OOC: I got a 9 on perception? That really is a good bed! I will assume that Val came to wake me while Leonel is waiting an opportunity to act and before visiting Leonel's room
Usually Barrin wakes early for a ritual of breakfast and reading. But since he haven't use any arcane arts on the previous day he decided to enjoy the bed. However his rest was abruptly interrupted when he felt a hand over his mouth.
He was about to cast a defensive spell when recognized Val's face and the the signal to remain quiet. Very awake now and with his dagger on hand he remained barefoot following the rogue's lead.

![]() |

If that's fine with Val, go ahead. I haven't had a chance to update anything just yet, so I apologize, I just didn't want to leave everyone hanging already into the encounter. Basically, everyone that is awake and aware has 1 round worth of actions, and the small female figure does not realize the Leonel is up yet, so keeps going through his items, looking for something, though as she tosses aside things that are valuable, your not sure what she might be seeking.

![]() |

Actually, can I also get an Init roll from everyone, too.

![]() |

Ok with me on waking Barrin, that was my plan, moving on to the next room or whatever we may encounter. As he walks he tries to hear if there is anything that might direct his approach.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

![]() |

Initiative 1d20+2
Did we resolve the Sczarni mission?
Yes, I believe all but Andoran are good and we will get to that a bit later. I should hopefully be able to update later today so we can get things moving along.

Small Figure (22)
Davian (21) <Unaware>
Barrin (19)
Val (15)
Garak (10)
Angruf (7) <Unaware>
Leonel (4)

![]() |

Can I get a stealth roll from anyone moving around outside of Leonel's room.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
For some reason, my last post from yesterday seems to have gotten eaten by the net. Anyone that is awake outside of Leonel's room has 1 more round of actions. [Maniacle Laugh]Choose wisely . . .[/Maniacle Laugh] :)

![]() |

As he walks he tries to hear if there is anything that might direct his approach.
Perception = 28
From Leonel's room, you can see the door slightly ajar, and what seems like randoms thuds as his gear is being lightly tossed about on the floor. Occasionally, (depending on how long you want to listen), you will hear a female voice whispering to itself with a tone of distress or irritation about not finding anything good.

![]() |

Davian (21) <unaware>
Barrin (19) <may take a rounds worth of actions>
Val (15) <moved to Leonel's door>
Garak (10) <may take a rounds worth of actions>
Angruf (7) <unaware>
Female ? (5)
Leonel (4) <can have a Surprize round, or may take a full round action but will startle the female figure>

![]() |

There is some sort of small, sword-like weapon on her back, and if she has armor, it is of the Light variety. Oddly enough, she also seems to be cradling a small humanoid skull. . .

![]() |

As soon as you get up out of bed, she drops a few things of your's, flips around, screams, and starts running towards the window. She got a 19, sorry.
Her scream is enough to wake the others, but they are losing their first round as they get up, notice their room, and run to Leonel's room, where everyone begins. . .
CHASE TIME
Please reread the link in the discusion about the Chase rules. But here is aquick guide.
You take a -2 penulty if your speed is less than 30ft, and get a +2 bnus if it is greater than 30ft.
Each Round, you move into the next area on the chart, but you must complete one of the two skill checks to exit that square <as a Standard Action>. If you fail, you can't leave that square.
Alternatively, you can use your Standard in normal ways, ranged attacks, cast a spell, etc. . ., but you can only make a melee attack if you are in the same square as the target.
As a Full Round Action, you may attempt to move through three squares, but by doing so, you must complete BOTH checks on the square you are leaving.
>>> If you fail one of the checks, but only by 5 or less, you move only one square and end your turn.
>>> If you fail a check by 5 or more, you can not move at all.
>>> If you fail two checks, you become stuck in the square, losing YOUR NEXT TURN, too.
Each square counts as 30ft, for purposses of distance.
Sound good? Questions?
For the sake of getting started, Davian and Angruf spend their first action getting to the room. Garak, Barrin, and Val rus into th room after the screem, and Leonel can act right after the female, who now in the light appears to be a grubby, Goblin.
She moves to the first square Acrobatics DC 15 or Climb DC 20, and tries the Acrobatics to progress, (throwing her skul to shatter the window and leeping through).
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

Great summary of chases rules DM Beckett. I think I like them. Thank you!
Now I have some Questions: The goblin is now at the manor’s outer wall right? Is she still carrying the skull or she just drops it after using it? After Leonel start chasing (If he decides that) and we reach his room do we continue with the previous initiative or should we roll again?

