Where to find an Arsinoitherium?

Advice

Grand Lodge

The bestiary says "temperate plains". I'm in Sandpoint right now (lvl 3, Rise of the Runelords) (near Magnimar). The GM says I can "order" one. I had a t-rex but it was eaten by a bunyip. So right now I'm making do with a chameleon but I'd really rather get back to my "approved goliath druid pets".

Just from looking at the map, there's Storval Plateau about 400 miles to the northeast. Would they be found there?

I must admit that this give me some strange image.

The Storval Plateu is somewhat similar to Arizona. Very arid or semi-desertic. It don't seem the best area to find a giant woolly rhinoceros. I would look further to the East, but the best answer is "ask your GM".

Arsinoitheriums weren't rhinoceroses. Some fossils have been found in what were once swampy lowland areas or grassland areas. I'm not familiar with the Golarion setting at all, but if the Storval Plateau is a grassy area with lots of small rivers, there's your beastie.

From Wikipedia: found in northern Africa from 36 to 30 million years ago, in areas of tropical rainforest and at the margin of mangrove swamps. A newly discovered species, Arsinoitherium giganteum, lived in Ethiopia ~27 million years ago.

Megafauna of that sort, based on animals extinct on real-life Earth, are mostly found in the Realm of the Mammoth Lords and in the Mwangi Expanse on Golarion. Based on DMCal's research above, the latter sounds more like such a creature's habitat, although it's easier to explain how it got to Sandpoint if it came from the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, perhaps via the Hold of Belkzen.
