Can I have everyone please give me the following info (please post with your character). PLEASE DO NOT POST ANYTHING ELSE HERE UNTIL I HAVE THIS FROM EVERYONE. After that, feel free to chat, discuss, introduce yourselves and your characters, etc. . .
1.) Player Name - Character Name - PFS Number - Faction
2.) Your Downtime, if you have a Day Job Roll, or please state "None"
3.) The top 3 Faction Card Goals you are aiming for.
4.) Any special character notes I should be aware of, (hey I have this Boon, hey I took this Feat which is kind of uncommon, but does this, etc. . .)
Skerdo Cabeza de Vaca |
1. The Norv - Skerdo Cabeza de Vaca - 138781-4 - The Silver Crusade
2. None
3. The "Defeat an evil outsider or undead creature" goal; "Accept the surrender of an enemy combatant" goal; and "Rescue a named NPC..." goal.
4. Nothing that I can think of; about to populate this alias.
Andruss Delsine |
1.) SirPeter - Andruss Delsine - PFS # 113.139-4 - Sovereign Cour
2.) Day Job Roll - Craft (calligraphy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
3.1) Recruit a servant of a named NPC aristocrat, noble, ambassador, or similar figure who is not a member of the Sovereign Court. Doing so requires a successful Diplomacy or Knowledge (local) check with a DC equal to 15 plus your character level.
3.2) Recruit a named NPC aristocrat, noble, ambassador, or similar figure to cooperate with the faction with a successful Diplomacy or Knowledge (nobility) check (DC = 14 + your character level + 3 for each of this goal’s checked boxes).
3.3) Complete a mission (by completing both the primary and secondary success conditions) tied directly to enhancing or preserving the reputation of the Pathfinder Society in the eyes of another nation or organization.
4.) None (I think).
Senach Slane |

@DM At long last I finished the Black Waters scenario and I'll apply its chronicle sheet in this PC, ok? :)
DM Beckett |
Not a problem, assuming you are still in the right level range (1st-5th).
However, at everyone, I am in the military, and I just found out today that I will be going out into the field starting tomorrow night and going all the way to the 22nd, which is actually a few days after the Game Day is scheduled to begin. I apologize. IF I have internet access via my phone, I can start the game on time. But I honestly do not know if I will or not, and I can not make any promises until I actually get out there.
There is also the possibility that I will be back a little earlier. We need to wait and see, and if I am able to, I will certainly keep everyone in the loop. I do know that at least one of those days will be a 24 hour duty day, so even if I can connect with my phone, I will not be able to post.
Again, I apologize in advance, and worst case scenario we will just start a few days late.
DM Beckett |
Okay, so it turns out I did not go, and we are still on schedule to begin on the 19th.
Sometime today I'll go through everyone's info and see who still needs what so that we can be set to go.
I did receive a PM asking if someone could drop out and be replaced, and I'm okay with that as long as that's what both want to do. I'll respond in PM, but just didn't want anyone to be confused.
Dumm |
Replacement here.
1) SodiumTelluride - Dumm - Grand Lodge
2) None
3) If this takes place outside Absalom, that counts as one. Plus:
a. Disrupt or sabotage a significant Aspis Consortium operation, such as by ruining an alliance, damaging its reputation in a large city, or preventing them from recovering an artifact.
b. Defeat one or more members of the Aspis Consortium in an encounter whose Challenge Rating is at least equal to your character level.
c. Save a venture-captain, one of the Pathfinder Society’s three masters, or a similarly high-ranking figure in the Society from harm. The NPC must be at actual risk of death unless you intercede—often denoted by a current hit point total or other conditions—and he must survive the encounter.
4) Nothing interesting or obscure yet (unless you count that he's an Unchained barbarian, meaning he gets temporary hit points instead of more Con and a flat hit/damage bonus instead of more Str). I have some fun plans for this character, but for right now he swings a big sword and speaks broken Common.
Quartz Fizzlebang |

