Debuffer: Witch vs Shaman

Advice

Who does it better? I'm getting a backup character ready in case my current one bites the dust, and I've decided on going the debuffer route, but can't really decide between these two.

Sovereign Court

They have the same essential tools (Evil eye, Slumber) hexes for debuffing, which by the way, the Shaman version of evil eye is a bit better.

But the witch get to have more options like split hex for example.

At the end of the day both classes excel at debuffing, so depend if you like to play around with spirits or want to go the arcane route with patrons.

What about spell lists? I know they're both pretty similar via Hexes and such.

Sovereign Court

The witch has a better spell list but well the witch spell list does suffer from some weakness here and there. Shaman spell list is a bit weak but it is still a 9th level caster at the end.

This is just me, comparing the basic spell lists, not taking into account patrons or spirits. Because for example, Lore Spirit from Shaman can get the best spells from the wizard spell list(easily the best in the game) or with half-orc, human, half-elf with their favored class bonuses for shaman.

The witch option of course to get better spells is simply to be a Samsaran with mystic past life and poach spells from the Wizard spell list.

For debuffing the witch is Best but the shaman have options like human FCB and the lore spirit that allow them to close the gap and pehaps even supass the witch if they are used well.

I'd just finished playing a witch when shaman came out and found them underwhelming in comparison. Take that as just my own experience but witch surpasses in my opinion.

Witch's spell list is very debuffing focused. Shaman spell list is far more versatile, and can become even more versatile with Lore spirit and Human FCB.
