I still have a move action in round 8. We all retreating or what?
I believe we should all keep together and keep firing until Truk gets back to us, we don't want anyone left behind again considering the hazardous ground slows us. We can rally, but if we retreat we should get everyone we can.
You do need to stand up as well since you are on the ground. I don't know what John is planning, perhaps a Know-Planes to figure out weakneses? Plus he can still provide very good mobile cover since he can fly and use his tower shield.

Knowledge planes for the eryine: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Knowledge planes on the Nyxervex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
"With the cloud gone, we could make it into the building through the front door, or we can retreat. Either way we are going to need to get out away from the devil."
John will keep the shield up.
Andrea1 |
Andrea crouches behind the shield.
That Erynies is the problem, she can pick us off if we run around out in the open, we need to down her with spells and arrows and then you and Truk can combine your blows against the large devil while we move to the front door.
If we can understand what harms them most, silver, magic or something else we can use that to inflict real harm.
baldwin the merciful |
John and others, you need to remember that Truk is the only living character to have seen Nyxervex, as far you all know it's only an erinyes taunting you from above. I'll use your previous roll regarding Nyxervex when you actually see it.

Telepathically you hear a velvety voice in your head, the voice has an edge of wickedness to it. "Lady Andrea, I presume? Your deeds are becoming well known to all interested parties. Do you desire safe passage for you, and your remaining members, away from this place? If so, a bargain can be had. If not, all shall perish today."
Lucrezia Villanova |
attack 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 15 - 2 = 26
damage 1d8 + 12 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 12 - 1 = 16
1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 - 2 = 23
damage 1d8 + 12 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 12 - 1 = 18
Lucrezia will hold her ground her ground for now and fire off a couple more silver arrows at the erinyes, trying to provide cover fire for Truk as he makes his way back the the group.
Lucrezia Villanova |
also forgot to try a know planes roll on the eriyes since i have that skill now.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Lucrezia Villanova |
Oh, in that cast, if my attack does become needed, I will not bother with using silver arrows then. I will also curse out loud about having wasted the previous silver arrows on the creature. :)

I'm the winged archer peppering your group with flaming arrows my darling. That fat sloth of a mayor has, and we believe your group now possesses, the contract that we seek. Long pause. Simply release Liebdaga from his servitude contract and hand the contract over to me and each one of your remaining members can walk out of here unmolested. Once we obtain the contract, we will locate the remains of your lost companion, if there are any. In the process I will personally exact a most painful sentence upon that Council of Thieves spellcaster agent, and leave both remains at the barricade you entered through in three days time.
That is a bargain worth living for, is it not?" There is wicked laughter in your mind, Then again, we can address this negotiation again after my next spell, you many be more agreeable to lesser terms then.

Just doing this in a few posts.
Andrea’s mind was filled with the Erynie’s words; give up the contract and live, refuse and die. She looked up and saw the devil soaring above the battlefield with flaming bow, ready to rain down fire if she refused.
Andrea saw in the distance Truk, bloody and raging as he ran towards them with a burned body over his shoulder.
She saw John, hefting up his tower shield, to drop it would mean they would be open to a finishing volley of arrows.
She saw Lucrezia, bloody and pale, trying to track the Erynies as it dived around.
Behind her was Orsin, two steps from death, having exhausted his voice summoning the creature that hissed on the rooftop. He summoned it with a power that he sold his soul for..
After what happened to me in Delvehaven, with the deafness, I mean...well, I think it's got me thinking. There are things that I have done-that I had to do-which I'm not proud of. I intended to keep them from you and the others, but I'm realizing that it's only fair to everyone that you know what kind of monster you all are working with..."
He clears his throat a little before continuing, "I've grown weary of the stage, of being a spectacle for the amusement of others with only pretend victories and adventures to my credit. When we came across the Librum Malfactum, I foolishly gambled my life away for the thrill of power and to slake my dark curiosities."
He pauses for a moment.
"I lost that gamble and the tome's dark magic robbed me of sight, speech, and sound. I was moments away from taking my own life when I was visited by an infernal agent: an emissary of the devil Geryon. In exchange for my soul, my senses were restored and I retained the knowledge of the Librum's dark powers. Furthermore, some day in the future, before he comes to claim my soul, the devil may also ask of me a single task which I am oathbound to complete."
The bard chuckles a little manically, "I thought I would take this to my grave, but when I lost my hearing in Delvehaven, I was reminded of my foolish bargain and what it was that I damned myself for. I'm not sure if I got the better half, but I did what I had to do to keep up the fight for Westcrown. My best friend died on the stage for the pleasure of some sick noble. His death wasmeaningless and I didn't want to follow him to that same end."
He pauses before finishing.
"I'm sorry."
Just make a deal