3.) Completing primary and secondary conditions
4.)I like throwing bombs but im not that great at it sometimes... And i can detect magic.
Ven Lorovox the Seeker |
Ok, everyone. I just wanted to take a quick moment to explain how I run combats.
Below is a typical example of the Initiative Roster.
ROUND 1
Quint (), Dumm (), Senach (), Skerdo (), & Anduss ()
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelish Thug 1 (), Chelish Thug 2 (), Chelish Thug 3 (),
Chelish Thug 4 (), Chelish Thug 5 (), & Chelish Thug 6 ()
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Quartz ()
You may notice that everyone has a () near their name. I simply use this to give an indication of any pertinent conditions that might apply, as well as to show any damage that everyone has take over the entire combat. So, later on, the Init might look more like:
ROUND 3
Quint (), Dumm (), Senach (-7), Skerdo (), & Anduss (Ready Attack)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelish Thug 1 (prone), Chelish Thug 2 (-16), Chelish Thug 4 (),
Chelish Thug 5 (asleep), & Chelish Thug 6 ()
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Quartz (charging)
In this case, it means that Senach has taken 7 points of damage, NOT that Senach is at -7 HP and near death.
You might also notice a few conditions or notes in there, like Thug 1 is prone and Quarts charged. It's just to help everyone remember some of the things going on, round by round.
Another thing I do is BOLD everyone that is currently up next. Normally the init isn't as binary as this, but I do roll everything out in the open. So, everyone whose name is bolded can act. It's okay to post out of order, and I will go through and place everyone's actions in order as we go through the round, either making minor alterations or asking you if you want to do something different if something changes between the time you post and your actual turn comes up.
Now, that being said, it does help A LOT, if everyone can offer an alternative action if there is ever any questions, and also to be as descriptive and proactive as possible. It also really helps if, when anyone uses any spells, or even uncommon Feats, if you could make a quick link to it on the PRD or a similar site, and also include things like what Save is involved, what is the DC, and what happens on a success/failure.
For example: Inflict Light Wounds to the Face!!! (Will DC 14 for Half)
If at any time you have a question, please feel free to ask. :)

I moved myself on the map to show that Quartz would be next to J at all times. Chatting away for most of it. And Quartz is totally going to charge someone. The gnome. Alchemist. With his LUCERNE HAMMER! That he has because reasons..

GM Would you mind marking me as inactive for this thread, please?
@DM: I believe that Senach Slane isn't playing this anymore.
Ven Lorovox the Seeker |
Yep, you are absolutely right. Thanks for reminding me before that became an issue.
Grundar |
Sorry to have missed the first combat this is Grundar. I had PMd about joining and by the time the gm had answered i was already in the field.. i to am military and currently in korea so i wont be on same time schedual as everyone. I am just posting here at the moment i dont know if the gm wants me coming in during this fight but i would assume i wait. again sorry for being late guys
Ven Lorovox the Seeker |
First, Ill let others discuss the implications, some of which are pretty politically damning, but if anyone needs info or perspective, let me know.

Like I said, I want the other players to have a chance first. A lot of these are related to either past scenarios or big names, (Factions).

