Any reason why we don't just finish up the exploration of this site and have the new players join when ready?
We can take control of the playerles PC's until we get to a fitting point for them to say goodbye and join up with new team members.

With Pherenike gone and her blessed weapon laying unclaimed in the sand, I'm not sure you can defeat the Div. Even with Mus'ad. I was thinking of having the two new players join the fight immediately... say by being members of another one of the other teams just passing by and seeing/talking to Pherenike as she is leaving.
But if you wish to press on without the new players we can and they can join later when they have their characters ready... if you survive that is. Mwahahahahahaha! ;)

Hi everyone. I was told to drop in and express my interest in joining your intrepid band. I can work on a character and join in when everyone feels its appropriate. Any thoughts on what you'd like to see?
Welcome Mark!
The party has lost/is missing their tracker, trap finder/bypasser and a good portion of their melee muscle. And remember there are two new players, so you don't have to cover everything yourself. :)
Maybe Balani just switches games as is and you take Ansha suggestion and play the paladin? :)
markofbane |
I do like the idea of a paladin; this seems to be an AP that doesn't run a lot of risk of moral dilemmas for one. :)
I also have a thought for a ranger that would lend some melee strength as well as trapfinding. Let's see what Balani's player would like to do. Do we know yet if she'll be joining us?

Pleased to meet you, Aphin.
A ranger/rogue sounds just fine for what the group needs.
At present, the remaining PCs are:
- Professor Aristedes: Dirge bard
- Elrisiel: Aasimar diviner
- Kheled: Oracle (life)
- Myron, halfling Lore warden
Myron is going to switch to knife master rogue next level and pursue that path, focusing on skills and combat support through flanking and Butterflys Sting.
Rakara Sandtrapper |
Here is my contribution to the party. I too need to know the wealth I should start with as thieves tools aren't free and disabling a trap with a crowbar uses a little less finesse than I would like :)
Rakara is a native of Wati so also should have a little local knowledge.

From our last (and only) treasure sale:
Looks like we're skipping the party funds/healing for now. I guess the strain/injury rules do remove most of the need. People can stock up on an extra emergency potion or two individually.
A quick calculation of the sales worth of everything except the consumables plus the coins comes to 10.085 gp and 42sp.
Divided by six that's 1680 gp and change for each party member.

*Random paladin of Sarenrae wanders in*
"Dumah, eh? Knew a fellow by that name once. Decent chap, but not much of a warrior. More of the bookish type, really. And not quite so green and toothy. But as good a teammate as you could ever wish for. And you can't go wrong with a paladin on the team. I say you should consider keeping this one around."

Sorry I don't have more time atm to play/flesh this out properly, but I would like to get the game going again asap.
The quick and dirty background for you two is that you were just recruited yesterday to a team, the "Sand Scorpions", lead by a woman called "Black Kiss". They had run into trouble on their first foray into the Necropolis. They had been assigned a perfumery and incense shop. Before they had explored much of the site, however, they found themselves caught up in what seemed to be a turf war between rival gangs of ghouls. The Scorpions were able to retreat, but not before two of their members were paralyzed by the ghouls.
You two were their replacements, and you set out this morning to complete that assignment. It did not go any better this time out and the rest of the original Scorpions are either dead or missing. The two of you were able to escape and while heading out of the Necropolis, you come upon a Taldan woman leaving a walled estate in a hurry and in some distress. Assuming she was on one of the other teams, you hailed her. After a brief conversation, you understand that her team is within the estate and battling a horde of flying heads. Pherenike has been bitten and has left her team to seek immediate medical attention. As she talks a clump of hair falls out of her head and she wishes you good luck and hurriedly leaves.
As she begins to walk off she turns and mentions that she left a weapon on the first floor, in an inner courtyard, that has been covered in blessed oil. It should prove very effective against the foe the team is facing. She then turns again and departs.
If you have any questions, fire away.

Rules question: Can Myron wield the flail? My interpertation of the text below says no, but I'm not that familiar with using oversized weapons.
The measure of how much effort it takes to use a weapon (whether the weapon is designated as a light, one-handed, or two-handed weapon for a particular wielder) is altered by one step for each size category of difference between the wielder's size and the size of the creature for which the weapon was designed. For example, a Small creature would wield a Medium one-handed weapon as a two-handed weapon. If a weapon's designation would be changed to something other than light, one-handed, or two-handed by this alteration, the creature can't wield the weapon at all.

Dumah, looking at your damage calculation for your smite attack, what is the +2 for?
It seems to me that you didn't include the bless or IC, so ignoring those, I have for you: 2d4+6(str+2handed)+3(powerattack)+4(smite)
In my game post I added in bless and IC for a +2 to hit and +1 to damage. Myron's aid another gave you another +2 hit. Flanking was available for anther +2 but was not utilized (or needed in the end).
I am so glad that fight is finally over! :)
Dumah |
The +2 is an error. I originally was adding +2 for the smite bonus damage and I posted it. Then I realized it should have been +4 since it was an evil outsider. I went in to edit the roll, but I mistakenly added it to the +2 instead of replacing it. I'm sorry about that. I didn't catch the Bless and didn't include that in my numbers.
Professor Aristedes |
Gold from last split now added to sheet.
I note from this loot split I am claiming the +1 light crossbow, any objections suggest we roll off.

I should ask, who is the leader of this group? or if no designated leader, who usually makes the decisions? Rakara is definitely not the type to take a leadership role.
That's part of the quandary we're in. Theoretically, Professor Aristedes is the leader-ish type, but AK has been hard to find between bouts of overwork, and so oKOyA had him temporarily exit in an earlier IC post.

I will be in the UK on holiday for the next 10 days. I will have internet and am planning to check in but just in case I disappear for a day or so you know why. Thx.
Alex, if you live in the Manchester area (or north of there) let me know, maybe we can grab a pint sometime!
Otherwise may be tough since my time will be spent in the north of England.
