All but one of Erin's strikes find their mark and one strikes a devastating blow.
Oh and BTW, for those unable to find something useful to do, there is a stele you could play with at the other end of the map. It might even help with this encounter.
Ares' horns are able to penetrate the thick armor-like hide once while Tanrov hammers his target twice.
Ezrek and Tsusoku up.
Ezrek Filosten |
Doh! Ezrek has the Precise Bombs discovery, so Ares won't take splash.
Ezrek unloads three bombs in quick succession at the north golem.
RTA, PBS, Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 1 - 2 = 11

Though Precise doesn't affect misses...
Splash is 9 pts

Keep my full attack damage please. I have jaunt boots . I would have activated them for moving 15 feet as a 5 foot action. I just couldn't see the map at the time and someone said I was in flank.

He frowns as the extracts seem to not take effect.

Tsusuko takes off his amulet and holds it out to the Shoanti. "If he... hits some... with his... horns... it will... help..."
Spell-storing amulet with Vamp Touch in it. Gives temp health, though I can't remember if Amulets are simple enough for an AC to use if it is part of an action it knows how to do...

Tanrov-Speaks-With-Beasts |
I think it’s best if Ares just retire for the rest of the mod. There’s no practical way for us to get him into fighting shape.
Tanrov frowns as the healing potions do nothing to help his friend. The young shoanti taps his armor again, storing his friend safely away for now.
"Let's figure out this stele-thing so we can go home."
DM Amazing Red |
A kingly statue overlooks this chamber from atop a balcony and extends a mighty arm that terminates in a clenched fist. Eight metallic columns, each magnificently carved with dwarven figures, support the forty-foot vaulted ceiling. Gold-plated bannisters run along either side of the stairs, and etched bronze and brass wall tiles depict the tale of Koldukar’s founding. Alongthe upper level sit sixteen ornate thrones, one of which bears the withered remains of a stately male dwarf. His ornate belt however doesn't seem withered or even dusty.
The map will stay the same for the rest of the mod.
Ezrek Filosten |
Ezrek rummages through his extracts and hands another one to Tanrov. (Flase Life) He then produces a bead and recharges another vial with the same extract and drinks it himself.
False Life: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
He then removes a rod and taps it on another flask before drinking it.
Lesser Extend Rod, Barkskin
Tsusoku |
Alternatively, it counts as a club for purposes of being a weapon! But, yeah, the handing it off for long-duration buffs is really what it'll be useable for. I'm honestly surprised they haven't come out with something to use metamagic on extracts, given how blurry that line is already.
Tsusuko fearfully points the butt-end of a wand at Ezrek; "Can you... use this... on... me? When I do... the voices... they come back..."
CLW wand, barring refusal: 6d8 + 6 ⇒ (8, 3, 2, 5, 2, 2) + 6 = 2814 + 28 = 42
DM Amazing Red |
Psst, Tsusoku has the cursed wounds as well. So the wand will not be able to heal you. You will need some healing from Ezrek to have a chance.
An ancient stele stands at the rear of this circular antechamber. The stone monument depicts a heavily stylized map of the Inner Sea Region. The map bears no visible scale, and many of its details have eroded with the passage of time. Seven distinct runes are discernible on the stele’s pockmarked surface.
Only Ezrek can decipher the runes: Dongun Hold, Highhelm, Janderhoff, Koldukar, Kraggodan, and Kravenkus—known locations of both active and ruined Sky Citadels. However, the seventh rune, “Jormurdun,” is the name of a Sky Citadel that has faded from memory over the past several millennia.

Eh, barring fighting another golem or getting Fireball'd by a stele, I'll get get some Temp Health from my 2 Vampiric Touches.

Tsusuko will maybe go insane for the betterment of the group. 20%: 1d100 ⇒ 9 Welcome back to the void, Tsusuko.
Tsusuko casts Detect Magic and Spellcraft's at the belt.
Scraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
If it's the dwarvenkind of belt I think it is, Tsusuko simply put it on and negotiate with the stele, after casting Tongues and announcing himself as Jander, Cleric of Sarenrae, greatest negotiator in the Inner Sea. If it isn't what I think it is, Tsusuko panics a little, looking around and claiming he doesn't know anything about it or what is quite going on.
DM Amazing Red |
It is what you think it is.
Tsusoku gets into the mindset of a dwarf and touches the console. He knows that just by saying the name of the stele you wish to communicate to will let one 'speak' to that stele. In this case you would say Jormurdun
Assuming he does so, the stele activates and you hear a deep gravelly voice.
“I am the stele at Jormurdun. I have endured the passage of time, counting the reign of King Taargick 66 times since I was last moved. I have felt quakes and heard screams of pain. I have seen strange beasts walk within my chamber’s wall. My home is no longer a safe haven."
Ezrek Filosten |
Ezrek translates for the party. "I am the stele at Jormurdun. I have endured the passage of time, counting the reign of King Taargick 66 times since I was last moved. I have felt quakes and heard screams of pain. I have seen strange beasts walk within my chamber’s wall. My home is no longer a safe haven." Noticing for the first time that Tsusoku is wearing the belt, Ezrek frowns. "Er..I guess you already knew that."
Tsusoku |
" Sir Stele, can you describe your location? Can you see anything? We wish to make you safe."
DM Amazing Red |
“Bloody carnage, wanton destruction, meaningless sacrifice, and blasphemous acts fill the halls of Jormurdun! Gone are the days of dwarven
glory. Cries of pain, terror, and despair echo throughout Jormurdun in the place of soothing hammer strokes and the crackling of forge fires. I have suffered the odd chip now and again, and a portion of me lies in a pile of rubble directly underneath me, but I still function. I can tell you I have
not had contact with other steles for what seems to be an eternity, and I worry that ill has befallen Tar Taargadth."
Tsusoku |
"Do not fear, Stele of Jormudun. Sarenrae is both a master the art of stonecraft and slaying any foes. He will bring his mighty fist down upon those who wish to damage your adamant perfection and use their bones to repair your lost bits. How can we find you? Can we re-attune you to the other remaining cities' steles or somehow? I am a powerful conduit of the magics and wish to chorincle the history of you and your people's past, bless Her name."
