The tower stands 80 feet tall and it's exterior walls are amazingly smooth. DC 25 Climb Check
You can climb the crumbling east wall to reach the second, third, and even fourth floors which are all exposed. DC 15 Climb Check
There are two doorways on the ground floor that can be explored.

Mornar val Ygriss |

This is such a bad idea, Mornar thought, drawing in a long breath as he stepped towards the gaping opening in the tower wall. During his time in the Winter Wood he might have taken a risk like this, but only with his trusted brothers and sisters at his back. All trained and ready for danger. A couple of these northern nobles seemed like they might be capable, but certainly not all of them.
"Might as well start at the bottom, mayhap there's a stairwell on the inside," he said to the others, watching wearily both for his own footing and for whatever might be lingering. Ruins like these tended to attract vermin large and small.
Move onto the rubble pile heading into the tower.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Godric Alden |

Godric moves in with him, sword drawn.
”Agreed. Start at the bottom, work our way up. Be wary, ruins are not always abandoned.”
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Kol-Relden |

"Yes, a stairwell would be quite preferable to having to clamber up this broken tower. I doubt that Nippy would be able to climb up to any of the other floors using the rubble, and I personally would prefer to not have to risk falling back down." After saying this, Kol-Relden will follow the others towards the doors, whistling for Nippy to follow. Drawing his scimitar, he will continue "So, which door shall we make use of? Left or right?"
Used the Heel Trick on Nippy.

GM Explicit |

Upon closer inspection the door to the south is filled with rubble and almost to the ceiling of the room. The door to the north seems to have escaped the worst of the effects of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor. Everything is covered in thick layer of stone dust. Thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hand down the walls like gossamer tapestries. A single archway stands open in the southwest wall.
As Mornar looks around the room he spots a sublte movement in the back of the room near the ceiling. A giant spider hangs upside down and launchs a glob of sticky web at him.
Web: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Mornar init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Kol-Relden init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Lai init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Godric init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Raikdar init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Spider init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
The glob lands short of its target.
Mornar can act before the spider gets off another shot. All of the terrain is difficult inside and outside the room.

Mornar val Ygriss |

Mornar glances down at the wad of webbing that landed on the floor, then hefted his spear again. "Please don't be another, bigger spider somewhere above me."
Stooping low, he rushed to the right around the circumference of the room, scrambling over the piles of rubble and keep a wary eye out for another splat of webbing, or even worse another spider.
Move: 10ft to the right around the wall
Standard: Double Move another 10ft, Fighting Defensively (-4atk,+2AC)
Swift: None

Raikdar Silvershrike |

Looks like Raikdar goes first after the spider. I'll post my action now so folks don't have to wait for me.
Raikdar follows Mornar into the room, except he zags left. Raising his bow, he draws the arrow back to his cheek, then lets fly.
Comp long bow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
I suspect a miss, but, Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
If the spider moves to block the door, Raikdar would stand and loose from where he stands.

Godric Alden |

I suggest having us go in block initiative. Makes it much faster. Otherwise I’ll wait for my turn.

GM Explicit |

The spider lets another glob of webbing fly at Mornar but can't hit the target.
Sticky Stuff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
The spider keeps it's distance by moving along the ceiling
Raikdar spots the creature and it moves thru his field of vision and lets loose an arrow but also fails to hit his target.
We are doing blocks. Everyone one else can now act. Remember this is all rough terran. The spider is moving across the ceiling to so he can avoid it.

Kol-Relden |

"I hate giant vermin." Seeing the spider launch a glob of something at Morgnar, will rush in to the room. Noting that Raikdar is shooting at the beast with his bow, he will attempt to stay out of his line of fire.
Double-moving, total of 60 feet. He will move 1 square up, then 3 diagonal moves up-left (55 feet movement total), ending 2 squares diagonally down-left of Morgnar.

Nippy the Crocodile |

Following Kol-Relden, Nippy will able their way towards the door, only getting up to the entrance to the room.
Double-moving, total of 40 feet. Nippy will move 1 square up, then 2 diagonally up-left, ending just outside the doorway.

Godric Alden |

Without a solid ranged option, Godric squared off against the spider, preparing himself for if it attacked.
Move in front of party, ready action to attack
Ready Action Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Potential Damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 = 14

GM Explicit |

Lai you are going to have to get closer to get a shot at the spider through the doorway since it is up on the ceiling.
Mornar can act before the spider gets off another shot. All of the terrain is difficult inside and outside the room.
Difficult Terrain: Difficult terrain, such as heavy undergrowth, broken ground, or steep stairs, hampers movement. Each square of difficult terrain counts as 2 squares of movement. Each diagonal move into a difficult terrain square counts as 3 squares. You can't run or charge across difficult terrain.
Lai, Kol-Relden, Nippy, and Godric please revise accordingly.

Godric Alden |

Rather than moving 20ft forward, Godric moves 10ft forward and readies his attack.

Kol-Relden |

I had already taken that into account on my movements. Both character double-moved, with Kol-Relden using 55 of his 60 feet available (11 out of 12 squares), and Nippy used all of their movement (8 out of 8 squares)

GM Explicit |

You are correct. I think I have everyone in the right spaces now.

