Hadwyn looks down for a moment, as if composing himself, then looks back up at the blue-skinned lady. "Yes. I do. And..." He pauses for a moment as if choosing his words, then looks at the blind man. "And I believe I may be a white dragon." he says, blushing as he realizes how ridiculous it sounds.

Another short earthquake occurs.
"Oh, if you're here.... who is guarding the key?" He asks.

"The dark dragons have the key... that is the cause of the earthquakes. They killed most, if not all, of my brethren in obtaining it..." He pales, his expression pained, but after a moment, he continues. "Many of them have left the city already. The leaders... they were siblings, I believe. That is all I know."

The man moves over to some incense on a table and lights it. He then seems to fall into a trance and when he comes to again he looks over at all of you. "You must go now, I saw that you will get good results if you take the sewers to the shrine. I'm afraid that this may not be the case if you wait to long. You can trust each other as your task is the same, to prevent the domination of the dark dragon race. Together you should be able to recover the earth key." The man then moves over to a table and picks up an ornate wand. "Take this, you will need it. It has the power to heal your wounds.

Hadwyn turns to face the others. "If we are to travel together, then introductions are in order. I am Hadwyn, an acolyte of the Sect of the Seven. I have been trained to wield my staff and cast my magics at the same time. I understand theory and applications of magic, I've some knowledge of the various planes of existence, and I know a bit about speaking and deciphering languages. However I can aid you, I will."

"The sewers? Really? Ugh." Elise crinkles her nose at the thought.
"Well, I guess we can do it, for the greater good. And thank you for the gift! Also, welcome, Hadwyn. Sorry for not trusting you before--these are dangerous times. But if you're a Light Dragon, then you've found the right allies. Let's find the sewers, and make our approach."

Hadwyn Marlenn |

Hadwyn smiles at Elise. "It is of no concern. Let us be on our way. The sooner we put a stop to this, the better." He turns to the seer. "Thank you, sir, for pointing me in what feels like the right direction. Please, stay safe."

Tazo Stalgrero |

Tazo listens carefully to the conversation between there old man and Hadwyn, "If the dark dragons have the key, then we should move quickly."
Tazo turns back to the old man, "Thank you again for your hospitality. I hope we meet again under better circumstances."
Tazo will take the wand unless someone else can use it.

Hadwyn can use it through UMD as a backup, if needed, but it should live with you, yeah.
Hadwyn looks down for a moment. "Most of my order are gone now. I don't have anything left apart from what I carry. So I am ready to go whenever you are."

Elise starts sneaking through the sewers, wary of what creatures might live in these depths.

Your party starts to sneak around the town. Unfortunately, you were spotted just before you reached a sewer entrance. A single human guard dressed in gear that could only suggest he's with the dark dragons asks for you to "Halt! Who goes there?"
I added a slide to show you kinda what Nanai looks like but we aren't exactly playing by this map, but I thought it might give you a feel for the situation.

"Come on, let's see who this stranger wandering at night is!" she says, playing along with Tazo's game.

"Show us... show me the punishment? You will do precisely two things: turn around and go back to your business, and pray that I choose to forget this. Push me further, and... well, I hope your affairs are in order."

Hadwyn hisses at the sting from the arrow. He steps forward and drops his weight, bending his knees and swinging low to high with his staff, but the pain flares as he moves and he swings wide.

Figuring that stealth was basically dead at this point, and that if they were going to fight they may as well be able to see, Lucas draws his dagger and casts Light on it to illuminate the area.

Color Spray, Will vs. DC 14 to negate. 15 feet in front of them, in a cone-shaped burst.
3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.
5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round.

Elise immediately conjures slippery ice between the party and the rats, hoping to slow them down.
Using Slick ability--effectively a DC15 Grease spell at the target location. Lasts 1 round -- Elise can decide next round whether to spend burn so that it lasts 1 minute instead.

I would like to see what happens with Hadwyn's spell before acting. If it doesn't work, I'd recommend everyone do a fighting retreat.

Or rather, she fires it straight into the ceiling as she tries to avoid harming her allies.
I think you guys can just walk through the stunned rats to surround and kill them.

Tazo will move through to the other side and throw an alchemist's fire at the corner closest to him.
If the swarm is large enough for weapon damage, Tazo will just move, draw his mace, and hit the swarm for 3 rounds.