![]() |

Continue with the previous Init. (I was rolling in advance). :)
At the moment, she is still getting down, so we will have to see in her next action. It is essentually on the ground in the next square.
For those players that specifically mentioned they where from Magnimar/Varisia, add a +1 to your Chase rolls outside the Manor. :)
If the Goblin makes it to the end, the Chase is over. There are a few ways to win.
>>> You may get into the same square as her, she fails to advance, and then you may kill, Grapple, or do some other method to stop her.
>>> If you have a spell or ranged attack, you may try to attack or stop her that way.
>>> If you can get in front of her, getting to a square before she does, you can then ready an action to do an above action.
>>> Finally, if you can make it to the last square either in the same round or before she does, you can see where she "gets away" to.

"She's got a wayfinder, might be a Pathfinder. Try not to kill her."
Val's instincts kick in and he races into action, he sheathes his rapier and launches into action.
Not exactly sure how this will all work but here is my idea, Val is pretty good at this stuff - his approach will be measured but will aim to take advantage bu doubling up whenever he thinks he has an edge.
Not sure where I am relative to her, and might be out of initiatiev order, but if there is any chance or catching her as she exits the window or down below he will try to grapple her.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Grapple: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
So much for being good at anything.

Agruf grabs up his axe, crossbow, and quiver, and charges to the sounds of the fracas. Only in retrospect would he consider that wearing somewhat more than his pajama bottoms might have been beneficial. Boots maybe? At the moment, however quick reaction seems to be more important.
and as a player, i'm about to re-calc a bunch of skills without armor...

![]() |

Essentually, thhis is the 1st round breakdown. Leonel got a Surprize round action (to try to snak up on her) and failed, alerting her. So it went to the top of the Init order, and basically everyone but her and Leone are flat-footed and unaware of a "combat". On her turn, she screams, (making everyone in their rooms or outside his door aware). Her action, she moves, initiating the chase scene. Leonel is next, followed by the top of the Init order.
The <> is your action that round.
Round 1
Leonel (4) <>
Round 2
Davian (21) <moves to Leonel's room to see her jump out window>
Barrin (19) <>
Val (15) <Mves to scale the all and catch the fleeing Goblin>
Garak (10) <>
Angruf (7) <moves to Leonel's room to see her jump out window>
Goblin (5) <>
Leonel (4) <>
Feel free to add in some flavor to your actions. My plan is, at the end of each round, to do a full description of what happens. Also, keep in mind you may not have armor ad shields on, so keep that in mind for checks with your Armor Check Penulty, and adding in some cool ideas based on the square may net you a little bonus.

![]() |

and as a player, i'm about to re-calc a bunch of skills without armor...
What I woud suggest is simply adding the normal Armor Check Penulty. So if you have a total +5 mod for the skill check (with armor) and an Armor Check Penulty of -1, simply type in 1d20+5+1 rather than just recalculating everything. Keep in mind it isn't going to last that long. :) Good luck everyone.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Barrin looks thru the window but he fail to realize any of the creature features however after listening the word "wayfinder" he realize that this is a serious business and try to end it.
Something he learned from the academy live was to sleep prepared because weird things happens at nights on wizards schools. So he reaches for his sleeping robe’s pocket revealing a couple of rose petals and after some intricate hand moves he loudly said:
Sleep! (Will DC: 16; Range: 110 ft)

![]() |

Sleep, very nice. :)
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

![]() |

Ok, so the little Gobliness falls slowly to the ground, overcome with a sudden exhaustion, thus ending the chase. It doesn't take long for people to reach her.

