Problem threads

Website Feedback

Can we make a list of problem-type threads somewhere so that we can tell people to stop posting them? Things like Alignment threads and Paladins falling and Martial/Caster disparity rants and arguments. Anybody have anything in particular to add?

First of all, this should be in Website Feedback.

Second of all, this issue has a solution already: if you don't like threads, there's a hide thread button.

We can start with this thread.

Wait, really? I haven't seen it before. Where?

It's the little circle with a diagonal line through it on the far right (next to the time stamp of the last post).

EDIT: wait, maybe it's not functional, at the moment (?)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

How about we start a thread where we tell people to stop telling other people to stop posting threads.

Wait... is this that thread now?

Thanks, I didn't notice that before. :)

Actually arguments are important. The reason why there's always a constant slush of alignment, paladin and balance threads on any DnD/Pathfinder board is because there are problems that need to be addressed and until those problems are addressed they won't stop.

As long as no one is bombarding you with links to those threads in your private inbox I don't think anything needs to be done about them.

Good point. I was just having one of those moments earlier today when one of *those* threads that I was lurking on devolved into some sort of unique combination of dictionary references, concentrated personal opinions, rules lawyery quotes, and viewpoint intolerance. At least at the moment, they felt particularly pointless and I felt that I could say something about it.

That can be pretty frustrating. For me though, the threads most likely to devolve into the often pedantic and personal bickering are also the threads most likely to generate good discussion exactly because the participants have such passionate views on the issues.

True, after the first such thread others can seem to cover the same ground. To me this cyclical reemergence of an issue suggests that it is real, rather than merely perception. I might not necessarily experience them as problems in my own games, but when I see these issues raised by different people, over years, I can see that they merit consideration.
