Lore Question: Non-Human Sylphs et all

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

The lore that I've read says that they are humans with elemental ancestry. But are Sylphs, Oreads, Ifrits, etc also from non-human races?

Oreads are really Dwarven for example. 20ft movement, +2 Str/Wis, -2Cha. Earth focus
Sylphs seem really elven. +2 Dex/Int, -2 Con. Air focus, with elf and Sylph racials overlapping

If I sat down at a table and said that my Sylph is from elven parents with some djinn in their background...would that be lore friendly?

To my knowledge, they can exist with non-human parents, and their size category fits their parentage.

Actually, Oreads are known to have a bit of dwarven blood at times. They even have a feat they can take to accentuate that ancestry.

Keep in mind that the only differences would be cosmetic. You don't get any of the elven traits in this case.

Thanks everyone. Even being cosmetic, Sylph feels pretty elven (5 electricity resistance is also an elven racial, +4 stealth feels elven, darkvision is just an upgrade and stats match).

Also thanks for pointing out the oread/dwarf ties. I think at the gaming table I'll just describe him as: "He looks like a well dressed, pale elf, with nearly invisible blue tattoos on all visible skin. He wears a shirt of mithril chain, and a rapier hangs from his belt."