![]() |

Just to be clear, for Chronicle Sheet purposses, the Goblin has not taken any of your gear. For RP, go right ahead though my dear,. . . I mean good sir. :)
Assuming you all do similar things, she has a Wayfinder, a medium sized pearl-like necklace, and a few other tidbits here and there. She obviously went for things that looked impressive as far as cost and rarety over things that actually where.

![]() |

Still standing on the window Barrin yells: If anybody has a way to restraint the creature please do so! The effect won’t last long. After that he walks down the stairs to check the goblin.
Sleep duration: 1 min
Barrin call her a creature without any kind of discrimination intended he simply is too scholar about her.

![]() |

Leonel, not having a shirt, much less any rope with him, is prepared to pin the goblin if she should awaken. readied action
could use some "aid another" for a good dog pile

![]() |

<Timeout!>I tie her up in strands of hair plucked from my beard. She should be honored!</Timeout!>
Angruf makes his way to where the goblin has fallen. Along the way, he grabs a tablecloth (or sideboard runner, or some other large-ish piece of cloth) and carries it with him. Upon reaching the group huddled over the goblin, he proposes, "Let's swaddle her, just as we would with a babe. It's pretty effectively immobilizing." In an aside to Barrin, "Well done, quick thinking."

![]() |

by the time she wakes i'll make sure to have any read able stuff is returned also i want to take a look for a name in the wayfinder or tell some too... and if there is enough time i'll retrieve the skull... also will also ask the goblin what the deal with stealing... you didn't need to that... what's the deal about the skull who did that belong too
... also what gear does she have...

![]() |

Thank you Master Agruf. But I am ashamed to admit that it was more a reaction than thinking!
Now looking at the creature he gets very curious. After all not everyday one get to see a female goblin and as a matter of fact if not for the cloth and the voice it could be a little difficult to realize goblin gender at sight.

![]() |

Seeing no one else acting, Angruf takes the cloth he had snatched up, and cocoons the goblin gently, but very tightly. Looking at Garak, "many thanks for disarming our small friend here."
anyone going to assist or supervise? Angruf's not much with the rope tricks.
@DM Becket - any preferred roll (to establish a DC for her escape artistness)? - oh wait, research into 'escape artist' states baseline is binder's (that's me) CMB+20. For Angruf that's +2+20 => 22

![]() |

It doesn't take long for you to bind the Goblin, which does wake her up. She stirs, sleepily, before bolting up, startled.
"You no hurt Ekkie. No hurt. Ekkie no hurt you in sleep. No hurt Ekkie. Pweeze. Pweeze."
For a moment, she keeps looking at Garak, unsure of something, before realizing she holds the skull. "That mine. You give it back. I needs it", as she reaches out as far as she can to try to get it back, but being bound simply can't. "I didn't steal it, he's mine. Pweeze let me haves id."
Scratched on the inside of the Wayfinder is the name "Joadric".

![]() |

"Here I have some rope that we can use as well" Val pulls some silk rope from his bag and begins to tie up the culprit with Belegorn.
While he does he will search her carefully.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Ninja'd
Turning to the gblin, he hunches over her and makes his most scowling face, "So, what have you done with Joadic, how did you get this?"
Intimidate: 1d20 ⇒ 12

![]() |

She has a potion, the necklace, a nice "Dogslicer", Studded Leather, Backpack, good Thieve's Tools, the Wayfinder, and three day's worth of a rather strangly wrapped meat rations.
The Goblin starts almost talking to herself, saying things like " Don' hurt us. We be good. Not steal no more. Jus' for a moment. The I be good, Promise."

![]() |

ok Ekkie i wouldn't hurt you... the fact you don't want eat us is enough for me not to for that and your kinda cute for a goblin... I'm sure that slicer belongs to her but leonel you can hold on to it for the time being... the thieves tools, the armor, and back pack probably also belong to you... and I'm guessing the skull does too ill place those in the back pack for you...
