Bloody Claws and Bleed?

Rules Questions

I'm a little confused by the spell bloody claws. The text of the spell makes it seem as though you deal extra damage with every attack although it (as well as the universal monster rule) state that bleed attacks and damage never stack.

You give a creature the ability to deal bleed damage when making natural attacks so long as the attack deals slashing or piercing damage. This bleed damage for each attack is equal to one-half your caster level (limited to the creature's maximum damage with that attack), though bleed damage does not stack. When two or more attacks deal bleed damage, take the worse effect.

Does the spell grant reoccurring damage each round or do you deal the extra damage with each hit and reoccurring damage equal to 1/2 caster level?

The creature you cast this spell on gets bleed damage on all of its natural attacks. The amount of bleed damage is 1/2 your caster level (not to exceed the maximum damage the creature could do with that attack).

When it hits a creature that can bleed, it does this as extra damage that continues doing damage every round until healed. If hits the creature again, there will be no change to the bleed amount because it will always be the same and it doesn't stack.

The part about bleed damage for each attack is to clarify that all the natural attacks of the creature gain this damage.; it does not in any way alter the normal rules for stacking bleed damage.

Ok that's what I thought, thanks for clearing it up.

Sometimes these bleed effects read strange...

some of them like this one and others, kind of feel like they cause bleed, and the attack causes extra damage as a rider effect along.
This spell for instance i thoght caused bleed, then also had bleed damage added to t he attack.
I know thats not how bleed works but man more than a few abilities have read sounding like that sadly.
Honestly i sorta wish things did work like that... the attack causes instant bleed damage but the Damage of time bleed only did the greatest number.
would make a bleed centered character more fun

Yeah as is this spell really doesn't feel like its worth its 4th level slot.

Nope sadly not. Can be plenty of fun though in the right situation

I was kinda hopoing unchained might do something for Bleed (as it stands.. its not useful at tall unlessy our TWF with wounding blades. and even then later on things are just immune. by the time you can get bleeding critical a lot of things are immuniel.. It's a shame.

Though bleed is sooo much fun when it does work
