GM, what's your ruling on speaking while stunned? RAW, it's a free action and the stunned condition states that you can't do any actions.

No point in retconing now, but the next time an enemy adjacent to Rakara feels the urge to 5-ft step away and cast a spell or use a ranged attack, remember that Rakara has Step Up and can make that enemy eat a concentration check or AoO.

I was operating under the wands don't provoke rule. As such Velriana did not worry about provoking and moved accordingly.

Rakara is free to use her rolled attack as her AoO and roll a new attack if she wishes.

If her own player fails to remember her feat I'm not sure why I should be held to a higher standard. :P

And the provoked AoO is kind of a screwy rule seeing as how using wands doesn't provoke but the ranged touch does. So one can shoot a fireball from a wand and not provoke but a scorching ray does. Casting defensively won't work as activating the wand doesn't need a check and as per rules: "Ranged touch attacks provoke an attack of opportunity, even if the spell that causes the attacks was cast defensively."

Its something of a passive feat, not one you'd expect to declare usage of each round.

I was thinking of the AOO for the ranged touch attack, rather than wand usage aye.

You are absolutely correct, Chad, and that's why I said it was probably a moot point to retcon.

In general, Step Up (and the other feats in the chain) are easy to forget, but can have a huge impact on the fight, especially when fighting a caster or archer. And the PbP format does not help.

On one hand, you are correct in that it should not be the responsibility of the GM to remind players to use their character abilities. On the other hand, in PbP you either have to wait and ask, or risk having to retcon, possibly several actions.


I never have a problem retconning things. :)

I forgot about Step Up, and didn't think Velriana was provoking anyhow. If I had I wouldn't have stayed adjacent to Idorii.

I could have retconned a step to I,10 but this combat has gone on long enough and is past the point of determination. :)

You guys don't find the fireball vs scorching ray difference a little kooky at least? :P

Both of us took extra healing. Once I get a wand we should be fully stocked for the next delve on healing at least.

Is pretty obvious what kheled will be taking. Divine scrolls and the wand of CLW. I will give first dibs to all the other equipment to the front liners.

Much of this is well suited for our divine and arcane spellcasters. Any of our Medium-sized melee types who fancy a magic spear?

Myron may want to grab the ion torch and the potion, but otherwise there's not much of this he can really use.

Senenmerek's keys should come in handy as we explore the remaining dungeon.


Dumah could make use of the spear. I don't know that it would be his go to weapon of choice, but when faced with a foe with immunities it could make an appearance.

Rakara would like the mithral chain shirt, but that is about it. I have made a 3rd level. Will update it here shortly.

I'm not sure your rules about dividing treasure but I always assume that most consumables are used for party benefit are not counted into the value when dividing stuff up. How do you work it?

The scrolls may be a different case but the wand of CLW I was assuming would be a party item.

I was thinking we would sell the spear unless someone wants to use it? It is worth a fair amount. We also need to take into account that the bracers of armor +1 might be going to our new "friend" as she gets first dibs of Velriana's treasure.

Anyone want to fight me for the chain shirt? I just would like to know so I can update my character if I get it.

Also we have the adamantine flail that I am carrying. I would like to not carry it as it puts me into a medium load and affects my AC among other things.


As far as I am concerned, you can have the chain shirt. And Dumah can carry the flail as a back up weapon, unless we want to sell it.