Case D4 Lady Miranda Dacilane is rumored to have committed numerous amorous indiscretions during her youth. The most outrageous was that she was the mistress of Orias Deckland, a scandalous member of Absalom’s upper classes, and bore him a child. She is also rumored to have belonged to a secret society known as the Harbingers of Fate. Rumors come from a drunken but reliable source.
Orias Deckland was an NPC in the background story of PFS #55, The Infernal Vault. Orias caved to Chelish strongarming when they threatened his only daughter to betray Absalom's defenses, which led to his exile from the city. His family manor held a crypt, (the infernal vault). If this is true, it could mean that J. is now the only legitimate heir to that vault. On the other hand, it could also mean that J. is banned from Absalom. When Aroden died, there where other prophecies that where supposed to happen afterwards that have never come to be. It's basically like someone altered time, and everything after the death of Aroden is just a different timeline. Before then prophecy had been accurate. The Harbingers of Fate are a group of exiled Chelish nobility that believe that if they can force one of the prophecies to come true, it will fix the time line, (sort of), and help Aroden to return. They are generally seen as a sort of crazy cult.
Case A1 Badru let slip that his sister is heading to Osirion to participate in a secretive excavation of a tomb from the time of the Pharaoh of Forgotten Plagues.
The tomb of forgotten plagues and Badru appear a few times in PFS, but there's not really enough information here, (or I just don't remember it enough) for this to have much significance.
Case M12 It is well known that the Morilla family runs the Guild of Wonders, Absalom’s most prestigious espionage and assassination organization. What is less well known is that the Aspis Consortium, a Chelish band of fortune-hunters, hired the Guild of Wonders many times to spy on the Pathfinder Society and the Blakros family. I successfully created a diversion for the servant’s attention, and was able make copies of several documents that prove that Lady Annasendra personally oversaw contracts to assassinate members of the Pathfinder Society. If the number of events I am invited to is any indication, they haven’t caught on yet, but I’m afraid to dig deeper in to this situation.
The Pathfinder Society has a pretty close relationship with the Blakros Family who owns a particular museum which is the site of many a scenario. The Guild of Wonders is a semi-secretive organization of assassins, with a particular speciality in that they offer a sort of vengeance insurance. If you think you are about to be targeted, you can pay the Guild of Wonders to exact revenge on your behalf. The Aspis Consortium is the PFS's rival group. In reality, there is little difference, though for the game, they are the bad guys. The key part here is that the Sovereign Court Faction is led by Lady Gloriana Morilla, and so might have both been a spy and a traitor from the start. There is already some partially damning info on her from other scenarios, and se has also tried to back an illegitimate heir, (sort of), to the throne of Taldor.
Information Broker I read in a diary that that an information broker lives in Absalom named Torch. I hear he’s well worth his coin, but is not to be trusted, because he’ll sell information to anyone.
Grandmaster Torch is a sort of hot button topic for PFS. He started off in PFS #1 as an information broker, and there has never been any secret that he has a special hatred for the higher ranks of the Pathfinder Society. I will not spoil it, but he was the founder of the Shadow Lodge, which then split into two separate factions, the original one that wanted to spite the PFS Leadership and the new one that wanted to take things much further and kill the PFS as a whole. GMT then teamed up with the PFS, become the Faction Leader of the Shadow Lodge that was once a playable Faction whose goals where to hold Venture Captains and the Decimvirate responsible for their actions (in getting agents killed so often or just leaving them to die), and also sent out special teams to recover their bodies (after TPKs). In Rivalry's End, the Shadow Lodge stops being a playable Faction, (as did the Lantern Lodge in Way of the Kirin), where GMT outright betrays everyone in a really stupid and unrealistic way that generally pissed off everyone. Even people that hated GMT agree that this scenario was very problematic, for both being very out of character with the NPC, just a terrible, terrible decision for someone that is supposed to be very smart and canny, and also just because the entire scenario is basically a slap in the face of the fans of the Faction. This one is kind of odd, because it's well known that GMT, as an information broker, will sell to anyone, (that's his job), except when the information will have direct consequences against him or be harmful to the general public, and that he takes it as a point of pride that his information is legit.
Case Maldris 8 To my shame I have learned that my own father, Merrin, is a charlatan who used the chaos of the Andoran’s People’s Revolt to change his name from Vanoecker. I later learned that the Vanoeckers were an Andoren noble family with a tyrannical reputation. The worst part was that I discovered that my brother knew about this all along. So much for his glorious, egalitarian ideals and Andoren purity. We’re just as guilty as the rest of them!
The Andoran -> Liberty's Edge Faction leader is Major Colson Maldris. This is suggesting that the Maldris family changed their name to hide their tyrannical history and continue their corrupt form of nobility hiding in the open of Andoran's new ideals of freedom. Ironic that then new party line for the Faction is to seek out and destroy all forms of hidden corruption. . .

Sorry for my vanish, yesterday was holiday here in Brazil, so I traveled with my wife on the weekend and just now I'm back.

No worries. I too had family show up the last few days, and had not been able to post.
What Holiday was it?
Here (in US), we had Columbus Day, which is kind of a weird holiday.

