How old is Arayas? We could be from totally different parts of the world, or from fairly close to one another. It's kinda eerie how our two backstories worked out though. :P
Oh, also... would you mind bolding speech in your posts? It's a convention most people here use to make posts easier to read. (We also use italics for inner dialogue/thoughts, when applicable.)
I had her at 20, basically the thought being she recently passed her trials and became a Sentry.
Yeah, I'll be bolding speech in play, figured as it was written more as a straight up story I'd type it normalish.
Works for me. I have Dernaras at 46. Her mother was a human spy back in the time of the open wars between the two races, and she participated in about ten years of the second such war... that would've been shortly after Arayas' birth, and now the open fighting's been over for about 5 years.
Of course, that could've been elsewhere in the world, or with elves other than those of the Dragon Wood. Does that line up with your vision of the area, or should we make it two separate groups?

My thought was that, while both the humans and elves would like to say "look, the fighting has ended, we even have a half elf who works with both factions for the betterment of everyone" in actuality both factions are still somewhat hostile to each other.
Your backstory jives nicely with mine. It could either work into a sort of mentor type relationship, or an adversarial one depending on how the campaign goes.
(Btw, I find it awesome how our backstories and even our names almost seem to weave themselves together.)
Dernaras probably wouldn't be held up as the one working with both factions; she's currently living with the elves and recovering from the war... and learning how to make better, more awesome candles.
Oh I meant my character is kind of touted as that.
It's a warm fuzzy story to tell people, but isn't really a true reflection of the actual situation.
