Heavens Oracle Spirit Guide Advice

Advice

Hello people,

So, I was trying to make an Oracle with the Spirit Guide archetype. The idea is to make it a Oracle of the Heavens (Fluff), with Spirit Guide to take advantage of the Shaman Lore Spirit Arcane Enlightenment Hex.

This would get me:

Number of Wizard/Sorcerer Spells equal to my Charisma (5 at level 4)
Three of Wizard/Sorcerer Spells from EH: New Arcana.

With higher Cha/Int due to belt the number of spells and max level I could cast would go up.

Problems I am finding so far:

- Problem: Feat intensive. I would like to include: Spell Focus: Illusion/Necromancy, Thredonic Spell and possibly Quicken Spell (metamagic), Spell Penetration etc. Any ideas on what to drop. Toughness and Improved Initiative are also nice, but no way that can fit.

- Solution: Go Half-Elf for Paragon Surge to drop number of Eh feats.

- Problem: Low number of Revelations, late entry revelations.
- Solution: drop revelations.

To sum up:

I have an idea for a character, but might want to do too much. Any ideas on build would be great! Thank you in advance!

Frankly the simplest solution: Half-elf or Elf go into Ancient Lorekeeper (elf racial archetype), an oracle who gets to add arcane spells to his spell list, you would use charisma for everything.

Unless there is something that you really want, from the lore spirit that how I would do it.

That might indeed be the easiest way to do it, but that's only one spell at each level and a level lower.

Spirit Guide -> Shaman Lore Spirit -> Arcane Enlightenment gives me 5 (10 at level 20 with Belt and level adjustments to Charisma). To make things better, as I pick daily I could select my spells every day.

Even if I have to stick with the same spells, then every level I can swap a lower level spell over to one of my mmy max level, which gives me an extra arcane option at max level whenever I get to a new spell level.

Problem is that it costs me three revelations, which means 2/3 feats.

Maybe the Eh: Arcane line could be dropped, seeing how I'll be getting plenty of Arcane Spells anyway?

There's a faq that clarified that Eldritch heritage will not allow you to cast sorc/wiz spells using spell slots from other classes. That frees up some of your feats.

Arcane Enlightenment lets you prepare wizard spells. Problem: you don't have a class ability to prepare spells. It's a simple conversion to make them spells known, but make sure your GM is on board with it.

Improved Eldritch Heritage for New Arcana got FAQ'd out of existence, sorry. You may save feats by dropping the Imp./Greater EH.

If one of your first level feats is a skill focus and you're human you probably either want to take the alt racial trait which swaps the human bonus feat for 3 skill focus feats (at 1st, 8th & 15th levels) or play a half-elf.

Alternate idea - the veiled illusionist PrC combines well with a heavens oracle. You get 1 sorc/wiz spell/PrC level which must be illusions, but they were probably what you wanted anyway.

If you are going all the way to level 20 you might want to consider being a Wayang. You lose access to Paragon Surge but you get to add 1 wizard illusion spell to your spells known potentially every level with their FCB.

This. Talk to your GM before jumping into this build. Mine is ok with it, but more so as a favor after I allowed a lot of cool stuff for his character in the campaign I ran prior.

Well, aren't you just a party-pooper :(.

Eldritch Heritage actually isn;t that bad and could work in my favour seeing the feat starvation in place.

The Arcane Enlightenment is a different problem altogether. Would depend on how the Dm would interpret the intent of the rule I guess.

Guess Arcane Lorekeeper would be the only reliable way to get arcane Spells then, unless I go for the veiled illusionist.

It might help if you already have the exact spells you want to import and present it to the GM. For Arcane Enlightenment, it seems that your could pick new spells every day if it did indeed work, so that may be trickier.

Well, I do not really want to minmax this anyway. Well, I want the options, but wouldn´t go out of my way to select spells every day nor do I think it should do that. Problem for me lies in the fact that it IS a class feature, and though the wording does say "add to the list of spells you can prepare," the FAQ specifically mentioned that class features were excluded from the New Arcana FAQ.

Rather, I would use the Paragon Surge FAQ and apply it, so that every time I choose Arcane Enlightenment I would be stuck with the previous choice, and would only alter one spell every time I level up.

Meh, maybe it's a cluster f*** anyway and I should just enjoy abusing color Spray as is, and not care about the rest :).

+1 for Wayang.

Yes you don't get a racial bonus to charisma, but for me getting your pick of wizard illusion spells as a favoured class bonus more than makes up for it.
It also lets a Heavens oracle pick an archetype that replaces your first level spell (like dual cursed) if you really want since you can pick up Colour Spray as a 2nd level spell via FCB.
