Addams Family DM |

A rousing good time beneath deck among food and rum. The deck begins to rock as your vision swims. Your surroundings spin and your legs give out. You fall into darkness before hitting the deck.
Initiative
Noro: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Almare: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Jindariel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Markus: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Addams Family DM |

Jindariel, you are the first begin regaining consciousness, and the process is dramatically hastened by a pinch on your leg. Spinning around, you see what seems to be a giant lobster. Though the back of it's shell curls up at your sudden awakening. Like this it resembles a scorpion, though it moves rather slowly on its thin, stick-like legs. Out of the corner of your eye, you notice a pile of sand covered gear to your side.
You appear to have washed up on a beach, soaked and with sand clinging to your scraped up body. Past the coastline, a jungle of thick leafed trees and tangled undergrowth waits uninvitingly for you. But first, you have to deal with the three amphibious creatures searching among several unconscious bodies.

Addams Family DM |

should we post in initiative order? or any order will do?
Any order should do, just post the round number with your actions. I'll work on editing things together after everyone takes their first turns.
Just to clarify, there are 3 creatures among the unconscious of the group. One is next to Jin, one is next to Almare, and one is next to Noro. The gear is piled up next to Jindariel. 10ft from everyone else. It's a move action to grab something from the pile.

Jindariel |

Does Jindariel recall his spells? If so..
Round 1:
Jin's eyes light up, as he sees the danger and his hands light up with electricity, as he attempts to touch the scorpion moving up his leg!
Shocking grasp touch attack: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
If he does not have his spells, then Jin grabs his rapier from the pile and stabs at the creature with it (apply attack roll).

Brother Markus |

Round 1:
Coughing up seawater violently, Markus crawls to his feet slowly. He takes a quick moment to find his bearings and notices the creatures crawling towards the others.
If Markus remembers his spells...
A determined grimace crawls across Markus' lips as he mutters a prayer, his hand lashing out at the lobster creature closest to him. From his outstretched fingertips, a small orb of acid flies outward towards the creature.
Acid Splash Touch Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
If fired into melee...
Acid Splash Touch Attack Into Melee: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (15) - 4 = 11
Same damage from above.
If he doesn't remember his spells...
Markus growls at himself in anger for being caught unprepared and makes a dash for the pile of weapons.

Noro starts to awaken and the sudden pain from the pincers of the creature. what the hell? she syas at the pain and she kicks out at whatever it is that is grabbing her.
attack-prone, unarmed: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 4 = 13
damage if a hit: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
she then gets herself up (will stand up even if the attack is a miss) attempting to shake off the grogginess.

Addams Family DM |

After seeing the scorpion-lobster monster upon awakening, Jindariel mutters an incantation.
Jin's Spellcraft check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Jindariel mutters an incantation after being bitten by the creature. He rolls to avoid a stinger then unleashes electrical energy into its body, cooking it from the inside out.

Addams Family DM |

AOO against Almare: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Instinctively upon hearing the shouting, Almare shoots up and pinpoints the sound. A man she had seen on the boat a few times was being threatened by a strange monster. Other creatures were scuttling among the shipwrecked passengers.
Almare leans away from a strike by the creature next to her and makes a mad dash for her sword and shield, which were laying by the man who had all ready dispatched one of the creatures.
AOO against Noro: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Damage: 1d2 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Noro shouts in surprise as he awakens to the sight of an amphibious arachnid standing over him. He lashes out with a strong kick, but its thick carapace protects it from any real harm. In return, the stinger on the monster's tail stabs into his shoulder. (Noro takes 1 point of damage and must make a Fortitude save.)
Brother Markus awakens just in time to see a young woman run away from a giant scorpion like creature, orange in color. He lashes out with a burst of acidic magic, but the shot goes wild as the world around him begins to spin, an after effect of whatever had happened last night.

Addams Family DM |

Full Attack by enemy 1 against Noro: 3d20 ⇒ (9, 15, 15) = 39
After standing up, Noro is grabbed by one of the creature's claws and stabbed again by the stinger. Noro takes 1 point of damage from the claw and 1 point from the stinger.
damage: 2d2 - 2 ⇒ (2, 1) - 2 = 1
Noro's Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
attack against Almare: 1d20 ⇒ 5
The creature follows Almare to the pile of gear, unaware of Marcus' attack. She nimbly sidesteps another attack from it's stinger.