Pt.2
The snearing face of Szasmir appeared before her.Ilnerik came back to Cheliax to provide a service to Westcrown, when he was called to do so - he and his shadow beasts would guard the night, and those that remained inside would be safe. Those that were unfortunate to be outside are dealt horrible fates. Sort of ironic that he was called back to Westcrown, where he once left in a fit of jealous anger." He yawns widely.
Just make a deal, stay inside and you will be okay. Why should you bother going out at night anyway?
The battered face of the Mayor appeared before her. I just wanted hot water and powered lights. How about I write you an IOU for the Exchange? Just look away for a second.
Just look away. Just ignore what was ignored, the flaming fireplaces and bleeding walls. Things will be okay if someone else fixes the problem. Not my problem.
The smirking face of the Erynies was next. That is a bargain worth living for, is it not?" There is wicked laughter in your mind, Then again, we can address this negotiation again after my next spell, you many be more agreeable to lesser terms then.
Just hand it over and walk away. Three days! Then you can have the remains of your friends and a little revenge.
Suddenly to Andrea, the world went quiet and her hands ached, a trickle of blood dripping out and over the Morrowfall, which flickered.
More coming

She saw John, holding his tower shield high. Hellknight he is but he fought with them from the start, keeping anything from getting past his shields. He wasn’t giving up.
She saw Lucrezia, her arrows nocked and ready, steady hands and eye already having foudn their mark. She wasn’t giving up.
Orsin, even almost dead, he was with them, his magic creature tracking the Erynies, lips ready to utter another blast of magic againstt he devil. He wasn’t giving up.
Andrea’s hands cracked again, sending a rivulet across the golden eagle which pulsed..
She then saw the Erynies. She saw the burns of magic across it’s skin, the arrows from Lucrezia sticking out of it’s body and even the kiss of the Morrowfall’s light.
She was the one giving up..bargining..
Andrea’s mind began to clear, confusion being replaced by a single idea, forming into a single word. She formed them from her memories she held most dear.
Duncan. The often angry man who gave her a chance and friendship that became real. Almost a father..
S..
The Children of Westcrown. Who accepted her, fought with her and sacrificed so much for their love of Westcrown even though they disagreed on many things.

Kenji, Orsin, John, Lucreiza, Sunny, Shadow, Faelyn, and Grimm. What more could be said? Friends, comrades and even lovers.

Nugh...The Erynies said it will stop the attack if we release the pit fiend's servitude contract and hand the contract over to them. They will let us walk free unmolested and will then hunt down the Council of Thieves spellcaster and leave the remains of the caster and..Grimm? Leaving them at the barricades in three days.
Tell each of them this! Will Liebdaga vent his wrath on Westcrown and turn it into a flaming pit?
Truk'tosh |
"Releasing a pit fiend? Isn't that bad", Were-Truk asks in a canine growl.
Lucrezia Villanova |
"We are fighting to end servitude of every enslaved person in Westcrown, why make an exception and say it's ok to keep the fiend enslaved? If the erinyes wants to hunt down that damn caster, more power to her."
I always thought we were going to free the pit fiend anyway and dismiss it back to its home plane anyway?
John Deos |
"The contract was broken so the devil really should have already had been released. I doubt it could do much right now since it is most likely weakened. Plus we are in no condition to fight two devils and a wizard."
Maurice Greenhelm, NPC, Dottari |
The dottari guards have a look of astonishment when the battle wary heroes make it to the barricade. There eyes on the charred remains of a body, "Weren't there seven of you? the nervous lieutenant inquires.
As the question is asked Sergeant Maurice Greenhelm arrives with two additional squads to reinforce the current blockade. His brown eyes widen as he sees his friends, stoically he barks orders, "Secure the blockade, it's going to be a long night."
