I have to commend you on this Archetype, great work! I had not batted a second look at the class till I had heard of this archetype. While it might not be the most balanced (tad under-balanced IMHO), but the flavor of the class I think really opened it up to another entire section of type of gamers! Only thing I could ask is to please give up more evolutions, and please try to work with this archetype as much as possible!
So I just like to thank you for a job well done.

I absolutely love this archetype but one thing bugs me and that is the eidolon is referred to as being transparent and i would really have loved it if it just looks like a normal eidolon
I agree. Love it, playing one for the first time in Society tonight.
I'm personally ignoring that transparent part. I mean it's flavor text anyway not anything mechanical.
Alex Draconis

that is true and after talking to my DM friend we agreed we would ignore that part.
Still, I hate that transparent line in there. I mean there's many possibilities that you can run with that achetype;
1. Power armor gyver type. You wear your eidolon. It's a distinct entity though.
2. Cursed/gifted transformation. You actually become the eidolon. Think the Hulk/Spawn. (This is what I went with) Let's just say don't make deals with devils.
3. Totemic/spirit infusion. Your god/Gaia/power of greyskull/whatever infuses you and changes you. Technically there is no "eidolon", just an alternate you. Yes think He-Man or The Darkness comics, I guess anime magical girls would fall under this too.
See, all that with one archetype. Like our government, no transparency required. ; )

Yeah, it is just a visual thing. So long as it is clear that this is a mystical summoned being over a caster, then whatever it looks like does not matter.
P.S. One of the only nit-pics I have is that I wish Pounce was not restricted to only one form.
I would be alright if I had to pay more, but have it only restricted to natural attacks.

Love all of these ideas, thought of them myself as well.
Like to add
Higher self - god born, awakening their true power, or at least what their current mortal body can handle at the moment.
P.S. With the Inevitable's you can justify a fully mechanical looking outsider.

Indeed Sir, *wry grin* there's always Kratos or Hercules. Just make sure your other players can handle that level of "modesty", namely zero.

By your eidolons combined, I am captain Planet!
Mind you that woulld be a nifty trick to allow summoners to combine their beasties into a greater whole. A bit like a coven perhaps.
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!!!

My summoner's eidolon is something akin to a mix between the Darkness and a possessing creature so it's not transparent and covers most of him when he brings it forth (man, I wish there was a feat that let you summon your eidolon as a full-round action instead of 1 minute).
My DM allowed a few tweaks to the synthesist (the eidolon grants bonus feats that can only be chosen if the eidolon could normally take them and the eidolon grants 4 skills at a rank equivalent to the eidolons HD (chosen from the eidolon's list, +1 of my choice, can't change them), both are only available when fused with the eidolon; on session 2 today and it's been very helpful for builds).

Oh ya I forgot the obvious example in my list. Venom.
There isn't a feat for summoning your eidolon that fast, but there is a summoner spell.... ; )

What would be nice for this archetype is a combat summoner PrC. Requires something like a fighter, paladin, or barbarian level dip (Full BaB and armor/weapon prof.). You stop getting spells, but instead you get full BaB for 5-10 levels, but you also continue your evolutions, plus a few other additions like maybe partial fighter level progression similar to the EK.
As to solving the the transparency problem, here is a little feat I just thought up.
Full Manifestation
Requirements: 1 level Synthesist Archetype Summoner
Benefit: Your summoned eidolon no longer appears transparent. It instead has the appearance of a completely physical form fully covering the synthesist. Anyone looking at it must make a DC 10 knowledge plane or arcane check to know what it is from a normal planer being, as their form's unorthodox appearance tends to tip a lot off to their true nature rather quickly. The difficulty increases by +1 for every hit die the eidolon possess.
In addition, if the synthesist happens to have the same or higher physical stat then their eidolon (naturally with out magic items) use their stat with a +2 instead while the two are fused together. Magic items still work normally with that stat. This does not effect hit points, as you still get the combination of both the synthesist's and the temporary hit points granted by the eidolon.

My character even speaks in plural form when fused. I should have thought of Venom but it didn't even occur to me until you just mentioned it; and I thought I was being cool. Damn I'm getting old at 28!

Just made a quick edit, note it above.
It works because one of the greatest problem with this archetype is that the stats distribution is a lot worse than the normal summoner. You are going to want combat feats since you are going to be on the front line, that takes combat stats. Then throw in the casting stat, you start to get into some trouble.

Your bond with your eidolon is now stronger and while fused you become more as one.
Requirements: 1st level Synthesist archetype summoner
Benefit: Your summoned eidolon no longer appears transparent. It instead has the appearance of a completely physical form, covering your own. You are considered disguised (see the Disguise skill) as your eidolon and receive a +10 bonus on this check.
Furthermore, if you have a higher physical ability score than your eidolon, use this score instead. Your eidolon is not considered to have your Constitution score for the purpose of determining its temporary hp if your Constitution score is higher.
Special: Penalties applied to your synthesists Dexterity score due to a larger sized eidolon is applied to the higher ability score.

Don't like the disguise just covering you part. You're excluding both #2 and #3 in my examples. You know BEING the eidolon.
Not everyone wants to run around in a dino suit all Barney like.
But, but... I like being killer Barney!
Besides, the way the whole thing works is more akin to living power armor than polymorph. I think your 20th level ability is the one that actually makes you into your eidolon, so a feat might not be a good choice there. The disguise check was the only mechanical way I could think of (bar writing up a whole new block) that would allow someone a chance to see that you're not just a beastie but a summoner.

I. AM. IRON. MAN.
This archetype is pretty much exactly what I was going to submit in round 2 of this year's RPG Superstar, had I made the cut, although I wouldn't have included the transparent thing.
So I definitely agree with the feats folks are proposing above to make the fused eidolon non-transparent. Either that, or have a 1-point, synthesist-only evolution for a non-transparent eidolon.

Somehow I missed the whole bit about it being transparent. That's a little weird and makes the steam-punk/ iron man type concepts a little difficult to really pull off.
I choose to just ignore it.

Personally I would say it was +15 + Hit die circumstance bonus to disguise, as it is totally covering you.

Ok well I don't mind that there would be a check to tell that the creature you're facing is actually a synthesist. I wouldn't make it a disguise check, that implies the summoner is actually trying to conceal something. I'd make it a perception check to tell that the creature you're observing is actually a fused summoner.
Hmm although I guess disguise sets the perception DC. I had half the equation, I shouldn't think about rules at 2:20am.I just don't want it to devolve into just a guy in a suit thing.
Unless of course if it's a robot in a dog suit. That's ok. ;)
Lose the "covering your own" part and change it to, "covering or replacing your own" and I'm good.
Wait a second, the best solution in my opinion would be to just errata the transparent part out. UM p.80 Fused Eidolon, delete sentence "Instead of..."

For the record, the description says translucent not transparent. The Eidolon doesn't need to be see-through, if light can shine through it at all it is RAW. And I think that is how it needs to be... transparent and opaque both lead to slightly off-benchmark uses...(the hidden tentacle and the 1st level polymorph)

The archetype does not remove thre big glowly glyph on the eidolon's noggin, so it's relatively obvious to those knowledgeable in such matters that there is an eidolon standing there. The opaque appearance might buy you some confusion at lower levels for those wondering "where's the @#! Summoner hiding?!"
