Just wanted to give a quick update on where we are at with the schedule of events. I've tallied up all the submissions from Paizo employees and other companies and community members and we're looking at 176 events ranging from seminars, workshops, games and "other". This does not include Pathfinder Society RPG or ACG.
My goal is to have the event lottery up early or mid-April.
How the lottery selection works:
We will be blogging and emailing when we have the Event schedule ready for lottery choices. Anyone who has a 4 day badge will be able to rank lottery events on how much they would like to attend an event. Once the timeframe for selection is up, we'll run the lottery which randomizes things and gives everyone who has made selection preferences a fair shot at getting into the high profile and/or limited seating events. Once that has happened, we open up event registration to everyone and folks can add remove and trade events. Shortly before the show we'll close down online event registration so we can print event tickets and assemble attendees packets. (Any open seats at events will go onto a corkboard that anyone can take or leave extra tickets from).
Buddies:
If an attendee wants to register for events in the Event Lottery, they will need to have a PaizoCon 4-Day Badge on their own account (these can be transferred from your My E-Tickets page). The Event Lottery has a buddy system for up to 2 people to be linked up for events they select. The Event Lottery buddy system doesn't allow for groups larger than 2 to sign up together (this is a policy that we have in place because of the demand for some of the seats in higher profile lottery events). However, event trading occurs after the lottery is run if the third person is looking for an open seat. It's also possible that there may be an open seat if not enough people signed up for an event.
Kids Badges are not eligible for the Event Lottery process as they are meant for younger individuals who would not be doing as many games/events but are still interested in taking part in the convention. If a younger attendee is looking for a full convention schedule, they should purchase a full 4 day badge. Kids Badges can sign up to events when open registration begins if their badge has been transferred to an individual's account. There is no buddy system for open registration. There are some evens specifically targeted at kids which are left out of the lottery system specifically to make sure kids have the opportunity to sign up.
Thanks for the update, this is good information to have.

This is good! Now I have a timeframe to start drooling, rather than drooling for a couple extra weeks!
Awesome!
Thank you for all your hard work Sara!

I have just viewed and approved the finished version of something for event pages that has been "in the queue" for over 3 years. I'm so excited for you all to see it when events go live!

I don't get to do the fancy upcoming new product release teaser blogs so I have to milk this for all its worth.
The suspense is killing us!!
How long is the time frame for selection of events for the lottery? I ask because I will be driving cross country for a few days and will not have a computer on me during that time. I would hate to miss out on it if the lottery selection is only a day or two long.

You'll also be emailed ahead of time before this goes live :)
We try to let the selection of preferences stretch over at least one weekend to allow for various types of technological access from our attendees.
I have probably refreshed this page 15 times today in hopes the lottery would be up. Sadly I remain dissapointed.
I know, I know. Patience is a virtue and all that.

You're not the only one...
I am starting to enter events onto the site and will hopefully be able to make them live tonight or tomorrow morning. I had an incident with excel that delayed me a little bit yesterday and had some last minute changes that had to be dealt with this morning. (That spam war didn't help either).

DAMN YOU Spam War!!!!!
Thank you Sara and the whole team for all the hard work and effort you guys are putting in to make PaizoCon such an amazing experience. I cannot speak for others but I really appreciate it.
We are doing a soft roll out of events. General PFS is now live and I am making events live as I create them. PaizoCon Events. You are supposed to be able to go to the event's individual page when you click the link but that's not working at the moment and tech is looking into why.
If you see something up with an event, please let me know as soon as possible. And don't spread the word on this quite yet. I'm not ready for the deluge of questions since I have the bulk of events to enter onto the site still.
Also, we've fixed the issue with event pages so you can now view a single event's page. Notice anything new about them?
Wait... I thought the Seige of Serpents special was on FRIDAY night... it's listed as SATURDAY night right now... which is the night of the dinner, right?
Okay, then the one word will be a quiet "yay!"

I LOOOOOOOVE the search feature! Fantastic!
What is the difference between CORE and NORM events?

It's so exciting to see these games listed! While we're talking CORE vs NORM, would it be possible to add that distinction to the search feature? I see that one can pick all the scenarios under CORE or NORM, but it'd be cool to just check a single box and see only one or the other.
Also - Sunday night special, everyone is a 7th-level Aspis agent? Awwwwrsum!
I think it may require additional code to get it as a search option, but I think there might be a way to do it without.
Alas it did not work. I'll ask the tech team about it tomorrow since that would be a very handy feature.
I am currently drooling over the list, and it doesn't look finished.......

Auriea wrote: I am currently drooling over the list, and it doesn't look finished....... Not even close. I've got Friday's games entered and I have about 18 more seminars. Unfortunately I need to call it a night, but I'll be back in bright and early to enter more! I've also have an assistant tomorrow as well to make it go faster.
Yeah, it looks like my Anagnorisis and other Mark's Out of Retirement are the first lottery games up. All Marks, all the time!

Are the PFS Special events considered lottery events or are they open events like all the other PFS games?
They are usually lottery events, but due to the enormous amount of seats available for them they traditionally have not filled up via lottery.
Its my First paizocon, its just weird to me that 1-7 slots aren't advertised. I understand that i can look for pick up games, but i'm not sure if there is anything i could or should do now. Are the lottery games perhaps played within the 1-7 time frame? I also thought i saw something about a miniature trading event? Hopefully they will have some more of this stuff locked down in the next week or two.

The afternoon slot has been left clear of officially organized PFS slots to grant a breather between slots. There will be other non-PFS events scheduled in that time frame, including some of the special games run by Paizo staff.
Of course, people were invited to submit PFS events for the lottery in those slots, so you may see some.
Wait until its all up! :)

And quite a few from a handful of third-party publishers, as well. I think Legendary Games alone is contributing 10 tables to the mix spread over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. And I know Kobold Press is coming with a slate of games, too. So, stay tuned indeed.

I've got 5 more events for Friday and Katina has been helping enter events from Monday. Still lots more to be added for Saturday and Sunday. Off to lunch!
There are just a handful of events left to enter tomorrow morning. Mostly seminars but a couple of games too.
The few events that remain to be input into the schedule, are any of those the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game by chance as I did not see that in the current list of events?
Yes. I had a bunch of last minute questions about how Tanis wanted the ACG events entered. Since they aren't part of the lottery, they're further down on the list of what still has to be entered. They are all in 2 hour time blocks though, from 8am - 6pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and 8am- 12pm on Monday. There are Demos, Open Play and scenarios from Wrath of the Righteous.

Thank you ever so much Sara. Your awesomeness is unending :)
99.9% of everything but ACG entered in time for lottery to start in 18 minutes. Possibly cutting that deadline a leeeettle close to the wire!
So are the PFS games on the event schedule open events, or lottery events? They don't have anyway to rate them, which would make me think they're open, but then why can we add them now?
We are investigating currently as non-lottery events should not be available for signing up until after the lottery has been run.
Thank you! I won't worry about them yet then. :)

As soon as the tech team is able to turn that off, I'll be going through the people that managed to sign up for events and booting them so it doesn't affect their lottery results.
I can see there are quite a few people that have hopped on the PFS/non-lottery train while this has been up. if any of you see this can you please remove yourself from the event, it will save me a lot of time.
Thanks!
Midgard: Goblins in the Brewery is listed as a lottery event on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but a non-lottery event on Friday. Is this a glitch? Is this thread the right place to report any similar glitches?
