Seeing the bandit laying the ambush Modoc crouched to both steady his aim and make himself a smaller target in case another bandit was already leveling a crossbow on him from somewhere nearby. Drawing back hard on his bow he brings the arrow back to the corner of his mouth, kissed the fetching on his shaft and released....

Lathar looks up from stashing his staff and finds the reins in a complete mess around the head of the oxen. bah what a pain!

He grabs the reins just before they become completely wrapped about the heads of the beasts and get drug under foot. hopefully all my foolish thrashing about gives the old man a good distraction.

Not that this was a planned situation but Lathar tries his best to play it off.

Lathar:

As youre finishing up with the reigns you hear a man cry out over where Modoc disappeared to. Even if you remembered his earlier request at just such an occurence; your attention will be drawn to the two men jogging down the hill on your right. One has a crossbow loaded and the other a sword on his right hip and is waving at you. They are about 100' away. Your move.

Male Human Rouge (Survivalist) / Level 2/ Health: 15/15 / AC: 13 / Saves: F/R/W +0/+4/+3

Modoc smiles as he hears the mans cries of agony. Reaching to his quiver he quickly draws forth another arrow, placing it on his string and staying in a low crouch moves as quickly as he can towards the man...(obviously signaling his bandit brethren for the ambush)...Modoc yells out to his companion.

"Ambush!!! Stay put protect the wagon!!!"

Move closer towards the "bandit?" Since I haven't
actually readied my weapon I would like to double move.

Modoc:
It wasnt obvious. You didnt make the Sense Motive check. He could have very well been plucking at a tick or trying to catch a butterfly. Silly I know but possible.

I realize that, but Modoc's reaction was the same as my own. He is so wound up from the fright last night that he's just convinced that these guys are up to no good. Good or bad outcome that was his reaction so right now that's what he believes ...unless he is proven otherwise.

Modoc:
No problem at all. You are, of course free to act however you want. Modoc is right of course just wanted that hint of doubt.

Your friend has it right pal. All we want is your Homestead dead. Pass it over and there will be no trouble. We could always take it from your dead body...

His threat dies off as he draws his blade and clenches his fist. You just see the other man levels his crossbow at you as a burst of llight flashes in your face.
