Fear not, though. He is a Vigilante. He's got it. :P

After his horrible failure of an attempt to climb a rope, he decides to not care about looking awesome and starts climbing the wall! Once he gets to the top, the man looks at Silver Warden, and nods. "That seemed harder than expected. Praise the dawn that I made it up." As he finishes talking, the man clad in white and gold garb frees his bow and keeps it at the ready.

Taking your time to climb up, one by one, you finally get up to a portion of the second floor that has been partially collapsed. Ancient magics prevented any living thing from setting foot here, within the actual tower for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years, and after so long, you can't be certain just how secure the floor. Before you sits a pair of closed, wooden doors. One towards the northern wing, and one towards the southern. Both are, however, locked.
Looking through the key hole of the southern door, revels only a dark room. Nothing can be heard from behind it. On the other hand, you sense a strange crackling blue light erupt somewhere from within the northern room, and catch the foul smell of what seems to be sizzled hair.
new map is up. I forgot, was it this game someone was asking about swapping to Google Sheets?

The Shadow is easily able to crack the lock on the southern door, revealing a large empty room. This octagonal room is covered in a fine layer of dust. It’s clearly been abandoned for a long time. On the far side, you do see another door leading to the west wing.

Random Target: 1d7 ⇒ 1
Moving into the dark room, suddenly Giacomo Casanova steps on a tile the slightly sinks into the ground. There is a hardly audible click, and suddenly a set of javelins launches from a far wall. Most of them miss, having broken and worn away after so long, but a pair of them fly true, one catching him in the leg and the other she shoulder.
Trap vs Giacomo (FF AC 15): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 <HIT>
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The rest of the room is pretty barren, though it's clear from the thick layer of dust that no one has been here for a long, long time. The far door in not locked, and opens with relative ease, revealing another dark room with roughly the same shape. Clearly it was once the armory.
Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. A horrible stench fills the room as well, akin to the smell of rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer.
A pair of strange amphibious creatures lurks within the room, acting as some sort of guards, and instantly become aggressive when you open the door. These humanoid’s scaly hide is dull gray. Its frame resembles that of a cave lizard, with a long tail and crests on its head and back. Each has a brutally primitive club in hand, though by the looks of it, could just as easily use tooth and claw to fight.

The crossbow bolt hits home, drawing a strange, reptilian blood that seems to ooze rather than spurt, but the magical ray goes wild and simply strikes the wall.
Seeing they are outnumbered, each of the primitive creatures draws and then throws a javelin into the party, but noth fail to hit anything.

A small note. I mistakenly labeled them as Lizardfolk. This is wrong. They are actually Troglodytes. I have been using the correct stats on my end, I just accidentally wrote the wrong thing in, likely because I am using actual Lizardfolk in another game.
Also, still need 2 saves from Union's Blade and Silver Warden here. I should also point out that for most of you, it is not possible to target #2 from where you are. He is blocked due to the door and wall unless you move inside the room.

So, one of my big concerns about the Vigilante, or rather more specifically the Avenger and the Zealot is that lack of Fort Saves seems pretty detrimental. Everyone except the Wasp has failed and it's only a DC 13, not to mention that this in an Intro Scenario, so a bit on the easier side. I can see the Stalker needing/wanting good Refl, and the Warlock, Will, but honestly, I do not get the mentality for not giving the Avenger or the Zealot Fort here. Even if that means all good saves. Heck, they probably need them. Just food for thought if you make any comments for the playtest.
Orlesk Hrathsyn
|
While not good, I am also working with a base CON score, so I expect it. While they may not have the best of saves, I believe the Zealot would most likely be a simple priest pushed too far by injustices, but he lacks the proper training to be competent in battle, in the beginning. I see them more as holding scrolls and magical items to the point that it's silly after 3rd level.

The Union's blade moves into the room, quickly dispatching his target in a single swell swoop while both Red Rook and the Silver Warden try at the other. Both bring their best effort, but it simply isn't enough to get past the creature's thick hide.
Suddenly the far door crashes open, falling off it's frame to land hard on the ground. Only the shadow of the mighty dragon-like creature responsible can be seen, as you hear a booming voice shout in anger at you. . . "Who dares to attack my slaves!!!"
You feel the very air around you, change, literally like the short calm before a massive lightning storm, and though you can not see what is causing it, you can see small flickers of energy and the small snaps of it's crackle as pure electrical energy come off of whatever it is just beyond that door.

From the next room, the enormous threatening shadow silhouette begins to move forward, revealing, very anti-climactically, that it's shadow is hardly to scale. It is, in fact, just a tiny little lizard beast, no larger than a smaller dog.
