Rakara grew up in the environs of Wati. Her orcish heritage, while manifesting itself more as a distinctive ugliness than with the tusks and skin colour of the kind, made her somewhat of an outcast in the city. She was always on the fringes of society but was "adopted" by a local group who specialized into turning the youngsters of Wati with nowhere to go into their own little army of thieves. Rakara’s size prevented her from becoming a master thief as she quickly began to sprout up and became too large to sneak into the small spaces like the other children. Her saving grace was an affinity for spotting and disarming the various traps the wealthy of Wati liked to employ to guard their treasures. When her size began to prevent her from from reaching anything but the outer door traps her "family" began to hire her out to various tomb raiders to assist in their endeavours. During this time she gained experience with actual combat and further honed her trap finding skills. Recently her "family" was dispersed and she found herself on her own. Her most recent experiences and the new opportunities offered by the Ruby Prince drew her to join an adventuring company on her own terms and begin the treasure hunting in earnest.

She was very loyal to her “family” and learned that the way to survive was to follow their very well enforced rules. As a result she is lawful neutral. She respects and follows diligently the rules of whichever group she is associated with.
