I'm trying to name a few characters I've got percolating right now, but can't decide, so I turn to the forums for advice:

Character #1 I have a definite idea of: he's a tiefling monk with the flowing monk archetype who hails from Cheliax and venerates Iomedae. I've zeroed in on the Greco-Roman name Zosimus, but can't decide if I should go with the above Latin spelling or the more Greek-looking Zosimos. Or if I should drop the -us/-os and alter it to something like Zosimael or Zosimer. I dunno.

Character #2 is going to be for Jade Regent, and the basic idea is that she's a Varisian aasimar who is a cartomancer witch, using a harrow deck gifted by Koya Mvashti, who practically raised her. I'm not good at naming girl characters by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm somewhat lost here.

I appreciate any help you guys can give! :)

Soleil is a great name for pretty much any female character.

Zosimus seems more appropriate for the greco-roman feel you suggested, due to the fact that it has that nice 3 syllable thing going on. I am not really a language expert, but my vague memories of lit classes tell me that there was a kind of big 'thing' there.

A quick googling says that it has a 'short syllable-long-long' kind of thing going on (it is called dactylos). I suck at the syllable stuff, so I can't tell you if Zosimus is a perfect match, but it SOUNDS all right when compared to other classical greek names, and that is about the best judge I have for syllable stuff.

Since Varisians seem to be a fairly strong analog to the Romani people, I think it would be fair to just do a quick search for traditional Romani names seems like a good place to start. I tend to use the website Behind the Names myself. Maybe that will provide you with something usable, and it can serve as a reference for similar future endeavors.

depends on if you're going Greco-Roman, or truly Christo-Roman as Zosimael feels to me. Zosimer also feels slightly more Christian than Greek flavored Roman. Also realize people will probably call you Z.

also, Varisians like long names, with tons of syllables, like Esmeralda or Casandra. a option that's put forward as an example sounds cool: "Zeldana".

Grand Lodge

I go for names that are clear and pronounceable. I play in a lot of PFS games, which tend to have multiple tables and noise. While I want flavor and exoticism, a name that is easy to say and hear wins out every time for me.

Hmm

Well, he's from Cheliax. It could honestly go either way, especially since his deity, Iomedae, has a church that strongly resembles Catholicism, at least in terms of trappings.
