Dot!

In the war of the lance book Derek Crownguard has no levels in Knight of the Rise prestige class but is a Lord in the order. He was LN I believe.

During this time the wohs have just reopened Wayreth so the orders are rebuilding. I don't see how an arcanust would fit due to how they work. The test is given in different places and there is a place where a wizard can take the test in the ap.

Im starting to remember more about the setting. In Dragonlance, it seems, character classes are very much an i world thing. Am I right?

What is it about the arcanist that doesn’t fit? I’m just curious, I’d likely pick Wizard anyway but I just worry that needing to take the PrC would somehow gimp a character.

Since they blend aspects of the sorcerer into the wizard it would be seen, RP wise as a use of chaos magic, which the orders are not likely to appreciate and Renegade hunters might come after you, especially a Black Robe.

So sorcerers are still hunted down? Bards and summoners too?

No summ9ners. There are s9me 8nteresring groups that have sorcerers like the academy 9f sorcery, legion of steel and dark knights. Some of the orders especially the white and black are not find if the magic of chaos but red robes are more tolerant, depending 8n the wizard. The orders are not necessarily able to go full out against sorcerers because if numbers but a black robe would have no trouble trying to get them to have an epiphany and join the black robes after taking the test or offing them.

Yes - thank you.

However, I think I'm going to have to bow out - I've a few too many other commitments to take this on. Thanks again.

I read the books 30 years ago, so it's a bit hazy at best! How much homework do you expect players to do, at this point?

I would be interested in playing a white wizard, maybe an elf, but anything goes! I have fond memories of the setting, and the characters :)

Alot if the background kinda gets filled in 8n the ap or if you can find pdf or 8nexpensive age of mortals or campaign setting online. Races of Absalon also has some background info.

Elves are interesting in this time. Quenesti was destroyed by a dragon overlord and silvanesti was taken 9ver by minotaur so they are in a diaspora. What kind 9f elf would you play?

Thanks for your interest

I was thinking a Silvanesti mage... Perhaps a Wood mage who would later wear the White Robe?

Found the Age of Mortals campaign setting online. I'll have a look.

That combo would make sense. Would you go into the prestige class. Levels would stack for wizard school abilities

I would most certainly!

Maybe we can see the beginning of some build with a bit of bavkgroind?

I'll work on it in the next few days. And hunt down the *complete* campaign setting pdf, which seems surprisingly elusive!

You might want to see if you can find races of Absalon and towers if high sorcery.

I found Towers of High Sorcery. I'll look for Races of Absalon...

The towers book is my favorite rpg book ever

Having a look at the material... Fun to rediscover Krynn after so many years!

In light of what I am reading, would it be possible that a Silvanesti elf would have turned to a life of banditry, attacking Minotaur supplies, etc.?

Also, do the setting feats work? Specifically, Spellcasting Prodigy?

Haha I was thinking of the same thing. I’ll go back to my original plan and look at building a Knight. Maybe someone who started off joining the knights of Nerakos, realized they were the bad guys, and now wants to attempt at the Solonia knights.

We could be an all wizard group! Perhaps a bit too squishy at first?

There are the kirath.

Kirath but any elf can join

It might make sense for a kirath to be a wood wizard, there is, in races of ansalon a feat for woodshaper elves.

Were you thinking like an entire party of Kirath scouts. Thematic party sounds fun.

Does Dragonlance still use that sliding alignment scale?

Like in 1st edition? Not officially but I kinda like it

Iirc it gives u a plus 2 to your primary stat for extra spell slots

I am getting excited about this!

If you want to do the Kirath idea, at the risk of sounding schizophrenic I’m think a Kagonesti Druid, Hunter, or Shaman might be fun.

Not sure how a shaman would work in DL. Cant mix arcane and divine magic.

druids and hunters would need a divine patron, habbakuk or chiselv make sense.

Shaman are divine spellcasters, the chassis of the class is just a mix of witch* and oracle. I think they would work the same way as druids on Krynn and need to worship one of the three nature gods.

How many of us are applying? It seems just me and Alias.

*Witch I think would be hardest to fit. I think they would be primal casters, and treated like sorcerers.

Not sure what "Iirc" means...?

In any case, belonging to the Kirath seems perfect!

If I remember correctly [IIRC]

Druids can be pretty free to worship most of the gods, for example, if they are into decay, then Morgion would be a good patron. If they worship Paladine because of the power of the sun, etc.

Not every class fits in every campaign setting.

I thought there was at least one more person interested.

Three others up thread.

I should have googled it!

The benefits of the feat: For the purpose of determining bonus spells and the saving throw DCs of spells you cast, treat your primary spellcasting ability score (Charisma for bards and sorcerers, Wisdom for divine spellcasters, Intelligence for wizards) as 2 points higher than its actual value. If you have more than one spellcasting class, the bonus applies to only one of those classes.

It does seem pretty powerful, but so do many aspects of the campaign setting, as far as I can tell. What do you think?

Should be easy enough to find some good players, if the thread got lost on the board!

Ya this ap can be pretty dangerous

How do you feel about a rhinoceros animal companion?

Are they available at 1st level for a druid/slayer?

Not sure. I do like this image for a Kagnosti Druid or Hunter so will probably go with a large cat. I was asking for parameters, like I’m not a fan of dinosaur companions in a general setting.

Dark Archive

ok. been a fan of dragonlance for almost 30 years ago. i'd try to make submission. thinking of making a fighter. just need to get the flavor right.

I could see them with a car or a wolf.

would he stay fighter or go knight?

Dark Archive

presently i see him as going fighter all the way. but that may change depending on how the game progresses.

my character is tentatively named "Dagon Kira," a young man born in the City of Sanction while it is under the rule of the Knights of Neraka. Dagon found the pervasive influence of the knights suffocating and he vowed to leave Sanction and head for freer lands when he got the chance. He was orphaned early as his parents were killed in a fire. The hard life he experiences on the street has made him tough and capable. So when he could, he immediately joined a caravan as a mercenary guard. He has not returned to Sanction since.

Dagon Kira prefers to fight with a greataxe and fight like he is possessed.

Dagon Kira is a light sleeper since he often has nightmares, visions involving great battles and his death, over and over again.

GM, we're starting at level 1, right? How about stats? 20 pt buy?

1st lol. 25 point 2 traits

There are a few mercenary groups around like the brass tiger company.

LOl, I have been looking at all the errors in my postings. Fat fingers on a phone and auto correct. lol.
