so a level 1 hunter with a scorpion animal companion, using the scorpion aspect gives it a +7 at level 1 which is pretty nice. My question though is how to go about getting improved grapple as fast as possible. Given that scorpions have - intelligence i would have to raise it 3 points for it to get feats. Thats a lot of levelling. Once i can afford it, would a headband of intellect +2 help? any other faster ways?

ok so i was checking this out, is it allowed to add intelligence to ascorpion? I use hero lab, and i know it is riddled with errors on occasion, but if i add the caretaker to a halfling it will not let me increase the intelligence, but it will anyother stat. Not sure if thats a glitch, or a rule i dont know about

It must be a Glitch because in the rules for Animal companions it talks about Vermin gaining INT and losing the Mindless trait, gaining skills and tricks.
Mindless: Vermin companions have no Intelligence score and possess the mindless trait. In spite of this, vermin companions may learn one trick, plus additional bonus tricks as noted on Table: Animal Companion Base Statistics. If a vermin animal companion gains an ability score increase (at 4 Hit Dice, 8 Hit Dice, and so on), the druid can apply this increase to the companion’s Intelligence, changing it from — to 1, at which point the companion loses the mindless quality and is able to know up to 3 tricks per point of Intelligence, plus the additional bonus tricks, as per Handle Animal. Vermin companions have no skill points or feats as long as they have the mindless quality.
