Rules check - bonus feats - hypothetical question

Rules Questions

Just double checking my understanding on bonus feats. I misread an archetype earlier and the question occurred to me, and I got to wondering:-

If a class grants a bonus feat you have to meet the prerequisites, unless it specifically tells you you don't need to, right?

The part I am failing to find:

If you don't meet the prerequisites at the time the feat is available, do you gain that feat after you've gained a level or 2 and now meet the prerequisites? Or if you miss the opportunity, it is lost forever?

You get the feat when you get it.

If you do not fulfill the prereqs for a feat you have, it goes inactive. Once you fulfill the prereqs (again), it goes active.

what archetype are you thinking of?

I can't find the archetype that triggered the thought chain, I have re-read all the ones I looked at earlier and all of them appear to have feats with no prereqs. (I got lots of new books today it has been fun skimming them, but I'll have to re-read it all to properly absorb it).

Valid point Guru, you haven't strictly selected it, so there is an argument that you gain the feat you just can't use it. I guess I overthought the 'select' clause.
