Sounds like you'll do fine, since Pathfinder is based on the 3rd/3.5 editions, but there's been a lot of expansion since those days. Lots of options, now.
Biggest challenge, as Shabbezz mentioned, is the pace. It's slow. Get ready for that. In one sense, it's an advantage because you can take your time to choose the best option (and make sure you're getting the rules right), but on the other hand, yeah. It takes some patience to see even a simple fight resolved.
I do like how you can describe what you're doing a bit more easily. RP and all that.

Well, I'm almost out of plans on how to deal with this incubus. I could try web to trap him. It provokes no spell resistance, but we're so cramped I'm guaranteed to get most of you in the area of effect. Any ideas?

Do you guys just roll dice and post what you rolled in the green or are there codes to be typed in that can do all that? That would be super fancy if that was the case. Otherwise honor code I'm guessing?
No, rolling dice is accomplished by putting in brackets [ ]#d#[/dice]
Then the system rolls the dice for you.
You can have the system say what type of roll you're doing by putting an equal sign after the first "dice".
This way: [dice=Will save, DC 22]
Then you type in the number of dice to roll between the two brackets. ]1d20+5[
And the last brackets look like this: [/dice]
There is a little tab right at the bottom of the page, marked as " How to format your text". It has all the main codes in there, so is really handy.
So, the code dice=attack]1d20+7[/dice] yields
It is recommended that you preview your rolls so you can make your flavor text line up withthe roll. All rolls are stored in order, so if you roll twice, the d20 results would be in order, even if you went and changed the modifiers. It is on the honor system not to rearrange your rolss based on the dice results, or to preview a roll, and then decide NOT to take an action based on the results.
Also, if you need to add rolls, always do it on the bottom of the list, so you aren't changing the rolls.
So, since I see I rolled a potential crit, I can add the confirmation roll afterwards, like this
dice=confirm]1d20+7[/dice] yields

Jam pulled out an arrow to nock his bow, noticing the Giant lifting up a boulder he sprinted toward a tree for cover, loosing the arrow as he ran.
So, I just noticed that as of last week, this game has been going strong for 5 years (Sept 28, 2012)! That is awesome. I am humbled that you all have stayed with it for so long.

I think it would be fair to say that 5 years is probably largely testament to you as a DM, but then again we have some great characters. Still enjoying it which is awesome.

I just wanted to apologize to all my games, especially the ones I'm running. I have been going through a bit of posting malaise, and don't want to burn out, or even worse quit. As such, I've just been trying to build up to posting. Just wanted to let you all know, I'm not gone, not leaving, just less than motivated at the moment. So, please bear with me. For my games, I expect to have a post up today.
I think we all get there at some point. Take your time and come back when you are ready. I know from experience if you start posting "because it's your duty" that you'll quickly grow to hate it and then you'll be more likely to say "screw it" and just walk away. no one wants that.

I'm terribly sorry. The malaise is a mix of my ability to post at work being more limited than before, and sharing a single computer at home. When I get the chance to post, all the updates I need to make begin to feel daunting. I truly intend to return to my previous level of posting.

I ended up being 2nd in the remaining line after all jurors were seated. I would have happily served, but it was not to be. They went through nearly 90 people to pick 13.

So, if you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, I highly recommend it. This year's strain hit me really hard. Likely because I am immunosuppressed, but still...
On a somewhat related note, I will be travelling all this week, so posting will be in the evenings only.
On a personal note: I've been going through a near-crippling bout of depression recently. It has been all I can do to function at work and at home with the kids. As soon as they are in bed, I shut down. I apologize that that has made my contributions here a little scattered. things are improving and hopefully they'll continue to.

I feel like that from exhaustion let alone adding depression into the mix. You run a great rpg, I think you are entitled to be 'a little scattered' from time to time. Hope you are feeling better.
Agreed, I haven't been doing this for long but the little bit I have been part of so far, having not even got into combat yet, has already changed my perspective on play by post games, I'm really enjoying it so far.
Aww thanks you guys. I really enjoy running games, PbP and RL both. APs are certainly easy enough, given that 90% of the stuff is already in place for me, so it doesn't take a huge investment...for one :)

Apologies for basically being absent last week. I got some hellish flu and have been bed ridden for nearly a week. Better now though, Was so focused on not moving that I forgot to try and hop on here. Should be good to go now though!
FYI, I am heading out of town for a 2-day business trip this afternoon. Then, starting Saturday I will be away from a computer and unable to post until Jan 3.
