Willow thinks to himself: *sigh* well... A job is a job, as money is money, as the day is the day and the night is the night... As always though, I wish these customers would tell me what it is exactly they require my services... A world Of secrets an strangers is a lonely existence... he stares at Solinas for a moment... well I'll be... I do believe this elf is crying... I do not know if I hve ever seen an elf shed a tear... Let alone in their meditation... Strange... Strange indeed
what do I roll to see how hot your character is algar? ;p
Willow Greystream |
Willow thinks to himself...
nothing like an elf babe! This shall be rather worth my while methinks.
i told meself... "Meself, if there are any girls there I want to do them!"... I also think I lost my ogre slaying knife... Where did that go I wonder...".
the reference... In case someone doesn't get it an is offended
Torald Othric of Griffonstone |
Early in the morning, Torald wakes up and holds his morning prayer.
Thereafter he makes himself a meal from his rations he has left from his former travel. Then he makes his horse ready.
Willow Greystream |
As the group awakes, Willow will nod and introduce himself as their guide, and will apologize for any sort of inconvenience last night.
Bruhma... where are we headed today? Shall we make hast? What would you have me do?
Bruhma |
Bruhma is up with all of you, having been roused by Willow. He eats his food and then steps away from the group for a few minutes.
When he comes back, he says simply.
Apparently our enemy is more dogged hampering me. I feel i must place this quest within your hands. This group is more than capable of achieving this quest, but it will be difficult. Remember, the fate of Krynn is in your hands
Looking at everyone for a moment, he continues
As i said last night, continue on to xak tsarath for those rods. Then make your way to the Sanction, look for an inkeeper named Greevus. Tell him The dew sparkles softly in the midmorning light. He will retrieve the cause. then, make your way to Kendermore to deny this magical attempt. The enemy cannot come into possession of this book.
leaping up on his horse, he says simply
Good luck, and may the Gods watch over you. If i am able to, i will meet up with you. So long!
With that, he turns his horse and bolts out of the copse of trees, his horse thundering the way you all just rode the night before.
Solinas Astariel |
Seeing that bruham has just left, looks like i am going to have to fill you in on some details. I can't verify if all the following informations are true. But seeing that the was is a Solmanic knight you will, like us, have to take his word for it. So long story short: Evil gods, great Magic are involved, and impeding and ominous doom. So here is the pitch. Certain site, and great magic will open up a giant portal into an other world. In that wolrd live few dragons overlords. Their plan is to bring on the most evil, most powerful of these overlord over to here. Said overlord will tip the scale of power here. lots of death lots of dying etc etc etc.
What we know for sure, and when i mean we, i mean just us the unlucky lot. she says while posing with a pretty damsel in distress face.
Yesterday a rather powerful cleric of Chemosh, you know the guy who feeds on the soul of the recently dead? Was after him she points in the direction Bruhma left.
With just his powers alone he killed about 30-40 people in matters of seconds, us included.
He also killed all the local solamnic knights stationed in solace, and took some of their souls maybe.
He pointing a Thalintal a rather young and brash cleric of Paladine, is going to get framed for it. As we was seen at the scene of the massacre. Good thing that there is another of the solamnic knights guarding and protecting him pointing at Torald
But he will be accused of really being a Knight of Takhisis or one of the 2 other orders. I can't seem to remember them all.
The others, that is us by the way. Will just be hunted by the cleric of chemosh who is after bruhma.
That is were you come in. Because there is hope etc etc.... Not all is lost etc etc etc...
Apparently in the treasure room of an abandon city about a week away from here are some artifact of the long age of Might. Said artifact if used properly by an arcane practitioner
pointing toward the minotaur
And that would be him queue drumroll please.... Can set the 7 artifacts in a proper ritual, magic circle or other shape of immense power So syphon the portal's magic energy when it activates.
Small technical difficulty to figure out once we had artifact is how to make them work as they do not come with instruction manual. Plus unfortunately for me as i had hoped the minotaur was a BladeMaster isn't yet a great wizard seeing he probably hasn't taken the Test since he wears none of the Order's robes.
Portal Collapse, star's alignment passes, energy are wasted and the different evil faction blame each others and start fighting amongst themselves
You, ranger guy will take us to make a clean getaway.
In other news for you, the guy who was paying you has rode of to be bait. Therefore it looks like you are going to do this for free.
Oh and i almost forgot, head of white robe knows about it as the leadership of knights and all the forces of good, but they are already busy, and some, actually the vast majority don't believe in portals to other world
She bow her head and puts her hand to her mouth saying in a very hushed voice.
Frankly i don't believe it either
resuming her normal speech.
But the "good" news is that the cleric of chemosh and his party are surly heading our way just about now. And I'd rather not die to him just yet. And that is a fact, he is really more powerful then we are.
So ranger guy wich way to xak tsarath ?
Willow Greystream |
Hmm... I looks like I have no choice... it must be fate brought me to you. I know these lands well, and can lead you to your destination.
If instead this great evil is scouring towards our ultimate doom... I shall do all I can to assist you. Payment is no matter, obviously important things are at hand, and the tapestry of fate has intertwined us to meet this peril head on
He will stop to examine some maps, and check the area.
Survival Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Follow me... we will find our way through the wilds to Xak Tsarath.
And with that he mounts his gear, grabs his bow, and strides off.
