Depends on your class. Warpriests gain IUS as a bonus feat if their deity's favored weapon is unarmed strikes. (but clerics, inquisitors, paladins do not).

As a side note, in PFS, clerics of Irori (but no other deities with favored weapon: unarmed strike) get IUS as a bonus feat.

Improved unarmed strike of completely different from proficiency. I believe that all characters are proficient in unarmed attacks.

Are monks still non-proficient with unarmed strikes or has that been errata'd?

In fact, according to Golarion FAQ :

Favored Weapon (Unarmed Strike): If my deity's favored weapon is Unarmed Strike, do I gain Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat?
Yes, if your class grants you proficiency in your deity's favored weapon as a class ability.

Thank you everyone
