It was way under the radar. I never heard a word about it until long after it was over. Granted, I didn't have a TV through most of the 90s, but you figured I would've heard something about it being a nerd and all.

I saw it for the first time when it was shown in Polish TV in the second half of nineties. It was shown around 16 or 18 between 4 and 6 am. I haven't seen all the episodes then, though, as I missed some of them because of various reasons. I watched all of them much later, though.

I've never seen it so it can't be important.

Ha!

I was enjoying B5 during my newfound freedom in the 90s. It seemed a big deal to me. They do a big change from season 1 to 2 if I remember correctly... something about the network forcing it's ideas down the throats of the producers. But overall the show is really good till the end of the Shadow War.

There are two significant changes between season 1 and 2: Michael O'Hare (commander Sinclair) leaves and is replaced by captain Sheridan (played by Bruce Boxleitner). Sinclair has a few guest appearances in the series later.

It was revealed after the death of O'Hare by the series creator J. Michael Straczynski that he started suffering from paranoid delusions during the filming and left to seek treatment.

Another major change is that the bigger story arc plays much more important role in the later episodes. The first season is much looser with more focus on a plot of the week.

Friend and dog coming over tonight for dinner and to watch Ep VII. I made crock-pot lasagna and will make sauteed garlic spinach and fresh garlic bread. Excited to see the puppy. It's the first time she's come over since Shadow died. I don't know if she'll even notice.

And of course, I have my second migraine in 3 years tonight. :/

Oh, Babylon 5, where have you been all my life?
IMHO B5 is one of the best science fiction TV series ever. I wish I had known that you had never seen it when you were in Savannah, GA. I would have lent it to you.
Soldier through season 1, it really lays a solid foundation for the epic to come.
I'm actually really enjoying season 1.

Is this really that big of a thing that I missed out on? I don't remember it being on TV at all (granted, I was fairly young, and we didn't have cable), and aside from my ex's brother mentioning it a few times, no one I knew ever really talked about it.

Even when we got cable, during the time when I did nothing but watch Farscape and Stargate SG-1 on the SciFi channel in my parents' basement, it never even crossed my radar. I think I heard Spoony mention it in passing on his show relatively recently, maybe, but other than that...

Like some others have said, it was very under the radar at the time. I found out by accident, while channel surfing. There was also, if I recall correctly, a network change and some uncertainty as to whether it would be able to finish it's five year run.

There was also an attempt at a spinoff, but that didn't pan out too well.

The continuation into the fifth season was very uncertain so they compressed planned story arcs for fourth and fifth season into the fourth one. Only then the creators got confirmation that there will be season five, which forced them to invent new plots and ideas for fifth season. Which is a sort of let down after fourth season, though it also has some excellent scenes and episodes...

Indeed. And that was an awesome episode, as was...

Spoiler:
the final episode, Sleeping in Light

But one of my favorite episodes is still....

Spoiler:
the Season 4 Finale, The Deconstruction of Falling Stars.

If you're a GM who hates gnomes, this monster is for you!

Mike, a note: description of Charisma damage is unclear. Does the Charisma drain happening on a critical hit takes place in addition to or instead of Charisma damage?

Because this ability is wider than Ability damage from Universal Monster rules I'd name it differently and expand its description - something along the lines of:

Quote:
Sap Charisma (Su) A flabberghast hitting a target with its claw inflicts 1d6 points of Charisma damage in addition to hit damage. If it scores a critical hit, it also/instead causes 1d2 points of Charisma drain...

RPG Superstar 2012

Good catch! I changed it around a bit.

Cool story!

Whelp. Picked up a shift tonight, setting myself up for a sixteen-hour run. It's all about the Benjamins baby ...

Plus this shift is included in the paycheck I will be receiving as I get ready for my trip to NYC.

As an aside, is anyone interested in hooking up Sunday? PM me, hit me up here, if you are not FHDM you can get me on FB. Or on Whedonbook . Or the Good Eats message boards ;)

By the way I am officially done with weddings.

I swear, there is no decorum among a bunch of rowdy drunk wedding goers. Everyone reverts to 11th grade, and I'm their HS bus driver. The little bastards smoked a joint on my bus while I was driving last night. And left about two cases of empties behind. And dropped 30 cupcakes on the floor.

I mean, come on, that's just throwing away nickels.

B5 was a big deal,
and still is, far as I know, among the Nerds & Convention-goers.

I missed alot of it, but enjoyed all that I saw.
Need to go back and binge-watch them all, but will need a lot of willpower or alcohol to endure that much binging. Some pretty serious stuff in there among the fun bits. :)

My favorite Quote?

Spoiler:

Ivanova: "And just one more thing. On your way back, I'd like you to take the time to learn the Babylon 5 mantra: 'Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. And, if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out! Babylon control out. … Civilians." [Looks at ceiling.] "Just kidding about that God part. No offence."

Hey, you're a theater geek. Did you happen to catch SNL's "Crucible Cast Party" number?

Sadly, I haven't watched SNL since it's now-classic/glory days of old. ;)

That sounds like an interesting skit though. I may have to look that one up. :)

I had to see the one with Lin-Manuel Miranda hosting. Needed to see the guy who saved Alexander Hamilton from obscurity. *swoon*

Plus this was the first Broadway star to host in, like, decades.

Thanks to a switch in bus plans I get to be home early! Dinner and Westworld before work tonight \m/O.O\m/

Westworld. Still engrossing

OK, maybe I haven't totally lost my taste for tactical roleplaying...

There's always this little voice in the back of my head that says "If your PbP post doesn't look like a wall of numbers and legal text, you're playing the game wrong."

The Ultimate Guide To DIY Off Grid Solar Power

After the latest hurricane happy fun times, I find myself looking at stuff like this more and more. Sadly, it is below the top 20 things that MUST be done the minute I get the spare money. But it is in the top 50 or so.

If and when I get my own house again, solar is on my 50 things to do as well
