So I am making an eldritch scion for an upcoming game and I have really wanted to use the word casting system because it looks so cool. But I was wondering how I would go about making am that type of character like what words to take and such.
The word casting system is actually pretty dang awesome. It can be very versatile and powerful once you understand how to combine effect words. In general the biggest benefiters are spontaneous casters, this is because combining words doesn't cost any additional actions and you have all of your words available for casting or combining all the time. Yeah I really like the idea of a wordcasting magus but did not like the idea of a wordcasting prepcaster. That is why I took eldritch scion, what I was wondering is what some good or cool first level word combos might be. One thing I was wondering is are there any other books other than UM that have words of power?
There was a 3rd party book with some words in it but I can't remember it's name.
As for 1st level word "combos" they don't exist, level one words and a few boosted level 0 words are it for 1st level slots. It doesn't get good till 3rd level slots then you can start combining the words effectively.
I haven't looked at the magus' word list but I'm sure it's not great so you might want to look at ways of getting off list words.
