I'm from the golarion equilivent of japan

Uh. You're from Martell, the giant city. You have to have been born there. No outsiders, remember?
(This isn't Golarion. I can't make up Golarion.)

Does anyone mind if we use the Greek Pantheon?
I've always liked Greek Mythology. If domains matter, we can do them as we go. I'm fairly knowledgeable abouts it. ^_^

Shadow Lodge

D'oh I was talking to icehawk about backstory I'm was planning on being a refugee from an Asian esque island nation
A Mage burned down my town

(We could just add the Greek gods. Gods vary from planet to planet.)

There needs to be a reason that you can't just go to the next village over.
And it was never going to be on Golarion....
And your town was destroyed anyways. The only difference is how.

Well finally got around to finishing my character now just to make an alias...

Looks good to me.
Back story would be nice.
Unless Ice sees something, you're good.
(Yes, Ice, I approved the race already.)

More flight!
DX

Improved evasion... Flight... Spell likes...
Uh...

Well, if you approved the race, maybe i should play one.
Oh. That's the familiar. Now i feel stupid.

You mentioned changes for a monk? Wondering what those might be.

Also, do we gain the normal 1 point stat increases every 4th level? Or just the boons?

i can work on it.

Yes, you still get 4th level bounuses.

Thanks, I will try to figure any archetype and race tonight, but think it would be a fun class for this campaign.

How do you feel about using Greek Gods, since this isn't Golarion?

(This world could have two, seperatre pantheons, each trying to disprove the other.)

hey, you mean I could have played Xena?

I reject your reality and substitute it with my own...

Edward Sobel wrote:

Uh, what? I just thought that is what you were playing. If that was the pc, then you'd be overpowering.

what was the name of the city we are supposed to be originally from?

the one that got destroyed...

Working on a short back story

Does anyone have anything that needs to be tied to the Golarion Pantheon?
I'm honestly /much/ more familiar with the Greek...

I used Greek and Norse back in the day (1st edition games)

Martell.
(Heaven sounded weird.)

I greatly dislike Norse Mythology. >_<
(Irish decent. I have a thing about vikings....)

I only used Norse because I had a player that had a Thor fetish....weird.

short backstory for Lulu:

Lulu marches to the beat of her own drum. During her youth in Martell City, she spent most of her time wandering alone in the forest or lost in a daydream. It wasn’t that she was antisocial; the day-to-day bustle of Martell City just couldn't compete with the vibrant world of her imagination. She saw wonder in places most people overlooked. This was how she found Pix, a fey spirit, pretending to be stuck in a birdhouse. Lulu's imagination distinguished her to Pix, and he seized the opportunity to lure her into his life. He brought her to the Glade, the enchanted home of the fey, which lay nestled in a clearing in the woods. There the rigid properties of the outside world - things like size and color - changed as frequently and whimsically as the direction of the wind. Lulu felt at home in the Glade and she lingered there with Pix, fascinated by this secret place.

She quickly lost track of time. Her life in the Glade was comfortable, natural. She and Pix played fey games together, the sorts of games that she had been told were "only pretend," and she got exceedingly good at them. It caught her by surprise when she suddenly remembered that she had left a life behind in Martell City. The Glade had a way of making everything outside seem distant and surreal. Lulu decided to revisit her former home, to share some of the lovely things she'd learned, but when she and Pix returned the world had changed. Time, she discovered, was another property that behaved differently in the Glade, and centuries had passed while she was away.

"The best path between two points is upside-down, between, then inside-out and round again."
―Lulu

I figured that the destruction occurred while she was away playing with her fey friends and this is the world she found when she returned.

Also mechanically Pix is a bird but physically looks like the picture. later though Pix will be better (much more Fey like) (when I get the improved familiar feat)

The Hammer....

Martell is in the middle of a desert.
That's the only issue, though.
A portal to the Glade could be found in a consistent Sand Dune,if you like. :)

I can change it to park areas inside the city.

I believe it was an oasis right?

Yes. An oasis in the center and a city for miles around it.
:)

I am working on a modification right now, will post revision 2 shortly.

also is there any technology level in the city? like beyond standard Pathfinder stuff?

Raises hand

One that can't easily be translated to Greek?

Do they have a god of sun, healing, and forgiveness?

and for another player:
and one of murder, secrets and thevery?

Da'Vinci Sketch level stuff(that work) but nothing higher. :)

Sort of depends upon how wide a pantheon one wants. The greeks had dozens of gods, they had a minor deity for almost everything.

On the d20 site, there are two pantheons that are listed there that I believe are open source, or at least usable.

Purple Duck Games and Frog God Games deities.

No guns? (Assuming gunslingers only get them)

Are you planning on allowing Gunslingers? I have no interest in playing one, but really have never felt that they fit into the fantasy world. Just asking as I usually avoid games with gunslingers.

They had pathfinder level guns then.

I don't see any gunslingers, thus far, but in the time period, they exist, but are very primitive.
Guns are expensive and hard for upkeep.
And they don't work well in the desert. (Too much sand everywhere.)
So they exist, but will be rare if any at all.

Monk buffs...

Spoiler:
Monk changes-

Movement speed increases are racial bonuses, not enchantment bonuses.

Monks can wear padded or quilted cloth armor and still get wisdom to ac and flurry of blows.

Paths-
At level one, a monk selects a path.

Mystic path-
The monk gets the sutra casting feat (nothing else may take it.)
Every 4 levels, the monk gains an additional ki point.

Body path-
At the beginning of every day, you add your number of ki points remaining at the end of the last day as temporary hit points, lasting until the next day. Wholeness of body costs only one ki point to use.
At level 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 20, you gain the godless healing feat. (You do not need to meet the prerequisites)

Defenses path-
A monk of the defense path can wear any light armor and still get flurry of blows and his wisdom bounus to ac.
The monk gains dr/magic equal to half his monk level.
The monk can, once a round, attempt to re-direct an attack made on an adjacent friendly ally. The monk takes a -5 to ac vs this attack, but makes the ally attack him instead. This can be used an extra time per 5 monk levels.
At 4th level, the monk can spend a ki point to cast shield of faith, shield, or Mage armor on himself, with a caster level equal to his monk level.

I like the idea of having more than one pantheon
Greek and Norse is a good combo (I'm also Irish)

Yeah, well I'm pale. Much more pale, and people may mistake me for a vampire... Maybe i should go out more.

Looks good, Ed.

Here is our pantheon, courtesy of giant in the playground.
Linkified for your convenience.

Unfortunately, due to complications, i have to cancel the monk's mystic line.

Shadow Lodge

Eh? Why it was my favorite

Ok, will try to get an alias put together tomorrow, although work may interfere with my ability to get everything done before tomorrow night.

Proposal:

Human Monk(Wanderer archetype) - Defenses Path
--> Likely to go Brother of the Seal after level 6, but that remains to be decided.

Shadow Lodge

Champion of iori is a cool PrC, it only requires a one lvl dip in paladin

Iori doesn't exist, remember?

I have looked at that many times. Something I might consider if I go LG. Both it and Brother of the Seal provide some interesting nuances to the standard Monk. I have several levels to decide. One big difference is that Paladin relies on Charisma for several abilities and there is only so many stats that can reasonably be maintained.

Shadow Lodge

ah but you get into champion of iori with only the single paladin level (though most take a second level) so you don't need a high cha, you just get a few benefits if you increase what you have

I'm not telling you how to have fun, I'm just killing time, talking about the game