Ok, it looks like I'm still missing both Quint's and Grundar's reporting information, as well as their answer.
Please get this to me as soon as possible.
1.) Player Name - Character Name - PFS Number - Faction
2.) Your Downtime, if you have a Day Job Roll, or please state "None"
3.) The top 3 Faction Card Goals you are aiming for.
4.) Any special character notes I should be aware of, (hey I have this Boon, hey I took this Feat which is kind of uncommon, but does this, etc. . .)

Also please note, "I don't care" or the like is not an answer and will just hold everything up. You must pick something.
Andruss Delsine |
Why all of the secrets anyways?
This is alot of bad information to pass over I feel. Especially the Aspis hiring the group to spy on Pathfinders. Morally Quint would feel obligated to turn them over to the Society and clean up some of the corruption.
Seems that Quint already voted: "Morally Quint would feel obligated to turn them over to the Society and clean up some of the corruption".
Skerdo Cabeza de Vaca |
I forgot about J's family...change my vote to match Quartz and Andruss's.
Andruss: hand over the document on Maldris's family ONLY, give J's family info to her, return the others to Decemvirate
Dumm: hand them over
Grundar:
Quartz:hand over the document on Maldris's family ONLY, give J's family info to her, return the others to Decemvirate
Quint:
Skerdo: hand over the document on Maldris's family ONLY, give J's family info to her, return the others to Decemvirate
Andruss Delsine |
If Quint really don't want to hand over the documents, I think we already have a decision, even if Grundar votes to turn them to the Society, Quartz's opinion have 3 votes.
Andruss Delsine |
Here are the final votes:
Andruss: hand over the document on Maldris's family ONLY, give J's family info to her, return the others to Decemvirate
Dumm: hand them over
Grundar: turn them to the Society
Quartz:hand over the document on Maldris's family ONLY, give J's family info to her, return the others to Decemvirate
Quint: turn them to the Society
Skerdo: hand over the document on Maldris's family ONLY, give J's family info to her, return the others to Decemvirate
1) hand over the document on Maldris's family ONLY, give J's family info to her, return the others to Decemvirate (3 VOTES)
2) turn them to the Society (2 VOTES)
3) hand them over (1 VOTE)

Ok, all. HERE are the Chronicle Sheets. I'm looking into the Reporting part, and turning up blank for some reason. I might need to hold off actually reporting the game until I get back from an appt.
Let me know if there are any issues.
Also, something I like to try to do after a game is open the floor up for discussion, questions, and especially criticisms. I am not looking for a pat on the back, but rather what things you did or did not like about the game.
How did you like the way maps where handled?
How about Init?
Anything and everything. My goal is to find ways to improve for later.
It's not going to hurt my feelings if you think there is a better way to do something. Just let me know and we can see about a solution.
It's not required, but something I'd like. I started out running Play By Post from scratch when I was deployed. I didn't really have a way to learn, so I just sort of started messing with different things and I'm always open to better and simpler methods.
At the same time, I think that there is a lot of little things I do that most DM's do not, (that I have seen), and I'd like to think that that has some influence on how amazing folks like Linda pop in just to say hi. :P
Andruss Delsine |
I have a doubt: did I get the faction goal? If yes, can you record it in my chronicle sheet, please? :P
Ven Lorovox the Seeker |
I'd say yes. I'll see what I can do when I get back.
Game I now reported, (at least on my end). It's in the VO's hands now, and in the past, they usually took 3-4 days.
Dumm |
Thanks for the game, GM! I see the Chronicle, but doesn't it have to be signed and stuff?

Thank you for the game and I have two points about it:
- I really liked the "Initiative Roster". I usually see the GMs posting the damage dealt, but the conditions I rarely see. Sometimes they post the conditions in one turn then forget in the others, and so on. Very good point.
- The second and most important: you know a lot about the game and the history of it, and explained us a lot of things about NPCs that I didn't know, and probably another GM wouldn't do that. Gratz to you to be a dedicated GM no only for the game, but for the players.
Don't consider this a " pat on the back ", it is my real opinion. If I have a chance, i won't think twice in join another game you want to GMing.
Ce ya! ^^