Round 2
Noro is none too happy about being bitten and the sting of a weak poison is only more infuriating Lasht I checked, I wash the top of yor food chain. she says as Noro pounds a fist into the head of the crab like thing
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Addams Family DM |

Jindariel grabs his rapier from the pile of washed up gear and prepares to defend himself against the giant lobster that followed the woman over to the gear.
Almare swings her blade at the determined monster.
Almare's attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
She severs its tail as it tries to retract the stinger from the ground. Green blood sprays all over the white sand and it bleeds out before long.
Noro breaks free of the monster's grip and slams her fist into the head of the beast. She breaks through the carapace into the gooey insides. It twitches once before slumping over, obviously deceased.
Markus finally finds his quarterstaff only to realize that all the hostile creatures had all ready been defeated.
With the monsters out of the way, you notice that five other people have washed up on shore with you.
-A half elf woman with a trim figure, short black hair, and tanned skin.
-A blonde, bearded gnome wearing what was once regal clothing.
-A gray haired and foreign human wearing rather ragged armor.
-A dark skinned human with all of his limbs bound in chains and manacles.
-A young, attractive, elven woman with fiery red hair, a missing pinky finger, and a scar of an "N" on her back.
They all appear to be awakening on the beach.

Brother Markus |

There is a moment between Markus grabbing his quarterstaff and looking up where he feels adrenaline coursing through his body. A split second later, it recedes, the battle around him coming to a stand still.
The inquisitor looks around at his fellow survivors and harrumphs in quiet acceptance of his circumstances. Alive. I guess. Works for me.
He looks at the other three who had done most of the fighting. "Everyone alright?"
Noticing the other five survivors, Markus hurriedly looks for his backpack as it contains his healer's kit.
Perception If Needed: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
If he finds it...
Markus digs out the kit and rushes to the other survivors looking to see if any need immediate attention.
If he doesn't...
Markus rushes over to the five awakening survivors and checks with them to make sure they're okay since they were out the longest.

![]() |

Almare sorts out her armour and shield, just to be ready for any more surprises, then she goes over to Markus to see if he requires any assistance. The battle's made her a bit weary, and she's still trying to get her bearings.
sorry about forgetting to roll, not sure how that happened
Also sorry for posting with the wrong char, still getting used to this board

![]() |

Noro pulls her hand form the crustation's gooey remains. giving it a quick flick to remove any crap that is still there.
she looks around to get her bearings, noticing the pile of stuff.
What in the nine hellsh happened? where's the ship?
she eventually goes to find her bag of stuff. there is only one thing she hopes to find. her bottle of Sealord wine.
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Jindariel |

Jin looks around and quickly casts Prestidigitation on himself, cleaning himself from the sand and seaweed, till he is content with his pristine appearance. He then proceeds to methodically grab the rest of his belongings from the pile. He looks to the other warriors. "I am as fine as can be expected. Well met. I am Jindariel, elven scholar, en route to the Mwangi ruins. Last thing I remember I was in the ship imbibing some rum and food. And now I awaken on a beach?! I ask as well, where is the ship?" He looks to the 5 strangers as well for answers, noticing the beauty of the elven female.
Jindariel looks around, trying to find ship or perhaps some historical landmark.
Knowledge (History): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Brother Markus |

After making sure there are no severe injuries, Markus goes to find his crossbow and armor and begins to arm himself in case of further danger.
While affixing the last strap of his pack, the inquisitor turns to the others.
"Judging from our location? At the bottom of the sea."
Tonguing the inside of his cheek in thought, Markus looks around the area.
"Good news is we're not with it."

Addams Family DM |

Almare, after some contemplation on your surroundings, and your last known location, you deduce that the group has been stranded on Smuggler's Shiv. You know the island is located to the north of Eledar and that it isn't recorded on most maps. You also know it is a very popular place for shipwrecks. Aside from that, you know not what is on the island.
You relay this information to Jindariel, but the name doesn't ring a bell for him. The other shipwrecked crew members are all awake and functioning at this point. The elven woman introduces herself as Aerys, the gnome is Gelik, the gray-haired man is Ishirou, the dark-skinned man is Jask, and the red headed woman is Sasha.
Ishirou says nervously, "Smuggler's Shiv? They say that this place is haunted by the hundreds of drowned sailors that died on island. I don't want to join my ranks, but I suppose it's what I deserve."
Gelik says, "Don't be foolish. Those stories are just old wives' tales. There are no such things as ghosts. Anyway, there's an old unfinished lighthouse on the island. If we can make it there, we can get rescued by sending a signal."

Brother Markus |

Markus nods to himself slowly after the gnome finishes speaking.
"The lighthouse is better than nothing. Can't stay here. No fresh water and no food."
His feet shifting in the sand, the inquisitor adjusts the weight of his pack on his shoulder and inhales the salty, sea air deeply. His body felt sore in all the wrong places, but sore was still better than dead.

