Hi all,
My friend will be joining our ROTRL group he's an unarmed fighter (loves punching people in the face) joining us at level 6. Could I get some ideas for a backstory for him how it would make sense for him to join us and just some general ideas about his character. My apologizes if this is in the wrong forum, thanks for your assistance.

OK. You're back from Thistletop then (though I am a little surprised he'll be entering at L6 at this point in the AP).
This does simplify things since you don't need elaborate back stories to explain how the new character got involved. They could simply live in Sandpoint, which means they've been through the goblin attack at the Swallowtail Festival.
One idea:
It was just bad luck that kept him from getting directly involved earlier. During the goblin raid, his family's home caught fire and nearly went up in flames. While the guard dealt with the stray goblins, he and a dozen others formed a small bucket brigade, and were able to put it out before it engulfed their home or spread to neighboring buildings. He spent the last few days helping make repairs.
With the repairs finished, he has a lot of pent up energy with nothing to do, and a lot of frustration and anger with no one to take it out on...except maybe the people responsible for what happened, if he could just figure out who they are. He heard rumors this is about more than just a few goblins, and went to the sheriff to ask how he can get involved.

Awesome! Thank you very much, most useful :)
