Deflection, how does it work?

Rules Questions

Heya! Rotten here;

How does deflection works? I cant seem to find it anywhere. (I think im horrible at googling, haha)
I.E: A +2 deflection, what does it means?

Thanks in advance!

A deflection bonus affects armor class and is granted by a spell or magic effect that makes attacks veer off harmlessly. Deflection bonuses stack with all other bonuses to AC except other deflection bonuses. A deflection bonus applies against touch attacks.

Think of a force field, like in Star Trek, Dune or The Fantastic Four. It creates a field of force around you that pushes ("deflects") things away.

It is a type of bonus that adds to AC. This particular type also applies to touch AC, flat footed AC, and CMD.

Here's how I envision it:

Deflection is a force that pushes attacks to the side right before they strike, a 'deflection.' As opposed to directly blocking the attack (armor/shield), hardened skin (natural armor), or actively avoiding the attack (dex/dodge/etc.) That's why it applies to touch & flat-footed attacks. That's the mechanical role behind 'deflection' bonuses as well.

Thanks! All so mouch clear now!

Each character is given golden wrist bands and you use them to block attacks...right?

I envision it like a gust of wind that affects the incoming weapon, pushing it off to the side.

Thus, it adds to your touch AC, even if you are paralyzed or unconscious.
