The party opens the door and goes right to work. Only to find a spear come to greet them. The spear goes over the dire rat and directly into Colyne. Besides the trap the room seems devoid of any life. The door in the northeast is closed.
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Colyne takes 3 dmg. Come now you did not think I was the predictable type of DM did you. >:D

Nngara Erebrian |

Guys, those are some thick chains. And we only have about a minute left before these spells run out. We know there are at least 4 trogs, lets find them and eliminate them now.
I am sure the 4-armed beast has the key, which way did they go, so that we can track them down and kill them?

DM Irthos |

Indeo can tell the man has suffered some wounds but his life is not in danger. The man replies to Indeo's question.
"I was exploring the tower and was captured. Its that simple, my name is Balenar Forsend. The trogs normally sacrifice captives shortly after capture, you had good timing."
At Nngara's words he gives her a sharp look.
"Your not going to find them in under a minute, unless it has escaped you that trogs may be simple but their master is not. I warned you to leave because I knew they would respond by abandoning the room. You dont allow an enemy to escape without expecting them to return. Would I be correct that you encountered a trap in the other room. They know their under attack now, its reasonable that they are prepared for you. Freeing me to aid you is a better move then rushing thru the place."
Balenar is watching the group.

DM Irthos |

Byron manages to free Balenar of his chains. He rubs where the chains dug into his flesh. He shakes himself as if getting used to his own body again. He replies to Byron.
"As nicely as yourself, not even a thank you. That beast would have made easy work of you. Granted now he will be ready but so is the price of a advantagous battle ground."
He leaves the tiny room he was held in. Once in the room that formerly held the troglodytes and their leader he makes his way to the rusty iron chest. He flips it open and start taking out items. He quickly dones most of the items while pocketing others. Once he is finished he seems more the explorer he claimed, wearing studded leather with a buckler on his arm and a rapier on his hip. Along with a shortbow and quiver with arrows on his back, all his gear is of masterful make.
"So what do you intend to do?"
You noticed Balenar pocket a compass like object.
The object is a Wayfinder, created and used by Pathfinders.

DM Irthos |

Balenar looks at the halfling with a blank face.
"Well then you should know we dont advertise. Goes against our survival training, at least for the smart ones. Mind if we save this little inquire for another time, I mean I want revenge and you guys have your own reasons I am sure."
Blasted bard, jk. You guys have Balenar as a temp ally. Also you have two rooms in the north that are unexplored, with both the 3rd and 5th floor unexplored. Your buffs will not last for much longer.

DM Irthos |

Balenar looks at the dwarf.
"Oh yes why not let the beaten and battered former prisoner take the lead with his light leather armor over the the sturdy warrior with his metal armor. I would have to respectfully decline that offer. As for where the trogs went, your guess is as good as mine. Better I would say as I have been in a locked room. But I would venture a guess that they have gathered all in one place for safety in numbers. I did not come across any rooms on the 1st, 2nd, or most of the 4th floor that could hold that many. I could not enter the 3rd floor and I never made it to the 5th floor."
Balenar is not at full HP in case anyone missed that. Their is a door that leads to the northeast in the room connecting to the stairway.

Indeo Hospice |

Balenar is not at full HP in case anyone missed that. Their is a door that leads to the northeast in the room connecting to the stairway.
Thats what my heal check was intended to reveal. Also my suggestion about him going first wasn't supposed to be audible to him, lol.

Byron Radanavich |

Byron shrugs.
"Well, if all of the 'Trogs' have gathered together in one spot for protection, we might as well slowly and methodically search what is left of the tower..."
He then moves off to check the remaining door on this level for traps...
Perception (take 20) = 26 (27 Vs. traps).

Nngara Erebrian |

What do you mean "WE"...LOL
Colyne reaches the door, then bows in a flourish towards Byron.
"Perhaps you have skills better to examine this door for traps or check that nothing is on the otherside waiting to strike me again!!"
DM posted that the door was untrapped 2 posts up.

Colyne |

Yeah...I know...but that still does not stop Colyne from getting turned into a pin cushion!!!I was hoping he might have better perception to hear what is on the other side of the door!
Colyne steels himself for more damage, pushes the door open and stays flat against the wall while Byron looks into the room

DM Irthos |

Bad move Colyne.
As soon as the door opens a pair of tongues fly out at Colyne and Byron. Both sticky tongues land and pull the pair forward. Colyne is the first to be bitten while Byron is just out of reach. Colyne's armor saves him for the time being.
touch 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
touch 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Giant Frog 1 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Giant Frog 2 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Colyne 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Byron 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Deslin 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Nngara 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Indeo 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Deslin
Nngara
Giant Frog 2
Giant Frog 1
Indeo
Byron
Colyne
Colyne and Byron are grappled. Deslin and Nngara are up. The giant frogs are sitting side by side.

Colyne |

For the love of....thats it!! I need to get a big shield to hold in front of me whenever I open a door!! lol
Using his axes, Colyne strikes out at the large froggies!!
Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Take that froggie...I attack the one that bite me!!

Nngara Erebrian |

What do I know about these frogs?
Knowledge(nature):1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Seeing the grappled fighters, I use my telekinetic fist at Frog 1:
Telekinetic Fist:
Ranged-Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage:1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

DM Irthos |

Deslin and Nngara use magic against the frogs. One falls asleep only to be awaken by a magical strike. They both pull again, both frogs bite down on their victims only to swallow them into their large chopping mouths.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
1d4 ⇒ 2
1d4 ⇒ 2
Its a gaint frog, an animal with low light vision and scent abilities. They can move at about 30 ft. both on land and in water. These have a habit of swallowing whole their meals. Due to their size their prey has extended to larger creatures as well.
Colyne and Byron are still grappled, Colyne takes 6 and Byron takes 5 dmg each. Both can attempt to cut their way out with an attack vs AC 10. Frog 1 has taken 6 dmg. Indeo, Byron and Colyne are up in that order.

Nngara Erebrian |

This is the problem with not allowing any variable options. As Deslin went before me, the frog would have been asleep by the time my initiative came around and I would certainly not have attacked a sleeping frog if there was a live one standing next to it.

DM Irthos |

Colyne manages to cut his way out of the frog causing it to spit him back out. Balenar darts in using his rapier on the frog swallowing Byron, his swing goes wide.
"Bah we need to kill this one before it eats him."
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Frog 1 takes 3 dmg. Colyne is no longer grappled. Deslin and Nngara are up in that order.
