I should be ready to start this tomorrow (honestly, I haven't looked at this since last week).

Do we want to choose our turn order? If so, it would probably make sense for Oloch to go last, so that he can heal whoever might take damage during the turn. Remember also that he has the power to take a combat for you.

OK - I think I'm ready.

Ranzak will take an Ally 1 and an Item B as his upgrades, and an Ally as his Card Feat.

Before the scenario he will replace cards in his deck as follows:


  • Replace his new Ally 1 (Xoff) with Poog of Zarongel
  • Replace a Blessing of the Gobs with a Blessing of Zarongel
  • Replace his Confusion spell with a Fire Sneeze

Edit: The spreadsheet randomizer must approve of my choices - it gave me all three of those new cards in my starting hand!
(the Item upgrade was to replace Smoked Glass Goggles with a Potion of Healing)

Ranzak doesn't have either the Arcane or Divine skills, so he will offer the Fire Sneeze to anyone who wants it (Oloch?)

There's not much point in digging around in the Birdcruncher Cave until we've got all the other locations closed, so Ranzak is going to head off to the Warrens to see what he can find there

Ranzak attempts to sneak off and do a little exploring on his own, but finds the whole gang is tagging along behind (and making enough noise to attract the attention of all sorts of unpleasant creatures, no doubt).

Ranzak finds a barrier! Its ... Random Barrier: 1d4 ⇒ 4 ... a longshanks (Shopkeeper's Daughter)

That's a Wisdom 8 check - Ranzak only has a d4. We can't possibly do worse than that (and failing the check doesn't cause any damage), so Ranzak is going to use his power to evade the bane and let somebody else attempt to deal with it.

We have to burn through all the decks, so I don't think we can afford to sit around.

Discarding Poog to explore again

While Urgraz is seeing off the longshanks, Ranzak continue searching for treasure.
He spots a strange glove-like object, which looks interesting!

(It's a Weapon 2 - a Cestus. Ranzak will use a blessing on the check)

Strength 7: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 1) = 7 Ranzak manages to grab the glove, although it doesn't fit him very well.

Explore Again (3): 1d6 ⇒ 5 Yes.

Ranzak's investigations seem to have uncovered one of those nasty scrolls with words on
It's a Find Traps spell - two dice to defeat a barrier! I think we want that! Ranzak uses his last blessing to add a third die)

Wisdom 6: 3d4 ⇒ (3, 2, 2) = 7 Even though he doesn't understand it, Ranzak picks up the scroll.

Explore Again (3): 1d6 ⇒ 2 No - that's the end of Ranzak's turn.

Ranzak now has two spells which he can't use without banishing them - Fire Sneeze and Find Traps. He's happy to pass them to another character. In the meantime, though, he's got three blessings and his only ally in his discard pile. If anyone has any way to heal Ranzak it would be appreciated.

If Urgraz or Oloch have a Cure spell they are prepared to use Ranzak will not actually end his turn and reset his hand until after he has been healed. I'll post the final hand update once that question is answered. In the meantime, though, here's what he has at present:

Goblin Harsk deck

Goblin Harsk takes his own walk through the Woods, finding a bottle filled with holy water! Shiny, but gonna give Goblin Harsk indigestion.
Can't succeed on the DC 8 Wisdom check, and the Blessing of Erastil is better used being discarded to explore again.
He kicks the bottle away and keeps looking, finding another poison straw thingie!
Can't fail the Ranged 5 check.
When resetting his hand, Goblin Harsk will discard the Blowgun hoping to draw something more useful — he get s a Blessing of the Gods, which will certainly do!
He then scouts out the top card of the Woods to find an Explosive Runes card, and is done.

Thanks, but I'm only trying to keep up with the others! I felt that several of the players in earlier scenarios were far more in-character in their posts than I was, so I'm working a little harder to channel Ranzak.

Not quite understanding this post, can you elaborate on your actions?


He's encountering the top card of the Nettlemaze location deck - a Goblin Pyro

As per the scenario instructions, he has to banish any bane that has the 'Goblin' trait (which a Goblin Pyro does) and instead summon and encounter a bane of the same type (monster, in this case) that does not have the Goblin trait.

tl;dr he needs you to summon a random non-goblin monster for him to fight.

He then discards his ally to explore some more and finds a non goblin trickwood boar

Urgraz stand right where the boar can charge him
warhammer +1: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 6) + 4 = 13
But he gets his timing right and sidesteps as he smashes the beasts heade in
