Good magic items for Diabolists

Advice

Yes, I'm still chipping away at the Diabolists Guide. Almost finished, actually. I'm just wondering whether to include a short section on magic items.

A Diabolist is pretty much the same as any other arcane caster, except that she spends a lot of time calling monsters, summoning monsters, and dealing with called and summoned monsters, and otherwise is likely to be kind of blasty. So, anything that helps with those things would be worth a look -- particularly anything that helps with calling and binding (if there are such items; I don't know of any). Alignment disguisers and items that help with Bluff or Diplomacy are also good.

Thoughts?

Circlet of Persuasion and Headband of Charisma for sure.

Those are reasonable -- but I was thinking of more specialized stuff, like the candle of invocation (+2 to saves and skill checks, burn it while you're calling and negotiating) or the Orb of Foul Abaddon, which gives +1 ECL to spells with the evil descriptor (which you'll cast a lot of -- note that any damage spell you cast with Hellfire Admixture gains the evil descriptor) or the Iron Flask (DC 19 Will Save, no SR, to trap a single outsider of any HD or alignment).

The Ring of Mind Shielding seems like a no-brainer if you're living in a nonevil environment -- just 8,000 gp and you're immune to detect thoughts, discern lies, and any attempt to magically discern your alignment. Take that, paladins.

If you're a tiefling, the Darksire Amulet gives you +5 to an energy resistance and +5 on Diplomacy checks with evil outsiders.

Abjurant salt... good grief. For just 600 gp, you get complete protection against called or summoned outsiders. Of course, DMs can also give this to NPCs to use against you, especially once word gets around of who you are and what you do. Hm. -- But anyway, this is pretty much a must-have for diabolists.
