enveration vs familiars+animal companions

Hello,
Since enervation effects levels of a PC ,but Familiars don't have levels per say they are based off the caster, would Enervation even cause effects to a familiar?

I would say you would roll and that is how it's BAB,saves,CMB etc... are effected.

Enervation does not effect your level, it adds negative levels. Each negative level removes 5 hp and gives you a -1 penalty to pretty much everything, and if you get as many negative levels as your level or hd, you croak.

So, a familiar or animal companion would suffer the standard damage and penalties and die if the negative levels equal its hd. Jus like any other target of the spell.

That is what I thought, thanks. I know it doesn't effect levels ,but it is late at night and brain suffering negative levels.
