It doesn't mention morale anywhere, though I think it is an emotion-based effect, considering that it is affected by Calm Emotions.

Well, that would imply any strong feelings, of any kind, from any source, are considered emotion based effects.
I mean, if we don't consider that explicitly referring to Core Rage.
You don't get any skill penalties from just feeling sad... Although love makes the world go round. And has been known to provide a +2 circumstance bonus to certain skill checks.
The point is that you get your bonuses because you're raging. It's an emotion (rage) that provides an effect (+2 to hit/damage, among others). I'd say that it was emotion-based.
As for your other thread, if you can justify/flavor it not being emotional, then you should. I don't like taking more CHA than I have to, unless it boosts my saves or spellcasting.

From my discussions with Jason around the time that we removed the "morale" type from the Unchained barbarian's bonuses, the purpose was entirely to make sure rage would still stack with heroism and other common effects that grant morale bonuses, but rage was still an emotion effect. This is, of course, as usual, not an official ruling.
