So, I need to flag a post... but what to choose?
Some of these I know, some I don't, and some I've asked but have been ignored or missed. Nonetheless, I've seen numerous questions on this topic, previously - although the categories are mostly self-explanatory, there are a few things that defy obvious classification. So I figured I'd make a pseudo-FAQ thread for the curious!
When flagging a:
- Spammer, which do I choose?
- Post that has a link to an NSFW site, but lacks that warning, what do I choose?
Is flagging my own post the correct response when I've:
- Made a spelling error?
- Unintentionally insulted someone or something?
- Improperly used BBCode Markups?
What happens (or what should I do) when I:
- Select "just wanted to try the flagging system"?
- Disagree with a deleted or edited post, or a moved thread?
- Accidentally flag a post (or flag it, then regret it)?
- See a post that contains words purposefully replicated from a Paizo-created work? (Such as an extended quote, with page citations.)
Are multiple flags important, or if a post is already flagged by one person, is that enough?
Thanks! I'm encouraging us to put all our questions related to the flagging system in this thread, to make the whole experience better for all of us, and to have a simple, single place to point to for future questions.

I don't know if you want answers, but here are mine:

Breaks other guidelines.
- Post that has a link to an NSFW site, but lacks that warning, what do I choose?
Offensive/sexist/racist.
Is flagging my own post the correct response when I've:

- Improperly used BBCode Markups?
Wow. You have standards!
- Unintentionally insulted someone or something?
I'd use Personal insult/abusive.
What happens (or what should I do) when I:
- Disagree with a deleted or edited post, or a moved thread?
Send an email to community@paizo.com or start a thread in the website feedback subforum.
- Accidentally flag a post (or flag it, then regret it)?
Don't worry about it. I've done this a few times and asked about an "undo" option - the reply was that it's such a little deal it's not really worth them worrying about.
- See a post that contains words purposefully replicated from a Paizo-created work? (Such as an extended quote, with page citations.)
I wouldn't stress, but if it were bad enough, I guess Copyright/Intellectual Property Infringement.

I don't know if you want answers, but here are mine:
Thanks! Those are good answers (and some of them reflect the mods' specific ones in different other threads I've seen), however, I'm specifically looking for mods to answer these questions so I can point to this thread any time similar questions arise in the future and go "here thar be mods' answers" for all similar related questions.
As I said, most of those I know the answers for, but I figured it would be helpful for the mods to not have to answer the same questions over and over again, as well as to have a method of bypassing any sort of "well, that's just your opinion, man" kind of debate that can reasonably rise from a healthy distrust of second-hand reporting - effectively creating a FAQ for such things.
That said, I appreciate your feedback, Steve! :D

When flagging a:
- Spammer, which do I choose?
"Breaks other guidelines" works just fine. For spammers it's really obvious to use why the post is being flagged, and the type of specific flag for these isn't particularly essential for our moderation staff to know.
- Post that has a link to an NSFW site, but lacks that warning, what do I choose?
We don't currently have a firm stance on this, but "Breaks other guidelines" works in this case.
Is flagging my own post the correct response when I've:
- Made a spelling error?
Sure, you can use the "BBCode markup/display problem" flag for this.
- Unintentionally insulted someone or something?
Sure, though it may be a good idea to drop a line to community@paizo.com if it's not super obvious so we have some idea of why it's been flagged.
- Improperly used BBCode Markups?
Sure, you can use the "BBCode markup/display problem" flag for this.
What happens (or what should I do) when I:
- Select "just wanted to try the flagging system"?
Nothing really. It's want it says on the tin ;)
- Disagree with a deleted or edited post, or a moved thread?
Post to this forum or email us at community@paizo.com about it.
- Accidentally flag a post (or flag it, then regret it)?
No worries, we see accidental flags a lot and it tends to be obvious. For the latter, I'd say send us an email at community@paizo.com so we're aware of it.
- See a post that contains words purposefully replicated from a Paizo-created work? (Such as an extended quote, with page citations.)
Flag as "Copyright/intellectual property infringement." In general large portions of our book text aren't something that should be copied/pasted onto our forums. If it's a small quote/reference, it's fine, but large sections of our non-OGL content shouldn't be copied/pasted into forum posts.
Are multiple flags important, or if a post is already flagged by one person, is that enough?
We have some level of filters for quantity of flags, but the number of flags is not directly related to whether that post/thread is going to get more attention. We sift through them daily and if something's been flagged, we're going to see it :)
Hopefully this helps! I have some plans to adjust our FAQ a bit when we have time, and maybe some of this will end up there.
When the post that compared me to Hitler (for saying humans don't have tails in Pathfinder) was allowed to stand, I quit flagging any posts.
If you see something like this, please contact us at community@paizo.com. If we don't know about an issue, we can't do anything about it.