Mornar val Ygriss |

Regretting his decision earlier in the week to allow his steward carry his quiver of arrows, Mornar grimaced and continued circling the room, edging closer to the spider to at least try and keep it hedged in for the others to shoot down.
I forgot to buy arrows -.-
Move: 10ft around the wall
Standard: Double move another 10ft. Should land me in the NW corner.
Still Fighting Defensively, Current AC is: 22
Swift: Regret.

GM Explicit |

The group stumble over the rubble strewn terrain to get a better angle on the spider. Lai moves into the room and is able to get a shot off that pierces the body of the beast.
It shots another web at Lai before retreating toward the arched doorway to the west.
Web: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Party is up.
Godric I could not get you into the room since every spot you could have gotten to was already taken by someone with a higher initiative.

Kol-Relden |

Moving up towards the spider, Kol-Relden will attempt to cut at it with his scimitar. First, however, he will see if he can better identify the beast.
Know. Nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Move Action: Move 2 squares to the left. Standard Action: Attack the spider. Free Action: Knowledge check.

Nippy the Crocodile |

Continuing to follow Kol-Relden, Nippy will amble into the room, edging towards the wall when they see the giant spider.
Double-moving, total of 40 feet, ending one square diagonally down-right of Kol-Relden.

GM Explicit |

These are also known as BFM spiders that shot webs and are poisonous. Bestiary page 258

GM Explicit |

I gave everyone view only on the map. You tell me where you are going and I will move your icon.

Godric Alden |

Could the map have grid numbers? Such as A B C D E F across top and 1 2 3 4 5 across side? That way we could say "Godric moves to E4." Lets you move them, while we can give much more clear movement.

GM Explicit |

If I was more computer literate we might be able to have grid numbers but alas I can't figure out how to do it. Please just tell me where you want to move (west side of the spider) or give directions (move two north and one diagonal northwest)
I have let players have control of the map before and it just gets out of control. I am looking into using Roll 20 in the future.

Mornar val Ygriss |

Mornar continues his scrambling circle around the rubble filled room, cursing under his breath and closing with the large spider. At least it's only one, he thinks to himself, then immediately knocks on the wooden haft of his spear.
Move: 10ft along wall
Standard: Still fighting defensively, double move to close with the spider on it's North side
Swift: Disgruntled Swearing to no effect
I was under the impression 15ft up meant it couldn't be hit even with a reach weapon, but that might be me doing Pathfinder positioning wrong. Am I able to stab the spider or no?

GM Explicit |

The spider swings down and attempts to bite Kol-Relden
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Kol-Relden |

Having crouched down to avoid the swinging spider's bite, Kol-Relden will thrust up with his scimitar, aiming for the center of it's body mass.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Raikdar Silvershrike |

Raikdar moves to get a clean line of sight at the spider, then looses an arrow at the spider.
Composite longbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
crit confirmation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Critical dmg: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10 (If applicable)
Raikdar moves 2 squares to the left, then shoots.

GM Explicit |

Kol-Relden's thrust pierces the beast just as Raikdar's arrow crosses through it from the side.
It falls to the ground dead.

Kol-Relden |

Pulling forth a scrap of cloth from his bag, Kol-Relden will begin wiping the spider's blood off the blade of his scimitar. Turning to the rest of his compatriots, he will say "The world is better off now that there is one less of these vile creatures in it. If we did not have to potentially travel higher into this tower, I would suggest that we burn these webs, to ensure that there are no eggs that could hatch." Finishing wiping down his blade, he will put the rag away carefully, before continuing.
"Now, judging from the fact that the spider has apparently remained here for at least a small time, it must have had at least a somewhat steady food source coming through this room. This implies that the tower above is either filled with more animals and beasts, or that it is not as abandoned as it seems. I recommend that we continue, as the sounds of this scuffle could have been heard by denizens deeper into the tower. I doubt that this creature had any treasure, but if you wish to search the room, let us be quick about it." Finished with his statement, he will concentrate for a moment before saying a few words in a tongue none of the others understand, and his scimitar will begin to glow with a steady blue light.
Cast light on his scimitar.

Raikdar Silvershrike |

"You never know what you might find." Raikdar gives the room a quick tour. He especially hunts in the area his missed bowshot would have gone. "I'd like my arrow back if it's not broken."
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Arrow retrieval: 1d100 ⇒ 46 High is good. Normal arrow recovery % is 50/50.

GM Explicit |

Searching the rest of the ground floor you find that there is indeed a central staircase but at this level it is filled with rubble that only allows the door to open a couple of inches.
see map

Raikdar Silvershrike |

"Naturally." Raikdar grumbles. "So it's either we pick this rubble away from the door, or climb up the outside."
Raikdar eyes the blockage to the door, trying to assess the amount of work it would take to clear the fallen debris.
Int check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Raikdar Silvershrike |

Raikdar notes the size, and placement of the timbers blocking the door.
"It would take hours, and hours to clear this mess. Plus the right tools."
Raikdar turns and heads back outside. "Any of you cat burglars by chance?"
Raikdar has led an active life, he is not a complete incompetent, when it come to climbing. He thinks about removing his armor; the weight of the chain shirt does make climbing a bit harder.

Godric Alden |

”Not I. Do we have any magic that could help? Because otherwise we are going to have to climb this tower.”
