Gathering all of your equipement and newfound treasure, (as well as Yarak), you head back to the other room in the hallway. Searching the door as you open it, . . . smelly bedding, moldy food, and rubbish lie scattered about. Aftr searching the new room, you find a very small sewer exit, allowing Goblins a quick escape, though it is unused. No Goblins (minus Ekkie) are in the room, and nothing of any value.
You find nothing else, so heading further into the hideout, you come upon an opening after turning a corner. In it, a large stone channel bisects this dank chamber. Thick masonry pipes clutter the room, feeding into the channel or flowing across the ceiling. A stone walkway without a railing crosses the channel, but crude barbed caltrops litter the length of this bridge. The entire chamber is damp and moldy, and the faint sound of dripping water resonates softly through the area.
On the far side of the room, stand 3 Goblins who seems to have heard something going on and began to build a defense. Two of them wield strange Goblinish weapons, similar to a halbred (reach weapons). Ekkie points out the weapons are called hoursechoppers, and are very deadly. Those two Goblins appear to be warriors, while the third, is dressed in a rather fine and not dirty jester's outfit, and wields a whip.
Goblin 1 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Goblin 2 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Jester 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Angruf 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Barrin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Garak 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Leonel 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Val 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
I'll assume that everyone has out the same weapons as the previous fight, and no surprize round.

Leonel Goldscale |
Leonel advances towards the bridge, but seeing the barbs, decides to remain on this side and throw his dagger.
Advance two spaces, then right one.
Dagger (thrown): 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 2 = 3, Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Barrin |
Round 1:
Barrin still not happy from the previous burns goes for a direct approach and attack directly to where the strangely dressed goblin of the back is and tries to hit all 3 of them with a fireball!
Necklace of fireballs's damage (20 feet radius): 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7; Reflex Save DC 14 for half damage
I am guessing that a nice interrogation will happen after we finish cleaning the dungeon!
Angruf |
"Let's get 'em! Mind the rusty spikes on the bridge - I'm good, but not trichonosis-good." As pedestrian as his utterances, somehow the gruff dwarf's attitude is infectious and inspiring.
Round 1
Status: HP 5/9 | AC 14 | T 10 | FF 14 | CMD 12 | F +1 | R +2 | W +4 | Init +0 | Per +2
Standard: bardic performance (round 4/6 daily) (+1 to hit/+1 damage - next round).

Goblin 1 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Goblin 2 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Jester 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Goblin 2 drops at the fire, though the Jester and Goblin 1 both manage to avoid a portion of it's wrath. Goblin 1 is not looking so good afterwards, though.
Goblin 1 draws and lobs an Alchemist's fire at Garak, hoping to catch a few targets with the splash.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 (miss)
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
misdirect: 1d8 ⇒ 8
It actually lands in Angruf's squar, dealing 1 fire dmage to Angruf, Vall, and Garak, and no one catches fire.
The Jester begins to sing a lude Goblin song, both inspiring his forces and also insulting the "longhshanks". Ekkie, trying to distract him, starts to scream "Shut up. Shut yur mouth!" and throughs an Alchemist's fire his way.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Round 2:
Barrin quickly moves a little forward in order to reach goblin 1 with his next attack.
Hand of the Apprentice Attack (3/7): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8 ; Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
However it seems that in the rush he did not aimed very well! :)

ROUND 2 HP: 2/9 singed
For after Barrin's attack, posting to keep momentum
Val winces briefly at the flames that singe his forearm. But he summons his strength and pulls back on the arrow at the jester.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 = 18w. bardic support
Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7
Barrin |
diid i get to shot? or is it round 2?
Given your original position I would say that you can move and shoot globin 1 with a PBS on round 1. So I would roll and wait for the GM.
For after Barrin's attack, posting to keep momentum
Nija'd :)
DM Beckett |
Garak, yes you can move and shoot. You just didn't roll anything so I was waiting on you. That is your Round one action, and now you also have a round 2 action. :) A bit of a retcon, Garak's shot drops Goblin 1, leaving only the Jester. Val hits the Jester with his arrow, who now looks pretty beat up.
Leonel, then Garak. . .