![]() |

"There has to be water and food around here" Turning to the gnome Almare asks in an interested voice [b]"Any idea where this lighthouse might be? And why it's unfinished? Seems like an interesting tale."[b] The gnome looks like someone who likes to talk, and maybe his talking would calm everyone down a bit.
Almare is trying to make the gnome feel important by paying attention to his words, hoping to make him more amicable, and get more information

![]() |

I am assuming we have had time to get to know wach other. the ship isn't that big. also Noro was part of the crew so I am sure she has been seen around as a bit of a drinker and partier.
Noro gathers her stuff and scans the shoreline trying to see if there is any sign as to where this lighthouse may be (if its even in a spot within view from where they are.
she takes a little swig of the wine she has.
If we are to find thish lighthouse Best to know a direction to travel, or ish it jusht a shot in the dark and we wander the jungle.

Addams Family DM |

Okay, so to the North is the sea where you washed up. Two rocky cliffs force the water into a thin, but long bay. In every other direction lies thick jungle vegetation.
Noro, you notice at the far end of the bay, it appears that a ship is trapped between some rocks.
Gelik says, "Of course I know where the lighthouse is. It's on the other end of the island. And the lighthouse was abandoned because it was originally going to be a colony for Cheliax, but plans fell through because of the dangerous waters and the civil war that divided Cheliax. I could lead us there, but I'm not much of a fighter."
Gelik's attitude is now friendly.

Brother Markus |

Markus eyes the dense jungle ahead warily. His grizzled features settling into a frown.
"Well, best to get going. The four of us should be able to protect the group well enough. Don't want to lose daylight.

![]() |

Noro points toward the wreck.
over there, a ship or posshibly a wreck. could be the Jenvere, I for one would like to know what hash happened.

Brother Markus |

I think I'm missing something. Free what friend?
Markus follows Noro's finger as she points to the wreck.
"Well... damn my curiosity."
The inquisitor looks at Noro with appreciation and immediately starts to walk towards the wreck hoping the others follow.
"You've got my interest. Still, best to be quick."

Addams Family DM |

It seems the only ways to get to the wreck is to swim the distance in the turbulent waves, or climb across the face of the cliff. The distance is 150ft either way. Whoever wants to try can make the checks until they get over.
Swim checks
DC 20 to swim 15ft.
Failure forces a DC 15 Reflex save to avoid 1d4 points of damage from the pounding surf and rocks below the water.
Climb checks
DC 15 to climb 15ft.
Failure of 5 or more causes a fall into the water.

![]() |

Noro will head the land route to climb to the wreck. anyone elshe gonna come along?
climb check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
climb check 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
I believe that 15 feet is two climb checks without accelerated climb.

Addams Family DM |

Noro will head the land route to climb to the wreck. anyone elshe gonna come along?
[dice=climb check]1d20+8
[dice=climb check 2]1d20+8I believe that 15 feet is two climb checks without accelerated climb.
It is. I thought it was half and full, not quarter and half. Also, you need to go 150ft.
Doesn't really matter for you though. You can get across by taking 10 on all the checks.

![]() |

Almare, not being a very good swimmer or climber, overlooks the situation, then removes her armour, takes the climber's kit from her mule, and starts climbing down.
climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
She manages the first 15 foot without trouble, but stumbles on the next bit. "I might need some help with this"
no the rules of the ap say 15 ft per check, do we do 2 checks per turn, or just roll the whole bit at once?

Brother Markus |

Wow, it took me far too long to realize how the cliffs were probably related to where Markus was standing. Third times the charm.
Markus eyes the cliffs and the surf and thinks better of joining the two women. He does look for a safer way to the top of the cliffs so he can drop a rope down to Almare in case of emergency.
Perception if Needed: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
"Hold on. Let me try to get to the top of that cliff so I can lower my rope to you and at least get you off of there.

Addams Family DM |

The cliff face is steep and it takes forever to find a safe path to the top where Markus and Jin can lower the rope to help Almare. Almare in the meantime, grips tightly onto the cliff face, awaiting rescue. Noro has made it safely to the shipwreck and identifies it as the wreckage of the Jenivere.
Noro make a Perception check.

Brother Markus |

Once on top of the cliff, Markus breaks out his rope and hands the end to Jindariel. Finding a place to brace himself, he lowers the rope to Almare.
"Grab the rope. We'll let the drunk spider-monkey handle the boat."
Strength Check if needed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
