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

He makes a second save, if needed.

Silver Crusade

Seeing that they were able to deal with the spiders after all, Race, rather red-faced, stands by the entrance, ready and eager to move out.

He feels a horrible crawling sensation, quickly rips open the tie on his trousers, and nearly passes out as five errant spiders make their escape. He ruthlessly crushes them under his boot, stomping them repeatedly into goo.

Grand Lodge

male Human Fighter-1, Rogue (Knife Master)-2: HP (28/28): AC (18/touch=12/flat=15): Saves (Fort=4/Ref=5/Will=0): Initiative +4: Perception +7: Sense Motive +0

"I'm really not sure what to do with a living, evil brain. Would this be somethiong the Captain would want brought back to the lodge for investigation?"

The Exchange

HP 42+12/84; Rage available 14/21; Reroll at +4 0/1; Infernal healing 49/50 Barbarian-6; DR 3/-;AC 17; Fort +10(+12); Ref+5; Will +6; Perc +9; Init +2; resist cold/1

Bwhahahahha

"But Iso already has ultimate power!"

Says Iso to the brain in a box.

He tips the brain out. If possible onto the remains of the still smoking curtain.

"See?"

Turning to the others he continues to talk

"Society just want cylinder, not evil contents, right?"
he asks, eyes all innocent.

"Or should I maybe kick it through that portal?"

Iso backs up, looking like he is lining up a kick for goal...

As Iso's tips the cannister out and the brain flops onto the smoldering curtain, it screams in agony as it quickly catches fire.

The sound is horrible like a million tiny voices all crying out. Finally, they are silenced as the brain flares up one last time in a green burst.

Imrizade shifts in her unconscious state, mumbling something. Yet, something is different. Her voice is no longer dark and menacing, but is instead something like that of a young girl - scared and alone.

Congratulations! You all survived Voice in the Void... barely!

The Exchange

HP 42+12/84; Rage available 14/21; Reroll at +4 0/1; Infernal healing 49/50 Barbarian-6; DR 3/-;AC 17; Fort +10(+12); Ref+5; Will +6; Perc +9; Init +2; resist cold/1

The gods looked upon us with favour and granted us peace. Well, success anyway. Millions of screaming voices in your head is not exactly peace.