Solinas Astariel |
oh and where are my manners, please willow allow me to introduce you to your new cell mates:
This is Asterius introducing the minotaur Weaver of Arcane magic
Next to him, with his hands up in your pockets introducing the kender is Trappedogger burfoot, Kender of Kendertricks
This tall, strong and courageous fellow is the genuine certified seal of approval Solamnic Knight Torald
Next to him over there we have the Twiced Beloved, Revered Son of True Light Talinthal Cleric of Paladine
And i am just the random innocent damsel in distress, taken hostage by these wanted men Helen, Helen Forestreeves.
she finished with a rather large and charming smile.
Willow Greystream |
Willow raises an eyebrow and glances around at his new company...
well met... I am known as Willow.
dm, perhaps willow knows a thing or two of this city?
knowledge geography: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Willow Greystream |
fair lady, I have been known to bandage a wound or two... Shall we patch you up, or is there a wand perhaps laying about? I know my way around a bit of magic, for my part
heal check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Willow Greystream |
Willow is sometimes groggy in the morning, and after thinking back on the last conversation with Bruhma earlier, he thinks he has somewhat of a better grasp on the situation than he did before, and of course thanks to the elf's explanation.
For the most part, he walks silently ahead of the group, swiftly trying to find them a way to this lost city, and to also avoid thir pursuers.
Asterius Genlon |
Oh, Solinas, just noticed you outed me as a 'Weaver of Arcane Magic'. As far as you know, I don't do any magic since I haven't done any and made no indication that I would be able to do so (or that I'm a Sorcerer as opposed to a Wizard). Though I think it's common knowledge to anyone who knows of minotaurs that they are wary of magic and prefer physical prowess. And him being a Sorcerer as opposed to a Wizard may create difficulties because while they're both 'Arcane' magic, they use very different sources. And I just noticed that we don't have any Wizards. Well, that'll be fun later on.
Asterius has stayed silent for most of the time, thinking things over. In the morning, he watches Bruhma depart and vaguely hears the new ranger say something about payment. The minotaur would have liked the coin for the journey, and often finds himself in need of it, but the mention of the book holds his interest more.
He checks his pockets to see if anything else has been 'misplaced' and, satisfied that nothing of importance was taken, collects a few more rocks before walking alongside the group, making it known that he will follow. "Seen any more birds, Trapdodger?"
Solinas Astariel |
I am taking my cue from the answer Bruhma made when i asked it if we had an arcane spellcaster and his answer was: "looking at Solinas We have a spellcaster here, right Asterius?". Solinas doesn't know what really was told between the two of you but bruhma must have been confident in his answer. Hence the Weaver of Arcane magic, as that qualification encompass: Wizard, Sorcerer, Bard and Alchemist. (ps the post can be found on the previous page)
Asterius Genlon |
Whoops, didn't see that. Bah, I really should have gone over all the posts more thoroughly instead of skimming. Well, Asterius will just shrug and won't confirm it and instead comment that perhaps Bruhma meant that there's another spellcaster in the group. Possibly hinting at Solinas, but Asterius doesn't know that either. Thanks for clarifying though.
Trapdodger Barefoot |
"I can cast spells....Just watch my magic!"
Trapdodger spins in three circles and spins his hoopack over his head eventually slinging a stone into a tree about 30 feet away.
A thunderstone explodes, scaring birds into the sky of all sorts and varieties....
"Which one is the rare one" he asks the minotaur....
Asterius Genlon |
Asterius told nothing of him being a spellcaster to Bruhma. However, it can easily be explained that Bruhma knows of him, from rumors or otherwise. If I recall correctly, Bruhma mentioned being familiar with the pirates of the blood sea (near the minotaur islands) and Asterius has spent a number of years with Saifhum pirates (in my backstory which I should really get around to posting). A lone minotaur is a rare sight, a dehorned one even rarer, so there might be a few rumors going around with the pirates or ships going through the blood sea (Asterius was a pirate). Asterius has cast a number of spells in his time there so it's quite possbile for rumors to exist of a dehorned minotaur that can perform magic. Getting a reliable source of information is much trickier but considering how much effort Bruhma has expended, he probably has that. At least, that's what Asterius is thinking.
Asterius flinches when the thunderstone explodes, not expecting the loud boom. The minotaur slowly applauds the kender, somewhat amazed that he was still able to cause a lot of trouble in such a short amount of time. "Very nice. Now, that Trapfoot has just given away our location to any pursuers so we best be hurrying. Willow, just give us the quickest path."
He looks at the kender. "And it's the bird which isn't a bird," the minotaur says. "That's why they're rare."
Hahaha. I can really see a Kender doing that.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
Willow, your check is high enough that you can inform the group about the exact location of xak tsaroth, and the surrounding land around xak tsaroth is swampy with minimal fresh water reserves. outside of that, you first have to cross the desert that is controlled by the plains people, and then cross into the mountains controlled by the Que-shu tribe. You may be able to trade with them to gain supplies.
willow: your survival check would be the skill used to mask a track. I will apply your stealth roll since you weren't aware of this.
The road in front of you appears to be long and serious. The man who hired you is now gone, a simple request to retrieve a couple of rods and then go to kendermore to plant them in a strange way to prevent the end of the world, or so it would seem.
Each person is lost in their own thoughts as the day progresses, striving to ignore the ache in your feet, the growl of your stomach from the lack luster meal you had earlier, that it almost seems to startle you that you see a spear in the middle of the road.
everyone, give me perception checks, dc 15
Willow Greystream |
ah I see. I was thinking I could use the two checks in conjunction to... Idk I guess I was thinking I could maybe silently cover our tracks :p. anyways, I appreciate it!
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