The Jester Goblin, who later explains that his name is Yersovosh, does indeed surrender, dropping his whip.
"I've prettended to be one of you long enough to know your hear with a purpose. If you let me live, and go free, I'll take you to my master, Inoklar. She is strong, and is eader of the Nightsoil Mauraders. She not far."
Barrin |
Barrin concerned about how cooperative the jester is being now ask: Yersovosh, is Inoklar alone? come over this side so we can talk!
GM: Those were sense motive rolls? I am still learning the rules system so I got curious!
Valanyonnen Arandorian |
Val tries a diplomatic approach.
Diplomacy (untrained): 1d20 ⇒ 3
"Listen, you're not fooling anyone. We didn't some here for you and we're happy to let you go free, make a good decision here, the choice if yours, what is really going on?"
But even Val senses that his approach is coming off akwardly and not genuine.
Leonel Goldscale |
Leonel senses that the others believe the goblin to be lying, and tries to help the situation with a little charm.
"What my shifty friend here is trying to say is that we're much more personable to those who are frank and honest with us."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Angruf |
Knowledge(history): 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 1 + 2 = 21
I'll bet this is an old goblin trick... can the GM remind the player what the trick is?
"That is a trick goblins have been trying to put over on dwarves for thousands of years. We figured it out last week, had a meeting, got the word out. So you can stop trying it now. If you surrender honestly, we honestly won't wring your unwashed, ill-favored, and motley-dressed little neck. Goblins know dwarves - we'll keep our word. And you can see we treat this little one here better than you ever have - we're not wanton killers."
diplomacy(assist): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Angruf carefully weighes the reactions of the motley-clad goblin, looking for some reason to believe the goblin won't force the party to kill him.
sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
DM Beckett |
Seeing that Ekkie is with the party and not tied up or injured, and after hearing the attemts at negotiation and reweighing his chances of survival, he shrugs his shoulders "Ok, ok. I was going to lead you to her and then let her take care of you, but if you let me go, I'll just leave. I am not sure if she is alone or not. She might have a few goblins around. I do know she has set up her throne room with traps and to be a place for a final stand, but no one is allowed into it unless she brings us there, so I'm not sure what all traps or defenses are in place., he says in a rather confident and eloquent speech.
Angruf, the "trick" is to appear weak and pityful and then as soon as an advantage appears to stab you in the back.
DM Beckett |
yes, crossing the bridge is safe once the caltrops are out.
You manage to cross and talk to Yersovosh, and though it makes Ekkie unhappy (and a bit pouty), she doens't act up. As you cross, the smell of the sludge beneath you is absolutely revolting, and likely diseased. Who knows how deep it is. As promised, he walks you down the hall, past a kenel of sorts where the Goblins keep dogs that look more similar to huge rats, all locked up and jeering to get at you in starvation and visciousness. Winding around a few hall ways, Yersovosh says that just up ahead is her throne room, and request-demands to be set free.
UPDATED CURRENT MAP
Assumng you let him go, he does flee back towards the entrance. Also feel free to change up your party order as needed. Not in combat.
Angruf |
"You've been as honorable as I could hope. I'm leaving your hands tied - tight and close so you can't untie them yourself. I'm doing the same with Yarak's hands. But if you work with Yarak once he gets conscious, then you can get each other loose quickly and easily. So yeah - you guys get out of here. You've both got talent - go make an honest living. You could make beautiful fireworks shows together."
"If you are not too angry, or afraid, please come visit me at the Pathfinder society. I promise I will provide food and drink, if you are willing to trade songs and information with me. I can't think of any dwarf bard that has traded lore with a goblin bard in living memory - we will make a mark - a new tale. I promise you will be well received at the Pathfinder Society, and there will be food, drink, and tales."
Before letting them depart, Angruf actively checks both of them for any magical gear. Cast: detect magic
Good as his word, Angruf sets Yersovosh and Yarak's bonds so they can be untied fairly easily but only by each other. Angruf will help Yarak revive to a semi-conscious stagger, and sets Yersovosh (over his grumbles and protests), supporting Yarack, back the way they'd come - hobbling and bound together.
'I wonder if Yarak will make it more than 20 yards out of line of sight before he's murdered. I hope Yersovosh is wiser than that.'
Barrin |
Master Angruf I was hoping to interrogate Yarak about his arts!. However I will honor your good word and will settle with reading his book.
At that moment Barrin smiles and Angruf remembers that he did not surrender Yarak's formula's book. After that Barrin make sure that all his alchemist fire is at hand if needed and waits to follow the groups as soon as they enter the throne's room.
Angruf |
"My apologies Master Barrin. I was taken with the idea of aligning their best interests with morally proper behavior. If they behave well, they will both exit these sewers and be free of bonds within the hour. If they act poorly, one will be dead, and the other bound, for no less than an hour all together. Either way, they should not be complicating our immediate task here. I find the symmetry... aesthetically pleasing."
"And be of good cheer - if their desire to be fed overwhelms their habitual bad behavior, they may well join us at the Pathfinder Lodge, and we may have an opportunity to interview them - have some mutually elected discussion. I don't expect to see them come around, but I live eternally in hope. Ekkie here gives me hope that there are goblins of good heart and loyal action."
Valanyonnen Arandorian |
"I worry with the dogs loose we'll have foes on two sides and be caught in the middle. I'm more inclined for the sneak and shoot approach with Garak. I could get a shot off as well and I might catch her unaware and find a sweet spot for a shot. But I am open with any approach."
Angruf |
"Val - I'm worried about the traps and pitfalls in the throne room. I'm willing to have a few more foes, if the foes are falling prey to traps rather than us."
Angruf backs down the corridor to where the dogs made themselves known. He searches the area for leashes, prods, or poles. Finding some long poles, Angruf looks closely at the dogs, looking for a collar, or harness, or some other means of attaching a pole to the dog.
Valanyonnen Arandorian |
[B]"Fair enough, I'll follow your lead Angruff, your plan has merits."[/]
Val readies his rapier and when they head in will be using a combination of acrobatics and perception to avoid getting caught in a trap.
DM Beckett |
Officially on hold. I have reported and emailed out the chronicle sheets. Check out the Discussion thread for an "ending", and once I get back I will do a full proper ending as well as the remaining Faction Missions. :) I have also sent out 2 Boons. Not that the Boons can only be applied to one character, but DO NOT need to be applied to the character that recieved them, nor do they need to be USED in the time frame, only recieved (which, I just realized I need to backdate). Feel free to scrible out the date and simply put the date they where open, and I'll email out new ones soon.
DM Beckett |
I'm going to assume that no one wants to finish up and go ahead and close this thread.
